Thanks to Hotels.com, where I booked my hotel room at the Hampton Inn Bloomington East. Hampton Inn is a good name hotel brand that's owned by Hilton hotels, I believe. Fast forward when I arrived here via Uber from the Mall of America after a day of shopping and things. I stayed here for a night and it was comfortable and pleasant. I arrived here around 4pm on a Friday afternoon and got checked in. The front desk counter Service here was pretty good and got checked in within five minutes. The check out service was non existent since I left the hotel around 6am and there was a hotel key lockbox, so I just dropped the hotel key in there and checked out the complementary hotel breakfast before I was on my way. It was only one night and enjoyed a few of the hotel's amenities, namely the ice machine and the aforementioned complimentary breakfast. I choose the hotel because of its proximity to Normandale Lake Park, which was around a mile walk from the hotel. I enjoyed the lobby and it was fresh and clean. The hotel room I got was a king bed. I probably paid about $149/night but that was okay, since I wanted to be close to the park. The hotel room itself was good and typical. It was clean and had all the basic amenities most hotels in the industry has. It was a typical hotel room that met expectations and was a good stay. Everything worked in the room, including the TV and the shower. No problems during my stay and it was good. The overall experience here at this Hampton Inn hotel in Bloomington, MN was good and nice. I feel like Hampton Inn is a good place to choose for your hotel needs. The brand is owned by Hilton, I believe, so you'll be in good hands. The room itself had a mini fridge and a microwave in the room. Getting else was standard. It is cool to be lounging in the room, eating dinner, while watching TV. Something cool and nice about it while traveling away from home. The room itself was clean and everything worked the way it should be. The complimentary breakfast was hit or miss. It just depends on what you enjoy in a good breakfast. I did enjoy unlimited self service orange juice though. Had about 5 cups of it before I left the hotel to Normandale Lake Park. The king bed was quite nice and very comfortable. Got in a decent amount of sleep and felt moderately Refreshed for the day ahead. Definitely enjoyed the stay here at this Hampton Inn location in Bloomington, MN. The shower water was cold. It was not even warm I ended up going to the pool, which was warmer, to clean up. I had just got a massage and the pool helped to wash off the oil, so that was actually very nice. Try another location as it was too bizarre to accept at the Bloomington location.

We also had a corner room and our neighbor next door was extremely loud. You hear the door slam shut so many times and the walls were paper thin. My friend had to call front desk to let them know it was so loud, it was around 1-2am. For breakfast, it was complimentary. It was okay. They had the space eggs, and a dry ass sausage patty. One day they had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were old and hard and it broke my friends plastic knife when she tried to cut it lol. Only good thing was the waffle maker. Breakfast could skip. There was also a strange clicking noise, we were not able to identify it and it was quite annoying. Parking was expensive. Nothing went wrong, but the hotel wasn't great. PROS: For the price, it offers all the basics, a clean, compact modern minimalist room, hard floors, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, large flat screen TV, several charging ports (USB and plug), several lamps, full length mirror, shampoo, conditioner and lotion wall dispensers, good shower, comfy bed, hair dryer, alarm clock. Convenient location -- walking distance to the Metro, visitor center, restaurants, skywalks, shops, cafes, riverfront, Mill City Museum, etc. Luggage drop off -- the first day we arrived mid-morning before our room was ready and they allowed us to drop our luggage off. Access to the skywalks from the hotel stairwell. Friendly staff. I thought the staff were very good, especially George in the breakfast area. He might talk your ear off a bit, but he offered some useful tourist info and made the experience more warm and inviting. The front desk staff were always cordial and willing to help. Breakfast buffet is your usual selection of hotel chain offerings, which included a nice vat of plain oatmeal with toppings. Also offered, dry cereals, flavored yogurts, boiled eggs, waffles, hot items like eggs, omelets, etc., tea, coffee, juice, fruits including bananas and oranges, breads, muffins. As Hilton Honor members, we were given snacks and water on arrival. Always a welcome touch. Use the nearby Nicollet Mall or Government Plaza Metro train stops. The Metro and station are slightly sketchy. There's also a bus stop and mail box outside the hotel. CONS: The room was cold and we couldn't seem to alter the room temperature. The front desk leant us a space heater for the remainder of our stay, which helped. (Obviously we weren't the first to complain of a cold room!) The HVAC system in the room is on constantly and had a loud hissing noise. Housekeeping service is every-other day. Expensive parking. We didn't have a car, but the sign outside said overnight valet was $47 a night, plus tax. Oversized/XL vehicles $57, plus tax. What a rip off! One set of towels. Sometimes when you're traveling, you like to shower twice a day and want an extra dry set. We asked for a second set of towels at the desk and they were happy to oblige. No pool. They do have a gym, but we didn't use it.

But, that did put things on the wrong foot since I was already overwhelmed after navigating a new city's downtown and the parking debacle. The room itself was nice, for the most part. I was placed on the 2nd floor which was very convienent since there is easy access to the skyway. The hotel is in downtown MPLS so lots of easy walking access to restaurants and bars. I had some gripes with the room. Firstly, I discovered the switch NEXT to the master switch turned off the outlets on the side of the bed. Meaning I couldn't turn on the lamps, charge my phone, etc unless if I had this switch on, which also turns on the kitchenette light. It was pretty inconvienent and irritating. The light on the desk also did not turn on for whatever reason. Lastly, just as I was exiting my room to check out, I noticed a cockroach crawling from the kitchenette...ugh! I was pretty concerned because I cooked some food a couple times in the kitchenette. I reported to front desk as I was checking out.
