    Steamed Vegetable Dumplings

What a great place to grab some lunch! They have counter service for to go orders or you can sit in the restaurant to enjoy your meal on house. I enjoyed the casserole noodle soup with chicken and it was a huge portion. I could've easily shared it with another person and still had leftovers. The broth was delicious and a little spicy and the chicken and bok choy were perfectly cooked. I had the steamed vegetable dumplings for an appetizer and you could really tell that they were made in house and fresh. Service is super quick too! If you want a casual spot for lunch or dinner, or just to grab some takeout, would recommend Ming Dynasty!

What an experience! We ordered from the authentic Chinese menu, and their spicy whole fish was incredible -- the perfect blend of heat and rich, authentic Chinese flavors. I also loved the braised beef with cabbage, which came in a generously spicy and flavorful broth. They even let you choose your spice level, from mild to extra spicy. The service was wonderful. It's a small family run restaurant with familiar lunch specials options but also varieties of authentic Chinese cuisine. Highly recommend!

I ordered takeout and arrived to a relatively spartan shop, but one that appeared to be running with high energy. My order was ready quickly, and I had an abundance of vegetarian dishes to choose from. What I ended up with was a pretty straightforward dish with a savory spicy sauce and some high quality tofu mixed with peas and carrots, like a typical Americanized ma po tofu. The portion size was a massive container of the sort you don't usually see anymore. Not fancy, but it hit the spot. My dumplings weren't impressive, being mostly dough with not enough of a vegetable filling for my liking. Still, the basic Chinese takeout with good vegetarian options is something that isn't as easy to find as I would like, and I could easily see coming back here and getting something as good or better than what I got.

Best Chinese restaurant in the C'ville area. I'm so sad to be moving away from this wonderful restaurant. People are always kind and food is always 10/10

Huge portions, plentiful vegan options, reasonable prices! Vegan Chinese food is hard to come by so this place is a gem. And don't let Yelp fool you, Ming has been around forever - just in a new location now. The complimentary hot tea is awesome. They have soy "beef" and soy "chicken" in addition to tofu for vegan options, and a whole section of the menu dedicated to these. The beef is a little better than the chicken, to me, but both are really good. I had the general tso vegan soy chicken and while the chicken was crispy and awesome, the sauce was definitely lacking flavor and spice. It tasted more like grocery store bought sauce. That said, we went with a group of 10 and all the other sauces I tasted were awesome. (Cashew nut dish, Szechuan eggplant). I can't wait to go back and try something else! Food came out fast and service was great even with our large group. They weren't too busy aside from takeout. As for atmosphere, it's nothing fancy but clean and newly renovated.

Very nice find just north of Downtown Charlottesville. Dined in for lunch . I had kung Pao chicken lunch . It was spiced perfectly. Perfect blend of peanuts, diced veggies and chicken . Sauce was splendidly spiced. Wife enjoyed her crispy szechuan eggplant . The crunchy exterior melded well with the creamy inside of the eggplant. She usually hates spicy sauces but was impressed by the spice level. We ordered the vegetarian soy chicken and mixed veggies in szechuan sauce to go for our daughter to enjoy after work. We will definitely return on next trip through the area CLOSED ON SUNDAYS

We decided to try the newly opened Ming Dynasty. We are so glad we did! It is a clean restaurant (restrooms too!) with many choices and friendly and attentive staff. Appetizers were tasty. I ordered warm and eggy egg drop soup served with wonton strips. Salty (in a good way) and cooked just right edamame. An extra bowl for the edamame pods would have been helpful. Fried vegetable dumplings were yummy and I loved the texture. Would recommend dipping them in their yummy duck sauce. Crab Rangoon was fried to perfection and contained just the right amount of filling with a nice balance of cheese to crab (not overly cheesy like some I've tried.). Hubby was disappointed I like it so much and he had to share (he is used to getting it all to himself). Smaller appetizer plates would be helpful. Orange chicken arrived and it was so pretty! Broccoli was crispy, sauce was good and chicken was delicious. Not overly fried or fatty chicken and was fried in clean grease. My hubby ordered General Tso's all white meat chicken both served with steamed white rice. Ended our meal with our fortune cookies! It was steadily busy with takeout and other inside diners the whole time we were inside. Would definitely come back! Probably our new favorite Chinese restaurant and those are hard to find in this area!

Charlottesville needs more Chinese food options and this is a good one. We finally stopped in, after talking about it all the time, since they moved here, from just south of 250, on 29 and I regret we did not stop in sooner. For appetizers, we both started with the egg drop soup, edamame, fried vegetable dumplings and crab Rangoon. The egg drop soup was kinda bland, but nothing a little soy sauce couldn't fix. The crab Rangoon, is easily my favorite I have ever had. A lot of times, there is just sooooo much cheese, but this had the perfect amount. Even my wife liked them and she usually does not. The vegetable are usually the opposite, my wife likes them and I cannot stand them, but these were really good, so much so, that we split them pretty evenly. For the main course, I ordered the General Tso's chicken, all white meat and my wife ordered the orange chicken. Both turned out great and were very flavorful. The broccoli was cooked perfectly for me, with just a slight crunch to it. This is our Chinese restaurant now and will be our go to from here on out.

First of all, I love the speakeasy style "alley" entrance of this restaurant. No signage and you'll walk right by the alley if you're not careful. Very cool. Second, once you're inside, the custom cocktails are amazing and the food is delicious. You order "tapa style" for the table to share and it all comes out as it may. I like that a lot, and it keeps dinner engaging and interesting. I enjoyed the chorizo and chickpea crostini, as well as mushroom crêpe and the beef tenderloin. My son's favorite dish was the pork belly. The simple salad had a tangy vinaigrette and was refreshing. Instead of cauliflower augratin, I was really envisioning a cauliflower scallop (potato) style dish, which I think Chef should consider. I feel if the cauliflower was scalloped and integrated with the cheese and cream in a way that would melt in your mouth, it would be more delectable. this was my second time here and I would come back again and again. I really love this place. Five star experience!

Total came out to approximately $60, not including tip. What's hot - Quality. Delicious. Hubby really liked their sweet potato fries. Slightly crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. My portobello mushroom sandwich was delicious. Everything was well seasoned and the vegan cheese melted nicely with everything, which added to the flavor. Their coleslaw is listed on the menu as vinegar based, which it was and I enjoyed. Definitely a vinegar kick, but not overly so. We really enjoyed their chili cheese tots, which had a good amount of toppings, and was served warm. - Menu. Very good variety, especially vegan options. Dessert menu has vegan options, as well. - Price. Good value for money. It can cost less than $20 per person, unless you add drinks, appetizers, and/or dessert. - Service. Very good. Reliable and dependable. - Ambiance. Pretty cool that they have pinball games, video games, and a few board games and card games to play to keep you occupied. Be aware their pinball games and video games only take quarters, so you need cash. They have seating for groups of 2 up to 6. They also have scheduled events for the public, Iike trivia night. That they're open to all parts of the community, like LGBTQ, is visible and appreciated. - Parking. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant. There's a larger parking lot behind the restaurant, which is helpful. What's not - Lighting. Indoor lighting is not the best, especially later in the day and when they have their curtains drawn. - Outdoor seating. On the one hand, it's nice to have outdoor seating. On the other hand, they have a sign that appears to indicate outdoor seating is self-serve, which can be inconvenient. Final answer Worth returning.
