Very very special, spectacular chocolates. We are wildly lucky to have this place here in Portland, even luckier for me as I'm a short walk away. My husband and I stumbled upon this place after a neighborhood event and were blown away. I told him on the spot, this is where I want you to come for all special occasions to get a treat for me. We stumbled across this lovely chocolate shop by searching on Yelp as we were traveling from Bar Harbor back to Boston. When we walked in, we were greeted by two smiling faces and the sweet smell of chocolate. All of the chocolates were beautiful and several of the flavors were unique combinations. I had a yummy Mexican chocolate truffle and it had a little bit of heat-it was decadent. I bought a fun baby dragon for my bestie and she loved it. In addition to chocolate candy, they also create rich and creamy caramel confections. These caramels are not your everyday flavors - check out the pic. Our son bought us each an Advent calendar. They have a unique chocolate for each day in December from the 1st through the 25th. I have to say that everyone in our family looks forward to opening up each compartment and finding out what is inside. Some are so beautiful, they are hard to eat but when you bite into them, it's like a little piece of Heaven. Everything is made with the finest detail and quality. Very small shop but feels very safe during Covid. Only two staff inside (super friendly!!), and both were wearing masks and gloves and keeping apart from one another and from my partner and I when we went in. They had us wait outside initially because another couple was inside. They have hand sanitizer available upon entry. The chocolates are just absolutely divine. There is no better way to say it. The flavors are so unique and so incredibly rich. It is hard to say if I've ever had better chocolate, but I highly doubt it. This stuff is amazing, and there's so many dark and milk options to choose from. Plus, they're making it right there when you're in the shop. Each little square is like its own colorful present. A great gift or a great treat for yourself. Oh, and if you're vegan, I highly recommend the jar of vegan hazelnut chocolate butter. read more

WOW. This is the dreamy artisan chocolate store I never knew I needed. I stopped in here yesterday evening after being intrigued by the new sign. We were immediately greeted by the shop owner (I believe), who offered us chocolate samples! She had a plethora of unique chocolates for us to try. I tried a citrus almond milk chocolate; it was unreal! Surreal flavors and a soft texture made me want to eat an entire bag. This shop offers gift boxes of beautifully decorated chocolates, pastries, a homemade (and better) version of Nutella, painted edible candies, even vegan sweets! I ended up going with a jar of vegan hazelnut spread as a gift for a friend. The owner let us know that she doesn't use preservatives in any of her creations, and almost (if not all?) recipes are made with organic ingredients. I can't wait to come back here and purchase more items. This shop owner is amazing and knows so much about chocolate - she was making some while we were there, and explained her process! How could you NOT visit a chocolatier who just won a competition at the world level. When I tell you I have NEVER had chocolates that tasted like this, I am not exaggerating. Such complex and intense flavors such as Pineappple and black pepper, passion fruit and vanilla, Mexican chocolate, etc.. They are also beautiful works of art painted like tiny abstract paintings. Very beautiful little chocolate store. The person who was very passionate and knowledgeable about the chocolate, and walked me through all their items. As I paying, she gave me a complimentary hazlenut truffle to try, which wasn't available sale yet and was absolutely delectable. My husband walked in briefly as I was paying and she threw in a complimentary truffle for him as well, which was very generous. Unfortunately, he inhaled it too quickly to offer a meaningful review, but I have to assume it was equally as tasty as the one I had. In terms of selection, they have a nice mix of dark/milk chocolates and some very cute and beautiful chocolate for kids. I also purchased a jar of their handmade "Nutella ", and they threw in a mini jar for free. Overall, can't recommend this place enough. This place is in a class of its own when it comes to chocolatiers. The small shop (which during Covid only allows one customer in at a time) has just two counters to pick from. Their chocolates are like little works of decadent art, think Jackson Pollock if he we a candy creator. This is the perfect extravagant gift to bring that special someone at home for that special occasion. The way I found out about these folks was when a friend brought a box to our NYE party, pre Covid. My wife and I were wowed by the box we opened! Their chocolates may be good but their customer service needs some improvement. When I asked for a sample it seemed reluctantly given with the gal walking away without offering one to my husband nor giving any into on their product. There were no smiles and it felt basically unwelcoming. We spent $27 on 9 chocolates. We won't be back and it is not because of the expense. Maybe an off day ! Is this world-class delicious artisan chocolate? Yes. But each one is also a tiny piece of art, and I'm so delighted to live near this absolute gem of a chocolatier. I stopped in to the storefront for the first time recently, and was warmly greeted with a complimentary piece of chocolate. I bought a box for a notoriously hard-to-please relative, who was absolutely delighted (score!) They even let me pick out the ribbon color for tying up the box, which made me feel like a kid again. Chocolates Passion has been in its current location for fourteen months, but we just discovered it, thanks to a picture of some delicious-looking hot chocolate in the Portland Press Herald. We were not disappointed! The hot chocolate was outstanding, unlike any I have ever had in this country--very rich, smooth and creamy. It exceeded expectations, as did the beautiful hand-crafted chocolates. The owner of the shop is welcoming and charming and greets you with an offer of a complimentary chocolate, after which you are hooked! I had been walking by this delightful chocolatier for the last few weeks or so and finally went in today. Oh my goodness what I had been missing! The chocolatier was absolutely delightful! She was kind enough to show me her shop and after tasting some samples I can honestly say that her work is absolutely exquisite. She crafts her chocolates completely by hand (as in EVERYTHING is handmade, she makes her own fruit paste filling from strawberries from Cape Elizabeth). Further, she appeared to have a great deal of passion for her menu and creations of hers that were upcoming. M&D refer to the outside of the pieces; many of the truffles' insides are flavored white "chocolate," So if you are a dark-only chocolate lover, the Palet d'Or, the purest truffle, is your best choice and ask about others. I believe this to be the closest you can get to perfection when it comes to chocolates made by a Chocolatier. I have come to this location a few times and each time they have something new and each time I am amazed. I recommend everything. Not all flavors might be for you but give them a try. You might find out your new favorite is a Passion Vanilla in Dark Chocolate. You might love their French caramels that do not stick to your teeth like the caramels you get in the States. The Pistachio Caramel is my favorite so far. Most recently they added the Pate de Fruits which are the most intense flavor of a fruit you will ever get. The texture is unique. I have never had anything like this but imagine a gummi bear that is softer, melts in your mouth and leaves you dancing in a field of Mangos or Guava, or Cassis...they are utterly delightful. This is not your typical candy store, this is elite level confectionary gifts from the gods. This winter they will be doing the drinking chocolate and if you have never had a true drinking chocolate, do yourself and your loved ones a favorer and head over to Chocolats Passion.
