I've purchased a few used cars here over the years from the Porsche/Audi dealership before it split, and each time the transaction was painless, quick, and more than fair. If you search used inventory from any of the dealerships here on their site, you can see the used inventory from all the dealerships in one place, and if you have a preferred salesperson, they can transfer any car to their spot and you can make the deal with whoever you want. Each time I've purchased a vehicle, I went home and checked auctions for similar cars, and each time my purchase price was less than the average price at auction. This is a volume dealership, so they don't have to gouge you on the price, they make money by selling a lot of cars. Also, with thier used inventory, you always have the option to purchase an extended warranty. They stand behind each car for as long as you want them to. I've had service done at the bmw dealer, bought 2 cars from the Audi dealer, and now sat firsthand through a purchase at mini, and I can say that each time I've dealt with anyone here, things have always gone well and everyone left happy. So a friend of mine needed a car, and was in panic mode about financing, and had gone to a few places and left upset and afraid that she wouldn't be able to get what she needed. As we all know, buying a car can be a real pain in the ass and she'd mentioned to me that she'd been to a few places and not felt as though she could get the right deal. So I went and picked her up, told her to come with me to this dealership and take a look and see what they could do. Absolutely amazing experience. We dealt with Valerie Wallace, who made the whole endeavor take less than an hour. My friend got the payments in the range that she needed, with the money down that she had available, for a car that was still under factory warranty, and which averaged about 2000 less than the same car on a nationwide search of carmax. We had espresso and snacks from the waiting area, (because yes, they have free espresso and snacks there), and ended up finishing the deal and driving right away in a shiny new car. Easy as could be. I just can't say enough good things about these guys. Huge inventory, great pricing, reliable cars for which warranties are offered, very friendly and professional staffing, pleasant environment...they really just can't be beat. 3 out of 3 times, the deal took less than an hour and everything went exactly as we wanted. I have purchased 4 cars from this dealership. The first 2 went perfect. But the salesperson I used left and the last two purchases, both within the last year, were horrible. The dealership only had one key to each vehicle. They promised they would order additional keys but never followed up. After repeated calls, they now say I will have to purchase an extra fob for nearly $400 each. The collection of dealers have condensed their finance department and don't seem to know much about finance. They don't follow up on calls, have a very limited selection and pay no attention to personal requests. And after you purchase a vehicle, they're done. The salespeople have absolutely no desire to commit to the things they said they'd do. The service department is very good, if you are inclined to paying dealer prices for small repairs, but other than that, you get better service and knowledge if you use an online car shopping service. My daughter and I were traveling from South Carolina to Arkansas when we ruined a tire/rim on the interstate about 40 miles from Birmingham. The local folks weren't able to fix it or get a rim. I had been looking for a particular Mini Cooper S in the Denver-metro area for some time, when I had stumbled upon the perfect car a mere 1400 miles away from my home. The car had been traded in with less than 2,000 miles on it, and it was everything that I hoped it would be when I arrived at Mini of Birmingham. Prior to my arrival, I had communicated with the General Manager, John Scanlan, first, and he later introduced me to Tony Bugeja. Both John and Tony were professional and personable, and they were certainly accommodating during my visit. Although there is always a level of doubt in having a transaction go smooth when committing to purchase a vehicle, site unseen, these gentleman described and disclosed all information about my Cooper S exactly as it appeared. These are the type of guys that love what they do, and go the extra mile to ensure a relationship that will last long beyond the purchase of a car. The customer service is terrible. The service department was to order a part and call us after the part comes in. Almost a year later the service department does not return calls or emails. We went into the dealership and the part was never ordered. During the visit we inquired about trading our current car in for a new model. We waited 2 hours to get the numbers and finally said we had to leave. They were going to email the numbers. Maybe we need to wait another year to get those numbers. read more

I have a 2010 Mini Cooper that has been serviced by these guys 5 times in the last 2 years. They have done a pretty good job of actually carrying out the service, but they are completely unresponsive when I have had an occasional question by phone. I have probably called 10 - 15 times over 2 years to ask a question, and have had those phone calls answered or returned once or twice. Meanwhile, my email is barraged by advertisements 1 - 2 times per month for new lease or sales opportunities. They obviously spend more on trying to get new customers than they do on keeping current customers happy; that may work in the short-term, but they are unlikely to get my business as a return customer. read more

