It included farm animals (goats, sheep, ducks, chickens), a spooky barn, corn pit, a lot of little kid play sets, some photo ops and an adorable little shop with baked goods, vintage items, decor and more. We came on a Sunday in October around 11:30AM. We bought four pretty large pumpkins for $20-- no complaints here! Admission is free, which I appreciated. We had a solid 45 minutes of fun with my eight and six year olds, as there isn't too many things to do. The selection of pumpkins was good, but semi-limited (though it was at the end of October, so that could be why!) Overall, Sass Family Farm is a great spot for some fall fun.

Small tent inside that houses reptiles and their habitats. Many exotic animals were shown and were allowed to be held. Owners Cam and Cole shared their starting point and experiences in growing Spock's. Family friendly event with so many opportunities to ask questions and learn. Yelp really made this engaging and brought community. We have visited Spock's again since this event and we are so glad we have gotten the chance to meet and know the owners.

I was honestly surprised my 9yr wanted to go since reptiles aren't usually her bag but Cole made it such a fun experience and by the end of our visit, my daughter wanted to pet the snakes, hold the geckos, she WANTED to see the scorpion, and she even held the mealworms in the tongs by herself! They managed to turn us into reptile lovers in hours (although my daughter's new favorite friend is Adonis, he's her dude!) We will without a doubt be back!

A hidden gem in Des Moines?…read more We think so. We have ridden by here a lot on our bikes following the Neal Smith bike trail, which is another gem of the Des Moines area! It goes right by on the levy and you can see this park just off to the northwest. We have also been here for several concerts as part of the river view concert series that are hosted by the City of Des Moines and parks and recreation systems. They host a fantastic and safe party. Please keep doing this!!! They bring in vendors and food trucks to provide food and refreshments for the attendees. They are parked right of the sidewalk and easily accessible without being in the way! Whether or not there is something happening on the stage, the place is perfect to enjoy with kids of all ages. The park equipment is all newly installed, Ada compliant and have historical themes, based on the rides that used to be here when this was an amusement park. Screams of glee and children running around like crazy people are normal around this green Iowa City staple. The structure is right next to the Iowa City Public Library and sits on a soft rubber floor. As a parent, I definitely appreciate that my kids aren't playing in sand or hot asphalt! Park benches surround the jungle gym and always has parents watching their kids but also soaking in the downtown atmosphere. With the addition of Gene's and their patio, I love having a drink as I watch my kiddos play in the summer now that they are a bit more self sufficient -- and when the students are out of town, so it is less crazy busy. The Weather Dance Fountain is right next to the play area, as well. My ONLY knock is lack of shade. Holy cow! Bring your sunscreen, baseball caps and expect to roast on summer days. Park in the Dubuque Street Ramp for a short walk to the park, and first hour free!

The museum hasn't changed much since I last visited 10+ years ago, but that's okay. Rusty the Sloth and the polar bear in the gift shop are staples. Macbride Hall houses the Department of Anthropology at U of I. Wouldn't it be cool to see these artifacts every day as a student? The pair of lions in Mammal Hall were placed in an enclosed case in 202 (previously not enclosed) and a nice mural was painted behind them. From what I could tell, that's the most recent update to one of the museum's exhibits. Museum is free, but a donation is suggested. Please don't skip the donation box located near the guestbook in the gift shop. As indicated in a previous review, some of the exhibits have become quite 'well-loved.' Interactive features no longer work, particularly in the Hall of Birds. Mammal Hall is my most favorite, but there's so much to learn from each area of the museum. The museum covers 3 floors of Macbride Hall. Take the stairs and work those quads! Elevator available as well. Due to the summer season museum hours are a little different, so I'd call ahead or check the website for details. Parking during the summer on the street is easy to find. $1.50/hour. Highly recommend!

(Not the end of the world just assumed maybe they ran out but still a hassle to keep them on) The worst was the staff hounding me that my 2 yo daughters need to be on their feet at all times. Confused I just said okay and we proceeded to jump, until a SECOND time another one comes back not even 5 minutes later with the same request. Mind you, it's busy. my daughters are falling and getting back up on their own. It's a trampoline park the kids are going to fall the smaller kids are going to take a bit longer to catch balance. I signed the waivers I understand the risks. Letting them fall and get back up on their own is okay with me. Apparently not with this park. In addition to the terrible service and unhelpful employees, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and ignored. Save your breath and go to skyzone.

Dirty bathroom floors and counters, dust in the cubbies for shoes, etc. On top of it all, if you moved any foam squares off the top, you could see extreme amounts of dirt, stains, particles of more foam, drink straws, empty juice boxes, etc. I will never return. Way to make me feel safe during COVID! No wonder why there was no one else there... Also, I do have photos saved as well so do not try to rebuttal these facts.
