View from our balcony at the ridge, late evening.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming, peaceful and quiet lodge. Wonderful view out the back towards the mountain ridge; with a delightful staff and engaging owner. They went above and beyond making us feel welcome and appreciated!

It was great vacationing here. The staff was informative and friendly. They had a fire pit that was lit every night from 6pm to about 11pm, which was awesome if you didn't have anything to do at night, but still wanted to enjoy the night before going to bed. It was very serene and quiet, if you're looking for that in a vacation than this is the spot. There is a convenient and restaurant store walking distance from the lodge, which is cool. I will definitely be coming back here again.

My wife and I took a trip upstate recently just to get away for a few days. We decided to go with minnewaska lodge because it seemed a little nicer than the normal hotels on the highway. Overall the hotel and staff were great. The rooms were nice and the lodge had a warm feeling to it. My only small gripe is I wish it had a couple more amenities, maybe a pool or gym perhaps? However the free cookies and coffee in the lobby were excellent! Breakfast was very good and consisted of hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereals, muffins etc. Lots to choose from, and very good coffee too! We were supposed to stay longer but had a family emergency. A big thank you to Tammy and Rebecca who let us check out early and recuperate most of our money, it meant a lot to us. The surrounding towns are fairly quiet but the preserve and mountains seem like they would be great to adventure out on, as we only got to see them partially, due to the icy paths. Very good hotel :)

Ugly fake climbing holds attached to a beautiful ancient cliff

I can't believe that this place would detract from the beautiful natural surroundings by allowing employees to secure artificial climbing holds to a natural cliff. Seems antithetical to the purpose of visiting a place like this. I would hope that they would show better ethics and valued that this

The lodge is has amazing scenery that you view as you pull into parking lot with mountains just past the rear of lot. The lodge itself offers breakfast and a nice place to meet and chit chat with fellow visitors each morning. The rooms are spacious and clean. Great place for a romantic getaway or just a quiet time vacation. We brought our 3 boys and they had a great time as well. Every night thy light up 2 gas fire pits and even offer s'mores. The state park is about 3 miles away with swimming and numerous trails of different difficulties. There's also an amazing waterfall there. If you need food or dining, you only need to drive 6 miles to the nearest town and they have loads of neat small specialty shops and restaurants. The lodge itself has fast WiFi (but you won't be using it on this getaway). The only negative, if you take it as a negative, is the lodge itself is aged. It has aged well from what we witnessed. I recommend staying here if you are in the area!

I had higher expectations before coming here. If you're not in the Jellyheads FB group I'd advise…read moreyou to join as you'll get lots of insight on this Jellystone as well as the other locations. Of course, if you're visiting Yogi and friends, you're coming for the kids (and the water park). They have events you can sign up for, but don't count on them actually running. For example - the first night there was the silent disco. This is where you get headphones and get to rock out to your own music and just dance around. Good for kids and easy on the parents/anyone with sensory issues where it might be very loud. Except it didn't work - the headphones, the music, none of it. The young teens working there looked bored out of their skulls. Did nothing to entertain the kids waiting. After about 10 minutes of futzing around with the equipment, they were like eh "so and so said we didn't have to do the disco". Kind of annoying. On a rainy day, our laser tag got cancelled. Also kind of annoying, but you can't control the rain since this is an outdoor event. Wish they had some kind of indoor space in general for this in the event of rain. The inflatable pillow jumping pads were not inflated any of the times we visited the playground area. On the aforementioned rainy day, we took a stroll to the crafts area and figured, well maybe we can each get the kids something to paint. Except we were told that they don't do that, you have to pay them come back at the specified craft nights. What??? There's two people working here. And there is tons of stuff. But we can't buy something and just paint or assemble any of the crafts now? Make it make sense. Also, don't count on actually meeting Yogi Bear if you pay for the special Yogi Bear breakfast because we did pay for this add on, and neither he nor Boo Boo ever came to the outside pavilion where the event was. The attraction here is really the pool and splash parks which were a lot of fun for the kids. It opens at 10, which is kind of late. If you have kids, they're probably up early and chomping at the bit to come here. There are few other things to do before hand, other than mini golf or the play ground. The mini golf was cute and it's nice you can just play at your leisure and the equipment is always out. Other nice thing was the AC in the cabin worked very well. When we stayed it was mid-upper 90s and very humid. But you might want to wear shoes/sandals because the floor left the bottom of our socks quite dirty when we had them on and not crocs/sandals. The loft area in the cabin was a hit with the kids as well. All in all, our experience here was mixed. Would we come back? Eh. Maybe. The kids had fun and at the end of the day I'm grateful for that. But I'd like to explore other places before returning most likely.

Although I was by myself, I stayed in a double queen bedroom. My hotel room was clean as was the bathroom. It was very cold so I had to turn off the air the entire time that I was staying in the room. They offer complementary breakfast so I was able to enjoy waffles, cheese omelette, scrambled eggs, seasoned potatoes, bacon, fruit, and yogurt over the course of my stay. They also serve fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, and have a small shop area where you can purchase snacks. The hotel is not far from two different grocery stores so if their small shop doesn't have what you need, you could walk or take a short drive to the local store to pick up whatever you may have forgotten for your trip. Because I was staying for work trip, my stay was tax exempt. At check-in, I provided the documentation, but at checkout, it came to my attention that it was never applied. The woman at the checkout counter was very professional about it, searched around and was able to find my documentation and apply the tax exemption before officially checking me out. I enjoyed my stay here, and I would reserve a room here again if I had to come back.

Call in advance to check availability and make a reservation: it's a small place! The communal kitchen is big, and you can use the coffee, tea and oatmeal (anything else you have to bring yourself). The kitchen has an 11pm curfew, so they're trying to keep it quiet here (this is not a party hostel; alcohol, smoking and drugs are banned!). The wifi is good. Enter with a key from the back door and use a code to enter the room. Sone notes about room 3; which is where I take off one star. Theoretically the room sleeps four as long as two are willing to share a full size bed, and as long as one can vault up to a bunk bed (the ladder is broken). So at the moment it's really a three person room. You'd better be very comfortable using a bathroom around those folks, because the room entry is through the bathroom, so anyone going from hallway to room and vice versa passes through the bathroom. Okay. It's the only room set up that way. The shower is great, there's lots of light and fans, but the main reason im taking off a star is because the room clearly wasn't cleaned before check in. The sink had brown stuff on it, which was easy enough to clean, but not what I would expect to see. There were also literal sprigs of weeds and wildflowers on the floor, which I picked up and put it the trash, but when you see mess that's that obvious, it makes you wonder what kinds of less obvious uncleanliness might be there... and good thing they provide ear plugs, because the room next door had a piano (ie someone practicing piano, not just playing music on a speaker), a dog and a toddler!

(in the US, at least) Owner is incredibly kind and humorous. We stayed in two different private rooms and they both felt like home. Only negative is that the parking can be kind of tricky.