My initial visit was great, although the process took longer than expected. But it was afterwards that the service has been unbelievably horrible. I have emailed and left voice messages for both the sales person, and the sales manager(4 messages, not one single response) and have only gotten one return call from the sales person. I am still waiting for a response on those issues many weeks later. We have bought our last 5-6 vehicles for our family from Donohoo Auto, and their pricing and service has been amazing. My only reason for straying was that I wanted a specific color combination, man what a mistake! Here's why: I bought a car from Mini on November 28, and my wife bought different car from Donohoo Auto on November 29th. I left a message the next day and am still trying to get a response on a couple of issues from Mini. I've even left the Sales Manager Jason 4 messages and can't get any response at all(today is December 27th). Now, my wife on the other hand, had an issue the following Thursday. She sent an email to her salesperson, got a response 15 minutes later asking us to bring it and drop it off at lunch. They had a loaner car ready when we arrived without even having to asking for it. They fixed the car and returned it the next day and apologized for us having to deal with the minor issue. BUT, a month later and I can't even get a phone call from Mini. Here's my issues: the Google CarPlay is having issues, the car is making an odd noise, and we negotiated tinting the windows as part of the original deal. I was able to contact the Service Department to get the windows tinted. But they couldn't give a loner, and to,d me it would be 1 1/2 hours to do so I scheduled the tinting appointment. The young man told me he was running around 30 minutes late, so I anticipated 2 hours and it took 4 1/2 hours. I ended up having to cancel 2 appointments, which costs me money. When I got it back, there was liquid all over doors and seats, everything was in disarray, and no instructions on what to do. Fast forward about a week and the tint job turned out badly with bubbles and looks a mess. I went in person again and the Service Department was very nice and got the tint guy to come look. He said he would needs to replace the back tint again(needs much more), and couldn't give me a loner this time either. I told him "I thought that's what you had to do twice the first time?" He said "Oh, I did it 5-6 times the first time. I haven't ever done this and nobody is teaching me so I'm learning on my own as I go." I purchased a used 2010 Chevy Equinox from Tom Williams Mini of Birmingham on Nov. 28, 2014, This vehicle cost approximately $11,000. The very next morning, I turned the air conditioner on and discovered that the air conditioner compressor was broken; I had not turned the A/C on during the test drive since it was cold that day. This dealer KNOWINGLY sold me a defective vehicle and of course refused to make things right. I thought buying a car at a large established dealership would protect me from this sort of dishonesty but I was wrong. The replacement A/C compressor cost me over $1,500 to replace on a car that cost $11,000. read more

I've worked in the auto industry over 18 years so I'm well verst in car quality not to mention that I owned the same vehicle a year younger. He did a great job selling me on this car over the phone without me physically seeing the car. I can't leave out the fact that I live in Decatur AL. I made an appointment to have a recalled part replaced on my Mini Countryman. While there, I was told their computer threw a flag of warning saying the coolant pump AND the thermostat needed to be replaced. The service manager wrote this down for me upon my request. I took my car to another Mini service department which plugged the car into their identical equipment and found no warning. I would have spent $1,500 on unnecessary repairs! FURIOUS!!! Bought a Cooper from another dealer and purchased a extended warranty from National Auto Care. Turbo was suppose to be covered for all internally lubricated parts. I asked the service personal if the part that was broken was a internally lubricated part he said yes. They said that that part was not covered by the warranty. Buyer beware. read more

A trip here is a bad way to start a Saturday. My husband and I started our day of car shopping with a visit to Tom Williams Mini to test drive a used car we had our eye on. As soon as we got out of the car, he was on us! I say "he" because the salesman didn't introduce himself and I still don't know his name. He wasn't much into service, just sales pressure and bad information. We had already located the car on the lot, so we told the salesman which car we wanted to see and it's location. As we walked to the car, he told us how awesome and unusual the car was BUT we were told we couldn't test drive the car because it hadn't been serviced--we could only look at it and sit inside. . .So it's listed for sale on your website, but I can't drive it?? Then he asked us repeatedly why we hadn't brought our trade-in with us today. . . Umm, because we aren't up to that part yet. He disappeared into the building to get the keys. We waited and I was already irritated. When he came back, guess what?! Someone was coming this afternoon to buy the car, so it was now or never if we wanted it! He decided we could, in fact, drive it and he had constantly changing rules-- "I have to drive it to the front of the dealership before you can drive it." Then "I have to drive it off the property." I think he just wanted to drive it and show off the car. Once we finally drove it ourselves, he continued to apply pressure throughout the drive-- he wanted to know how far away we lived and how long it would take us to go home to get our trade-in. "Remember, someone else is coming to buy this car, so this is your chance." "Look how clean the car is, it's in perfect shape." Hmm, you mean all the dog hair on the B-pillar and the ceiling? Ok.
