I went with MN Rusco intending to have an easy installation and future security after hearing window installation horror stories. At the end of the installation, I can definitively say the quality does not match the cost. As a first time homeowner and window purchaser, I trusted my Sales Rep to walk me through the pros and cons and in that first meeting, I trusted him as he pointed out alternatives that were more cost efficient. He met with me multiple times to walk me through my choices and make sure I was comfortable with them; however, by the second meeting comments disregarding the importance of cost versus happiness were said consistently as he pushed me towards more expensive options even though they were not in my best interest. The windows did come earlier than expected and the installers were nice, but did a subpar job and then dismissed my requests to fix the quality of installation. All in all, I would suggest saving your money, getting double pane windows from a different company that costs less and probably has much better service. Update: Six months after installation, a piece of the window broke off. I submitted a warranty request and have not heard from the company in over six weeks. I have followed up multiple times inquiring about the warranty request and no one has responded to my emails or attempted to reach out for resolution. read more

We hired MN Rustc to remodel our downstairs bathroom. The promise was to get the job finished in one week. They were supposed to start on a Monday but called and said another job ran late so they would start Tuesday instead but would still finish by Friday. Two days into the job after the demolition of the existing fixtures and floor etc they had to stop because they did not have the necessary building permit. When they finally got that squared away they were held up another 2 weeks because they measured the shower walls incorrectly and had to order additional materials. A job that was supposed to be finished in one week took one month to complete. That meant we did not have a usable bathroom on the lower level and we were living in a mess for a month rather than a week. When I asked for a reduction in price because of the delay I was told there is a place in the contract that I'd initialed saying there were no discounts for delays. When the line on the contract was explained, the sales person said it was in case there was a problem getting materials or we made changes. Since both delays were clearly the fault of MN Rustco and not getting the necessary building permit and not measuring correctly are mistakes you don't expect from a professional company I think they should have been held more accountable. read more

Our experience with RUSCO was subpar! We wanted our shower redone with ONYX. I contacted RUSCO because of the great rat A sales representative came with his supervisor. It was only because of the supervisor that we signed on and gave a 50% down payment. I sent the supervisor a letter with our concerns about the worker! We knew that it would be several months before the installation. Another RUSCO employee came to measure and inspect the shower! Then we waited. On the first planned day of the redo 2 young workers came. They were in the bathroom with the shower and after about 2 hours and many phone calls with supervisors informed us, that the measurements were incorrect and the shower drain would need to be accessed from the floor below. We live in a condo and that is not an option. The next day another worker came and told us the same thing and advised us that we would get a phone after the weekend. The whole redo was supposed to take 2 days. In the follow up phone call, we were advised, that RUSCO could not do our job. A check would be in the mail! Five days later NO CHECK! I had my Bathroom completely remodeled and it was way more of a expensive project than it was worth for a modest house. MN Rusco did a very poor job (all the way around) the first time and the manager agreed to re-do the shower stall and patch bad walls etc. The first crew put dents and gouges in my new cabinets and their workmanship was VERY POOR. I've had to complain about 5 times now on things that just are not done well. The whole job was a disaster and I would never recommend MN Rusco to anyone with any project. I could go on and on but I hope anyone reading this will be warned that Rusco is not a quality contractor. read more

Roofing estimate requested from them. WARNING: Don't buy from them unless you're willing to buy from a "roofing" company that won't send a real roofer out to inspect your roof. In fact, the sales person they send won't even go up onto your roof; claims their insurance won't allow them to. All they will do is take pictures from the ground which they claim are sent to some satellite and then downloaded with all the information they need to asses what your roof needs. Even with 75% +5% = 80% labor discount plus a Veteran's discount, their price was still $10,000 higher than two other roofing companies said a complete roof replacement should cost. Making matters worse, Minnesota Rusco wanted me to take their deal right away without talking to any other roofing companies. I insisted I had no intention of buying the same day from anyone. I was given a printed estimate good until 5/31/24, but not at their price and not from someone who wouldn't/couldn't inspect the roof. Oh, they would include one 10'x10' area of "free" decking replacement, but any decking needing to be replaced after that would be done at $265 per 10'x10' area. Other roofers said that would be done at $50 to $80. Rusco also does not deal with insurance companies and two other roofers said they would work with my insurance company because they thought I had hail damage warranting insurance claim. read more

