On November 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., I arrived at Walmart, 6020 B Drive North, Battle Creek, Michigan. Upon entering the produce department, I observed a display of sweet potatoes with a sign stating "Manager's Special - 59 cents per pound." I placed two sweet potatoes in a bag and continued shopping. At approximately 6:20 p.m., I proceeded to the self-checkout area. After entering the PLU code and placing the sweet potatoes on the scale, the register rang them up at 1.36 lbs @ $1.59 per pound, totaling $2.16--a difference of $1.36 from the advertised price. I immediately notified the cashier attendant and pointed out both the price discrepancy and the sale sign advertising sweet potatoes at 59 cents per pound. The cashier stated that I had to pay the $1.59-per-pound price because that was the price shown in the computer and said she could not adjust the price to match the advertised amount. Only after approximately 15 minutes of discussion was the price finally corrected to the advertised price. While the issue was eventually resolved, the cashier's initial refusal to honor the posted price contradicts Michigan law and raises concern about how many other customers may have been unknowingly overcharged. read more

There aren't too many options out here in central Michigan but this Walmart has all the goodies. I've been to lots of Walmart stores and this one definitely lands in the A-OK range. This is a Supercenter, which means that in addition to the usual clothing, housewares and soft lines, there is also a full grocery department that includes frozen, butcher and dairy. I stopped in for a few snacks and a few travel things for the hotel room. I found everything I needed quickly and all were in stock. I can tell by the just barely over a 1-star rating that this store doesn't care about their customers or reputation, but I'll leave my recent experience here, and you'll see why I'm so upset. I just stopped by on Saturday night around 10:40-10:45pm, and the guard with an attitude said that they are closing in less then 10 minutes at 11(I guess he does not possess the standard education to properly tell time).I am used to the store being 24hours but oh well, post Covid changes. So I walk through the store at a brisk pace and I get to the register at around 10:59pm with my items. But there is a reasonably long line, and they did not have the food produce that I came here for so I just went down the isle to the pizzas which is among the closest food there and try to pick one out while there is a long line. The moment I got there that same security guard came to me and said "go stand in line" in a treating way! Mind you this is literally only about 11:02 and again I can't make the lines go any faster by standing there. I told him that I was just picking one before checking out, and he basically told me he didn't care and that they are closed and to go in line. And I asked him, "you mean to tell me I can't add this one item while I am here? Are you telling me I can't shop here?" Then he, again with a attitude, said that I "could" but to hurry and get in line... last I checked this wasn't a prison and I would have been back in line already had he not stopped me to intimidate me. Came to buy new wheels for my car. Should have gone to Wheelmart. Oh well. The Walmart of Battle Creek is perfectly fine. Parking is a real nightmare but they are well stocked with most things. They didn't have the chocolate milk that I came here for but you can't get everything. Cute t-shirts! Not enough stuff in small sizes though. read more

I'm sick of the on again, off again availability of the bottle return department. Too many times have I drug a cart of cans through the bitter cold, ice and snow only to find the bottle return door locked. Then I have to haul my crap all the way back to my vehicle and load them all back up. Make up your mind! Open it, close it! I don't care, just be consistent so I know what to expect. read more

Lots of variety but staff sucks, sorry. After getting lost many times I seeked out 3 staff to find something I already knew was there because I had someone else get me some a few days before. The first staff said no I actually can't help you, I'm in the middle of something. The second said no because she didn't know how to look that product up. Finally I found a staff willing to go outta his way to find a product for me, wished I got his name. Guess 2 outta 3 ain't bad! Thanks unknown guy for helping a person completely unfamiliar with the store to find a product. Literally the only store I've been to that doesn't accept cash at the self scan checkout. It's happening way too frequently for me to ever visit this location again. If you happen to want to use cash you have to go to one of the two cashiers working in the store. Completely ridiculous. read more

HORRIBLE! Do not trust on-line order and/or curb-side service as they are unreliable and they may not have the item and are absolutely tone deaf when it comes to customer service. I had the misfortune to deal with a manager (Larry) who was confused and after multiple trips to the stockroom glibly stated that the item ordered was not in stock and hasn't been for 5 weeks. Note: the online app stated it was available for pickup TODAY...apparently not. When asked to speak to a manager things got even worse....Nicholas with the title of "COACH" was difficult and brought absolutely nothing to the conversation. I really didn't expect a world class experience when shopping Walmart, but I left totally embarrassed for these two workers who clearly need training in customer service. Any organization will have problems to overcome. The difference in 1 star vs 5 star is the commitment to communication and customer satisfaction. Walmart in Battle Creek, MI has no respect at all for the customer. The moral and hostility is a zero from some of the staff. For example, Filip, a manager, is not worthy of having that position. Does not have a clue what good customer service means, not to mention how to talk to a customer respectfully. The door greeter, Cherry, as well is not worthy of having the position. She is rude, disrespectful, and a plain idiot. Does not have a clue what good customer service means. There are a few select employees that do a good job. Half the time the shelves are bare. Outside of cheap prices this place is a laugh. Watching people always stealing from here infuriates me to no end. I'll stick to paying a little more and shop at Meijers instead. They do have an automotive department that I regularly get my oil changed at. Price is reasonable and they do a good job. Restrooms are not very clean and I rarely see anyone cleaning. I really like shopping Walmart, but the worker there in self scan name Sarah she's rude and not helping the costumer at all. Telling me loud and and lots of people in line "NO,everybody is waiting" and I know that,and she's Not apologizing, I just asking if I can pay on the front or costumer service because I was worried my ice cream is start melting from standing on the line. I'm amazed that when I walked up to a sales associate in the pre-pay phone section to get information, he said he would be right back and never returned. I waited and finally another sales associate asked if she could help me, and I started asking questions about a pre-paid phone and she responded by telling me to call the 800 number. I went to Walmart in the upper Peninsula, and the sales associated answered every question, and even went out of her way to get my son switched over to his new plan right there in the store. The Pharmacy at Walmart is THE WORST EVER! Perscriptions are NEVER ready, it's always, "come back in 20 minutes". I called my refills in 3 DAYS in advance and they STILL WERE NOT READY!! The outside is nice, but the inside is not impressive. The floors are sticky and the store is over crowded. The only nice thing I really love about this store is their gluten free selection and the low prices of gluten free items. I always get frustrated that they don't take all my glass bottles making me go to another store and return the rest. The only shopping I do here is my gluten free shopping. read more

Giving my rating for the Automotive department. Definitely make the trip to Battle Creek if you need general maintenance work or service on your vehicle. Was in town visiting from out of state & my daughter's car needed service & tires. The clerk searched & found me a fantastic deal on some Goodyear tires that saved me hundreds of dollars. Then the next day, they provided exceptional service when I brought my car in for an oil change & went out of their way to help answer my questions. Very pleased & will absolutely come here again the next time I'm in the area. read more
