The customer service that I encountered seem nice. Being a believer in a mostly liberal state it was nice to see a business that wasn't ashamed about their beliefs - for that I appreciate what they are trying to do. In regards to price - some products are a little expensive compared to your bigger box retailers. Make sure your wallet knows that to help any impulse buys. This program allows them to not properly care for the plants they carry. It also allows them to avoid educating their staff in regards to proper care. ​​ The staff at the Mustard Seed prove that you get what you pay for. ​While some of the younger staff may not have the answers, they are willing to find someone who can. The staff is welcoming and go out of their way to help to the best of their ability. I have been coming here for years for annuals, veggies and perennials. It's incredibly rare that I have an experience that left me feeling dissatisfied (no one is perfect). ​ The one thing that stands out at this garden center is that they do their very best to find specific plants just for you. I love this place. ​​I appreciate the help from the staff and the education I receive when I ask for help. ​

Fall is a great time to buy plants and trees with most things on sale. This weekend they had perennials for 50 to 75% off. Many plants were just 2 or 3 dollars. I took my Toro mower in because the recoil was stuck or I was thinking it could have been a broken…read morespring. I get an estimate back from them (NOTHING pertaining to recoil at all). The estimate is for $192 - UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! They tell me I need a new rocker cover gasket and my brake cable is broke & a new spark plug. The labor alone is $139. They charged me $50 deposit of which you only get $15 back if you decide to go elsewhere to have the repair done and a BENCH FEE on top of it! When I went down to their lower level to pick it up it had all kinds of white paint & new scratches on it (that were not there when I dropped it off). Also, they drained all the gas out of it and it was bone dry (when I dropped it off it was 3/4 full of gas). They also dropped the deck height (not sure why). I got the mower repaired the next day and the only issue was it needed a new spark plug and removed some oil. Prairie Lawn & Garden is horribly OVERPRICED and your equipment does not come back in the same condition you dropped it off. Lacking in customer service also. Go elsewhere.....
