At Dean's Sweets, our group of 13 was offered a needham which is a confectionery dessert bar made from sugar, chocolate, coconut, and potato and we had the option to choose another truffle. I chose a blueberry one. It was nice to try the needham (often called "Maine potato candy"), a highly localized and historic chocolate confection native exclusively to Maine. I'm usually not a fan of dark chocolate, but this was very light and rich. One group took advantage of our group discount and bought extra items. Kristin Bingham, co-founder of Dean's Sweets, welcomed us in. Dean's Sweets offers a variety of gourmet Maine chocolate truffles and chocolate gifts. Everything is on display.

They went so good right on my salad...which was huge and packaged in a very nice resealable plastic bowl. Crispy and fresh! The food was packaged very well and it was still hot when we got home 20 min away. The quality of the chocolate is great, the cake part is moist, and they have lots of filling choices! My favorites are the hostess mint and the peanut butter. They offer custom cakes and an assortment of chocolates and baked goods as well. This is their second location, after starting their business in Kennebunk, which I believe is where they still make everything. The staff has been friendly and helpful each time I've gone in, so I'd encourage others to give it a try!