Heres why we think all these remodel business are a scam. This one particular because we had them in our home. For 3 hours a guy pitched and demonstrated the service and product. 3 hours of his and our time ok? After which we had a total of about 40,000 dollars for our small project. Floored! So fine, its expensive, i get it. 2 months later we noted one of their sales. All labor included or something like that. BS You dont get get free labor 60 percent or more of the cost is labor. Now if i was that salesman that was here, and the company just came out with that "sale" i would be on the phone callin us and letting us know how much money is coming off the original quote. Our 40k would surely have dropped to at leat 30. Even half! But no call. Not even a follow up of any kind. But if they really offer free labor then he would have called and pitched it again. A showe surround and 80sq ft of floor tile and tub is 40,000 dollars? And a few fixtures? No. Sorry. All labor included BS. Dont fall for it. It aint true. read more

I said they should tell me what they had and I would confirm. The call went no where. the day of the appointment, they didn't show up. when I called, I got transferred to "scheduling" and ended up being sent to voicemail. no return call and no communication. I had my bathroom remodeled by Rusco 2 1/2 years ago. I am the only one using the bathroom. The door latch for the Medicine cabinet has been broken for 6 months, with normal use. The bigger problem is every winter when it gets cold the drain in the bathtub freezes so water doesn't drain. This has happened several times each winter since the bathroom was finished. It is frozen right now so I can't use the shower or bathtub. Rusco was here the first time it happened but didn't fix the problem. If I don't get up every couple of hours to run hot water it will be frozen in the morning. I never had this problem with my old bathtub! I paid a whole lot of money for this problem. read more

Eldery Beware**. My elderly mother chose MN Rusco for replacing her siding on her house. They delivered and installed a vinyl product instead of what she ordered, which was composite. When she complained that it was the wrong color, they told her that it was better, and they'd credit her $1500, and had her sign that she agreed to it. after it was already being installed. She was not told it was vinyl instead of composite, they use brand names instead. She didn't realize it was vinyl until I visited. She was livid. They also damaged an interior outlet during installation. To "repair" it, they just moved a nearby live outlet's wiring, so she still lost an outlet. They did not put siding on a previously sided 3' x 2' x 0.5' box near the front door that holds an exterior light. They simply covered it with wood & painted it to match. When she told them this was not right, they said the J piece was too large and it wouldn't look right, no other option offered. She wants something that will last longer than painted plywood, and so was still waiting for them to return to side this. It has never been done, nor was it explained at the time of the estimate and planning. I feel they took advantage of her as a single elderly woman, and have been very pushy to her, despite her patience and repeated requests to fix these problems. They have not apologized. Very disappointed. Customer Service is surprisingly poor for such a large entity. So much disorganization & total lack of communication between their contractors and office. This was a totally new restoration of bathroom with all new cabinets, plumbing fixtures. Plumbing was to be installed into the new poured concrete, yet for new installed tub plumbing, they measured wrong and it shows in the pictures. They came to house asking us questions about project, they had NO PLANS or measurements! they had no clue on materials or location of product. At one point, they wanted to install the new free standing tub with obvious damage, and too tight to fit into space! Even though they did the measuring and selection of tub when 1st contracted. We had to wait an add'l 2 weeks to get a new tub that fit space. We had to tell them we had ordered a mirror and they had no clue, we were told he needed to go check around the warehouse! We had a salesman come to our home for a simple quote on some windows that are in need of replacement. He claimed that he was not a "high pressure" salesperson. After nearly five excruciating hours of listening to a sales pitch, he was very pushy about trying to get us to sign up that day and was upset that we wanted to have more time to think about our options (I don't think that is too much to ask when presented with a quote in the mid five figure range!). It would sure be nice if companies such as this were more transparent about pricing and did not subject their potential customers to such unnecessary, lengthy sales pitches. We were able to get price quotes from several competitors in a small fraction of the time (and cost) that we did from this company. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Brandon was our contractor with MN Rusco. Attention to detail was incredible. He had to go above and beyond to install both front and back doors as well as screen doors. There were structural issues with thresholds impeding the installation which added time for him. The first day he worked over 12 hours until he was satisfied with the outcome. We had a walk in shower and vanity installed by Rusco. All in all we were pleased with the results. The contractor gained our confidence and we asked him to do some additional work. So before he left our house we wrote a check for $1500 as a deposit for him to come back and start work on our next project. He missed the start date of the agreed upon work citing a death in the family. We had to call him to find to find this out. He once again said that he would be out to start our project. I have called him four times now and asked when he would be out to start the project and he continued to be a no show although he has cashed the deposit check. Finally I asked for our money back since we felt he had no intention of doing the work. He agreed to come to the house and refund our money. It has been 90 days now and he still has not shown up. My wife is disabled and the work to be done would have made it easier for her to move within our house. I am of the opinion that he has scammed other Mn Rusco customers as well and we are furious. Unbelievably poor customer service as they were a no-show. I had spoken with a representative to set up an appointment, they texted me to confirm I texted back. Then they tried to call again and get me to call AGAIN to speak to me to RE-RE confirm and I did not call again after already sending a text. Honestly, if you're going to go with this company get the sales rep that comes to your house to give you a detailed break down of the entire work order. Their sales reps like to just give you a number to pad their commission. If they refuse to give you a break down on material costs, labor costs, etc. go somewhere else. I got screwed by them. I had new windows and a 3/4 bathroom put in. It was $25K for the windows, which I had no problem with, but then they charged me $25K for my bathroom which was a shower (no door), a toilet, a 33" vanity, the did plumbing/electrical, sheetrock, mud/tape, a vinyl type flooring and a hollow-core door. The bathroom measures 64" x 117", so it's not a big bathroom at all. I demanded a break down of the costs and it took them two weeks to send it to me. It wasn't a true break down, it was just them putting numbers together to add up to the $25K. I will say that the workman that came out were great. They kept me informed on their progress, any problems, etc. Them I had no problems with. Just watch out for the sales reps, who tell you one thing, than go another. I was told the 60% off labor was only good for the State Fair deal, and yet I see it advertised every day. JUST FRIENDLY ADVICE, USE CAUTION WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

