ABC Warehouse (which I learned is not Alcohol Beverage Control), Office Depot, Ulta, Fresh Thyme, TJ Maxx, Old Navy and more. The center is easy to access with traffic lights at some entrances. It was HOT when we went (about 90 degrees out) but the market has some nice shaded areas. There were a lot of vendors selling true vintage things (clothing, typewriters, records, etc.) and a few selling homemade things. I ended up buying a small Alice in Wonderland purse (clutch-sized) for $12 which I really liked. There were also a few food vendors on site - that day (8/5/18) there was Nonla Burger, plus a kebob stand and one other small food truck. We also had ice cream from Red Trike Ice Cream and that was super tasty. 4 stars instead of 5 from me because the bathroom situation could be better (they have Womens and Mens bathrooms by the "Office" area, which is in the middle of the market) ... apparently during the Farmers Market they have more of an indoor bathroom area though. Regardless of the weather, this was a fun time and I'd go back again when in the area.

If you are unfamiliar with what a bin store is I will try to explain it a little. Basically what…read morethe store owner does is purchase pallets of returns from large stores like target, Walmart, and Amazon. They then place all of the returns, which can very in condition, in bins and price everything the same price. The prices change each day of the week (they go lower as the week goes on) and at the end of the week they clear the bins and start again. Bin and Pallet co in Augusta started off very strong but has since gone down hill a bit. The owners are very very nice and do a great job of posting on social media updates for the business. However, they stopped putting larger ticket items in the bins but have not changed the pricing structure accordingly. In addition they have out grown the space they are currently in. Right now, it is so crowded on Saturdays that you can barely move inside the store, let alone search through the items. They also do not have a system in place to keep people from hoarding items to search through in large groups, which defeats the purpose of the fairness of the store. If you want to give it a try the best day to go is Saturday. But get there early! If you are not towards the front of the line on Saturday you will miss out on the best items of the week. UPDATE I want to thank the owner Jeff for reaching out to me to address some of the things I had concerns about in my initial review. They did not stop putting large ticket items out. Here is a great response from the owner to this issue - We've purchased 5 truckloads in the last two weeks. We keep some at the warehouse, and bring the majority of it into the store (whatever we can fit). I think if you saw a decline in value, it was likely a symptom of the influx in people we've had in on Saturday mornings. We have definitely not stopped putting big ticket items out. This makes complete sense. They have been super busy!! Another reason to get there early. Jeff also assured me that they are working on new ways of controlling the crowd and the flow of people in the store. Bin and Palette are really trying to do everything they can to make this store work well for everyone. They deserve a visit if you are able not only because the bargains are amazing, but the ownership is as well.

What makes the place really remarkable, though, is the people who work there. I don't know if I have ever met friendlier or more helpful people! They happily made multiple recommendations for places to shop and eat, googled things for us, drew us maps. They told us to stop into the cycle shop to meet the new puppy (awww!). And they made sure to point out that the street and sidewalk in the downtown area are heated since it was VERY cold (the last bit seems a bit excessive on the part of the city of Kalamazoo, but it was pretty awesome. No snow.). Their exhibits change every month, so be sure to visit again and again!

Not a lot has changed since we started to go over 12 years ago. Cons - It's becoming an outdated Farm, as weird as it is to say that. The upkeep has been on the decline - this place could be a gold mine for the fall season if done right and with a little bit of marketing; but, I don't see that turning around anytime soon. If it wasn't a family tradition we wouldn't probably give it a go anymore. Likelihood to return (1-10) - 3 Reason - Pumpkin cost is up there. Nothing is ever new or exciting to see. I gotta say that while there are few people you will meet in this lifetime that you encounter briefly and leave a lasting impression on you, we had the opportunity to meet Gene the pumpkin man himself. Let me say that Gene is one of those guys you'll meet and never forget. A very charismatic fella, 80 years young, rocking an orange shirt and orange cowboy hat to go along with his orange themed farm, and he's been slangin' pumpkins since 1957. Eager to talk and get to know you a bit and even shares many stories from his lifetime. It's easy to see why he's a local favorite. Plenty of pumpkins to choose from and in all shapes and sizes. Everything is marked pretty clearly on price as well. I even noticed a small booth where they sell fresh honey! Cool! Note that they only take cash or checks (no credit cards) but Gene also seems to use the honor system as well where you can pay later on if you like. While we appreciated the gesture, we ended up purchasing two mini pumpkins with the little cash we did have. Gene finding out we had drove to see his farm from Chicago ended up picking out a bag full of assorted squash for us to take home and enjoy. And of course, some verbal instruction on how to prepare each one. After spending some time talking with him, he even gave us some local spots worth checking out nearby. What a guy!
