They have absolutely horrible customs service. The one in Des Moines would give a call the day before your appointment every time. Never missed a confirmation call at all. Then switching to the one at Ankeny they never would call the day before. So I would try and check my calendar and call to make sure we were still good to go. Then one day I didn't catch my calendar the day before and call and I missed the appointment. So I called and apologize and let them know that I was sorry I missed the appointment and they said we called you the day before and confirmed and I advised them I had no reminder call. I informed them that I take half credit for missing the appointment but I'm used to getting the reminder call cause they do it at the other location regularly. So I feel like they should be half responsible. She said that it is a curtesy that they call anyway and that if I miss the appointment that's on me. So she said if I wanted to rebook I had to repay the full booking fee! So I asked for the owner I. So the owner called me and was rude and said that they would credit the booking fee but one of my three cats would no longer be able to come and get groomed because she was an issue. This after bring up that the Ankeny location was having tons of issues. I guess they are short staffed and can't handle the business they are getting so I said I would be taking my cats somewhere else and the own was ok that fine and hung up the phone. The ARL is actually inside of the Iowa Petfoods and Seascapes, all the way back in the far right corner. They are very kind, thorough, and even help you pick out items for your cat(s) from the pet store before bringing them home. My kittens came healthy, neutered/spayed, and even their toys, blanket, and box from their foster home.

Thankfully, the neighbors found her not long after and she was delivered to Furry Friends. I was hysterical and bawling after posting her missing on Facebook and a close friend told me where she was jailed. I immediately called, sent her documentation, and cried on the phone partly in worry and partly in relief. Furry Friends not only released her to me and we bailed her out, but during after hours. We re-microchipped her for a fraction of the price of the vet and they definitely didnt do any cruel or unusual punishment to my felon of a daughter. She is now home, safe, warm, and on house arrest. Here is her mugshot. She may never show again now that she has a record. She is also getting a GPS tracker (equivalent to an ankle monitor) as well as her sphynx sister. For an exotic breed lover, I am SO THANKFUL to Furry Friends for their clean, tidy facility and loving demeanor with understanding how incredibly upset I was.

She tried taking it to the vet but still nothing helped. when she politely reached out to the manager and asking if she can return the one, the manager was a snot and very demeaning. Making Jamie feel like she was a crappy pet owner and having to defend herself. Thankfully I am not as sweet as her and have no problem speaking my mind. She is the sweetest person and the way they made her feel angers me. The manager then decided to show up at her place sunday afternoon and ask for the cat back? I take him to the dog park here in Norwalk and he plays with other dogs just fine around balls, toys and around the water fountain and zero issue. I showed up to pick up my dog who was a shelter dog and was told that he got really aggressive towards another dog and that he cannot stay at their facility again unless he goes through their training which I'm sure costs an arm and a leg. I just told them ok because I can find other places to take my dog. I was fine with that. When I got home with my dog he SPRINTED towards his water bowl like he hasn't drank in days. That is where I draw the line. There's no reason to treat a pet like this and I hope other people do not have the same experience as I did. Should be a zero star I'm so upset.

After talking to multiple friends who go to different vets in the area, about what a standard check up should look like, they informed me a stool sample should be requested and they did not do that here, even when I asked about it - my friends mentioned that blood work is typically done, especially to make sure they are healthy, they did not do that here. When I asked for rabies vaccine, they tried to dismiss me and I insisted she had it done at this appointment. Overall was just disappointing and left me feeling uneasy.

My cat was sick and the ARL came by our apartment complex to give free check-ups and shots.They said he had Hyperthyrioidism. I am on a fixed income and theyi gave me a 250$ credit at this vet. I took him there and told them what the ARL vet said. They took him.Cleaned him up after puokping in hips carrier on the ridge over...and the carrier.....very nice of them. About 2 hours later they came out and said yep-Hyperthyroidism-that will be 400$....I choked!They never asked me if I could afford it...or told me what they were going to do.Not everybody keeps gold bars in their pockets.Let people know what needs to be done and what it costs-that's all. Luckily I keep a credit card on me for emergencies...so I had to pull it out. The medicin he gave me-25$ a vial for the reat of the cats life.I found it online for 11$.The blood test he said I had to have in 30-60 days to check his blood levels....he wants 122$.....and I can get it elswhere for 40$. I don't begrudge people making money....but I DON'T have it to hand out even if my cat is my ONLY friend.

Losing our Cane Corso was devastating, so my husband suggested we get another rescue dog. I was hesitant but knew he was probably right. We went to Kiya Koda, they arranged for us to meet the dog they felt best suited our needs considering my disability. We saw Molly the first time and she was so scared. She had apparently been at the shelter for almost a year, and when she came to them she may have been taken away from her puppies. It was evident she had been mistreated but she was so shy, and afraid so we made a point of going back two more times before we took her home. We picked her up just days before Christmas, the shelter personnel were there with her to see her off to her forever home. She was so loved, and we could see they were going to miss her a lot. They had so many animals there, I have never seen so many cats in one shelter in my life. We also saw a lot of dogs and they sure were in need of more space. We learned that they were trying to get funding for a new building, they had already purchased the land but needed a building. My husband and I took Molly home and we are working with Katie who has Fur Pete's Sake dog training program and volunteered at Kiya Koda to help them out. We continue to work with Molly to help her get over her fear of cars, dogs barking, meeting new people as well as learning she doesn't have to hide to be safe. It is an ongoing part of our life now, helping Molly to trust us, know that we love her, and know she can overcome her fears. I have to say that Kiya Koda was so good in letting us get to know Molly and they make a point of checking up on how she is doing. I really wish there was some way we could help, however we have decided to make out our will to leave our property and any wealth we have, if my husband and I should die at the same time, to Kiya Koda. We are working on that now to have it just in case something should happen to us. We do hope to be around for some time because we want to have Molly find her forever home with us as long as possible. Having a dog it just something we need, as well as dogs need people who love them, and here in our town we need Kiya Koda to take in the dogs and cats that need to be cared for until they find their Forever Home!