Stay away from this place. I have not had good experiences with them so far and by the reviews I can see others have not as well. Seems like a bottom feeding company that does real shoddy work. Even recent comments on their website on Facebook itself shows that they have issues with people trying to get a hold of them for problems with a bathroom install. They seem fake when you call and will transfer you around for fifteen minutes at a time to various voicemails instead of trying to figure out what the problem is when you are trying to determine where they are when they were supposed to show up at your house. If they are supposed to be there then you want to know now what is going on and whether they are going to bother to honor their commitments...not 3 days from now when they bother to return the call if even then. when you call them one day before the appointment to verify times and shorten the window down that generally should mean your interested. You should not have to find out they are not coming when you have waited for 3 hours for them to show up. I was working and so the appointment was just going to be my wife. I fully trust her ability to make decisions regarding our bathroom, but it appears that I was the only one. Rusco refused to even come out to do an estimate without a man present. At least we now know in advance what a backwards company this is before giving them any money. First was full house windows including a sliding glass door and a beautiful bow window, second was amazing doors on our house front and side, third was a total bathroom remodel to include plumbing, electrical, flooring, tile, new toilet and tub, vanity and countertop. We love the new everything and want to highly recommend Minnesota Rusco and their amazing workforce for this dream bath. Workers were very experienced, had great suggestions, always communicated when they would be arriving and totally cleaned up after themselves every day and took all garbage and old materials with them each day. We added on a extra window after they put 3 other windows on our house. They said they would just add it to our other bill that we are making payments through synchrony for us. We thought perfect! We don't have to worry about this they will take care of that for us. We were wrong and they called us demanding we pay full price today for the last window they installed claiming they have no recollection of them saying they will add it to the other bill payments for the other windows. This company WILL NOT work with you if you try to cancel the order after the three day rescission period. Unavoidable family health problems occurred after ordering that I needed to cancel the order and they couldn't care less. I tried talking to management, left messages, and no return call. The salesperson tried telling me it was past the rescission period, people had been put to work on my order already (which was absolutely untrue), and yada yada. Also, the salesperson would not give me a breakdown of the cost of the door stating he couldn't because they didn't want their competitors to know their prices (was told this later on after I was told the doors couldn't be canceled). Minnesota Rusco is in no way a company I would recommend to anyone. I had taken over two years to install four basic insert windows in our rambler style home. They measured incorrectly twice. Brought the wrong products several times. The wrapping of the windows didn't match the windows of the previous windows, they had to be redone. The installers were great but told us that the company itself was completely mismanaged and we found this to be very true every time we had a discussion with the President Mike. Mike made big promises of how he would make things right, he even came to our house twice and when he spoke to us, we discovered it was just a canned sentence he was used to repeating because he had no clue who we were or what was going on with our account. Let's just say, not one thing was made right. So my parting advice is this, if Minnesota Rusco is offering free items and discounts, it is because you will definitely be the one paying in the long run. We certainly did. read more

