This is a proud Christian owned garden and landscape business on the outskirts of Chaska. I went…read morethere in April around Easter, and a lot of the outdoor product offerings weren't available yet due to a late winner. This business does try to be a one stop shop for a wide variety of customers. Whether you're just looking for a gift, you have a pot on your deck you want filled, or you have a more substantial landscape need - the mustard seed should be able to help you. The customer service that I encountered seem nice. Being a believer in a mostly liberal state it was nice to see a business that wasn't ashamed about their beliefs - for that I appreciate what they are trying to do. In regards to price - some products are a little expensive compared to your bigger box retailers. Make sure your wallet knows that to help any impulse buys. (...being funny because there is a lot of cuteness) Overall, I'll be visiting again and would recommend a visit if you're in the area!

As a plant nerd I often visit multiple local garden centers, avoiding big box stores after learning…read morethey participate in a form of consignment called "Scan to Pay" which means they carry zero financial risk for the plants they sell. This program allows them to not properly care for the plants they carry. It also allows them to avoid educating their staff in regards to proper care. The staff at the Mustard Seed prove that you get what you pay for. While some of the younger staff may not have the answers, they are willing to find someone who can. The staff is welcoming and go out of their way to help to the best of their ability. I have been coming here for years for annuals, veggies and perennials. It's incredibly rare that I have an experience that left me feeling dissatisfied (no one is perfect). The one thing that stands out at this garden center is that they do their very best to find specific plants just for you. I love this place. I appreciate the help from the staff and the education I receive when I ask for help.

What a find! You'd never know it's there, but great selection and super helpful staff. Very…read morereasonable pricing too. I didn't want to battle 494 traffic and construction to getting to Gertens, but this place was just as good (even better). Save yourself the trip and go here.

Twin Orchards Nursery is a hidden gem for both serious and casual gardeners and landscapers…read more Their nursery is located on nearly 3 acres in a residential area of Shorewood (near Lake Minnetonka). The owners and operators are Alan and Jerod, who are experts in their craft, but also very down-to-earth. They have been in business for more than 30 years. While the great bulk of their revenue comes from their commercial clients, they opened to the retail public several years ago. It amazes me how passionate they are to serve and educate the public. In other words, they don't view the individual retail buyers (like me) as "small fish", or as a nuisance. They simply have a great passion for plants, and they want to pass along that passion. The selection of perennials is the best I have seen in the Twin Cities (550 different varieites). Think of it as Bachman's multiplied by a factor of 5 (or more) -- while having prices that are more affordable than Bachman's. The health and quality of their plants is outstanding. A typical 1-gallon perennial plant goes for about $10 right now. While that may be a few dollars more than Home Depot or Lowe's, keep in mind you are gaining access to varieties of perennials that you won't find at those stores. Plus, you are getting fuller, more developed, healthier plants. Beyond their expansive selection of perennials, Twin Orchards also sells a fine selection of flowering shrubs, herbs, and vegetables. Twin Orchards maintains an excellent website and Facebook page. They offer an annual catalog on their website, and they also maintain a plant availability spreadsheet online that is updated throughout the season. * I should mention that I have zero relation to the team at Twin Orchards. I am just a very satisfied customer.
