This place is perfect for hiking or a lazy stroll depending on the mood! I love that is free and pet friendly. The countryside views are gorgeous, specially at sunset! Great for families with small children as well, but don't forget it's still nature and there are snakes and alligators, so common sense is a plus

Beautiful and free access to the wilds of East Texas. I say wild, because you do need to be careful as this area does have feral hogs, alligators, and poisonous snakes. Watch your step. Also bring plenty of water if you come here during the hot months. If you did forget your water though, the pavilion has water fountains with surprisingly cold and refreshing H2O. The preserve has many miles of walking, biking, and horseback trails. The trail we did is wide and paved, which is fantastic for watching where you step. Some are exposed and others are under the shade of the woods. While we were there, we did see feral hog scat, frogs, birds, and a butterfly the size of a hawk. There is a playground for the kiddos which is exposed - there is no shade. This makes the play ground equipment really hot. This is something you may want to bear in mind while planning your trip. The pavilion area has shade, picnic tables, a grill, a swing, water fountains and restrooms. It is on a hill, and therefore has great views of the surrounding country side. We spotted several deer on the grass in the distance. There is a garden area with local wildflowers and a bee-hive that you can approach, if you are brave enough. Also, be sure to wave at the longhorns as you drive in, and see if you can spot the lone buffalo. This is a nature preserve, so mind your trash and be respectful to the wildlife you may see here. I am so excited this place is within driving distance of my hometown, because I plan on making this a regular day-trip. It's impressive that it is all done by the city of Mineola. There is a donation box, so show some support for this amazing park.

Such a beautiful place to walk around, I would just be careful since there are snakes and alligators.

Beautiful preserve! It was too hot today to hit the trails but we will definitely come when it cools off.

If you had a Mother's Day or Mom's birthday to buy flowers, for it was a big deal to give her Tyler roses. If you were sweet other girl at school, it was also a big deal, if you not only gave her roses, but roses directly from Tyler. I had always wanted to see this Rose capital of the world. It was an easy day trip from Dallas and gave me the opportunity to see this Ground Zero from some thing that has a strong memory for me growing up. The gardens were beautiful, and when the breeze was just right, the fragrance was amazing. But I have to admit I was a little disappointed that it was not like our Arboretum, Or something like that. Nevertheless, it was worth the trip and took me down memory lane!

There are a bunch of different spaces to visit, and it is well maintained. While we were there, a 3-year-old kid and his grandma were walking around, and the kid seemed to have no object permanence. He would trip and fall into a bush, get back up, and fall into the same bush again. It's not important to this review, but it was hilarious and worth sharing. Anyways, this place is a must-visit for locals and visitors! RIYL: Roses