I know from experience through family working at other businesses, that some reviews posted on Yelp are just to sabotage businesses. I just wanted to give people some advice about home-improvement contacts made at home shows. In the future I will not do it again. I got two companies to come out and give me quotes but what I got was 2 pretty aggressive sales pitches, although the sales people were very pleasant. I wanted to go with a tile tub shower replacement but my husband wanted a different material and I did not want to sit through another long sales pitch finding a corroborating estimate. Minnesota Russo gave us a pretty high estimate. But they were selling the right materials. So I pulled the trigger instead of spending more time. The problem is they do not communicate with you. I didn't hear from them for several weeks when I called trying to get an answer to a question to make sure they were using the right specifications. When they did come to do the installation, the materials did not fit. So we had to live with a tore up bathroom until they could get it re-ordered. It's a good thing we have a second bath. The installers did a good job although they damaged the windowsill on our stairwell slightly. An installer came back to check it out after a couple of weeks when I made that comment on my customer satisfaction survey. He said they would fix it but they never contacted us again. It was a long drawn out process and I will never rely on 50 years in business as a qualifying factor again. read more

We had an appointment to get an estimate on a shower replacement, and thought we could take advantage of the no interest promo being offered, unfortunately, a rep called us the day of the appointment to say he was overbooked, and that we can call and make another appointment. Almost understandable if we hadn't made the appointment far in advance. We didn't think it was our responsibility to make contact for another appointment when the issue was on their end. I scheduled an appointment and after 2 failed attempts (one was excused as the impact of the riots in Minneapolis created the delay, the second one seemed to be a mistake with the scheduler for which day I actually set...Neither time did they call me to tell me, I had to call to ask where they were?) to make the appointment, Scott came out, barely looked at the areas I wanted completed, and then spent the majority of time telling me that I needed to be able to make a decision that moment or else 1. This would cost more. 2. It would be difficult for him to set further appointments to discuss this because he was so busy. 3. He barely gave me a verbal estimate of the 3 projects. He gave me a verbal pie in the sky estimate not explaining any of the features or costs that contributed to that price. It seems to me when he learned that my wife would have a say in the decision and I couldn't make the decision that moment, he was set against actually providing any details of the project cost. I assume he figured that he was busy enough working on other people's projects that waiting for us his new customer, to make a decision was too much of an imposition. I found the high pressure sales tactic to sour my impression of your company. I work with sales people every day and what I can tell you here is that this guy simply tried to make me feel "guilty" that I wasted his time by even coming out (finally making the appointment) and he went on to say that he needed to schedule whoever I talked on the phone with because they should have told me it was a REQUIREMENT that all decision makers had to be present for the appointment. Whether my wife was there at the time of the appointment or not, we would have taken a few days to decide ONCE WE RECEIVED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE (common procedure when investing 20K or more I would think) but Scott seemed to think it was crazy that we would need the time to decide. He then went on to tell me how great the company was and that they only use the best products and that if I went to Home Depot I would just get some crappy doors and a crappy tub.... Oddly enough I have purchased from Home Depot, and Menards, and Lowes and received better treatment and products that lasted the life of my property. This was an extremely disappointing experience. If this is indicative of your companies sales staff, then people must be desperate for this work to be done for you guys to be so successful. My guess is that this was just how one person treated me. My suggestions: 1. Listen to your customer. We might say something useful. 2. Talk about what is actually going to be done to make them comfortable with the process. 3. Spend less time bashing someone else's product and more time on the value of your products. 4. Provide OPTIONS, don't just TELL ME what you are going to do. From the talk with Scott it seemed as if I had two choices, his way, or not with MN Rusco. 5. Lay out the cost estimate. Your customer may just know a little bit about it and then. 6. Provide a written estimate with pictures of the projects (Scott said he didn't have pictures of the doors and the only picture of the tub was on his iPad from above.....
