    The view again

It was great vacationing here. The staff was informative and friendly. They had a fire pit that was lit every night from 6pm to about 11pm, which was awesome if you didn't have anything to do at night, but still wanted to enjoy the night before going to bed. It was very serene and quiet, if you're looking for that in a vacation than this is the spot. There is a convenient and restaurant store walking distance from the lodge, which is cool. I will definitely be coming back here again.

View from our balcony at the ridge, late evening.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming, peaceful and quiet lodge. Wonderful view out the back towards the mountain ridge; with a delightful staff and engaging owner. They went above and beyond making us feel welcome and appreciated!

My wife and I took a trip upstate recently just to get away for a few days. We decided to go with minnewaska lodge because it seemed a little nicer than the normal hotels on the highway. Overall the hotel and staff were great. The rooms were nice and the lodge had a warm feeling to it. My only small gripe is I wish it had a couple more amenities, maybe a pool or gym perhaps? However the free cookies and coffee in the lobby were excellent! Breakfast was very good and consisted of hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereals, muffins etc. Lots to choose from, and very good coffee too! We were supposed to stay longer but had a family emergency. A big thank you to Tammy and Rebecca who let us check out early and recuperate most of our money, it meant a lot to us. The surrounding towns are fairly quiet but the preserve and mountains seem like they would be great to adventure out on, as we only got to see them partially, due to the icy paths. Very good hotel :)

Ugly fake climbing holds attached to a beautiful ancient cliff

I can't believe that this place would detract from the beautiful natural surroundings by allowing employees to secure artificial climbing holds to a natural cliff. Seems antithetical to the purpose of visiting a place like this. I would hope that they would show better ethics and valued that this

The lodge is has amazing scenery that you view as you pull into parking lot with mountains just past the rear of lot. The lodge itself offers breakfast and a nice place to meet and chit chat with fellow visitors each morning. The rooms are spacious and clean. Great place for a romantic getaway or just a quiet time vacation. We brought our 3 boys and they had a great time as well. Every night thy light up 2 gas fire pits and even offer s'mores. The state park is about 3 miles away with swimming and numerous trails of different difficulties. There's also an amazing waterfall there. If you need food or dining, you only need to drive 6 miles to the nearest town and they have loads of neat small specialty shops and restaurants. The lodge itself has fast WiFi (but you won't be using it on this getaway). The only negative, if you take it as a negative, is the lodge itself is aged. It has aged well from what we witnessed. I recommend staying here if you are in the area!

We stumbled on the Inn at the Ridge through some Google searching. We only spent two nights, Friday and Saturday, so we were treated to Sal's weekend cooking. Easily among the best food at a B&B that we've ever had. When I booked, I didn't realize that I had booked the one room with a disconnected bathroom. Yes, it's private, but downstairs. Since the Inn wasn't completely full, they offered to relocate us to another open room, we didn't ask, they just suggested it. The house is old, like real old, so expect some quirks like wide creaky floors etc. The beds were quiet though, which was the important thing. Each room is uniquely decorated. The Inn is a nice distance from busy areas but not so far as to be a hardship. It's extremely close to Angry Orchard's Innovation cider mill, a state park with great trails, and even a little college town. I could probably go on, but Yelp's review editor is giving me issues. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Our room was very comfortable with a king-sized bed. The location was perfect - close to Minnewaska state park, as well as several nearby towns and a few good restaurants. They serve breakfast at a communal table, which is nice for getting to talk to the other guests there. We would definitely stay here again.

And of course, the best host was Clair (retriever) who followed us everywhere, toured us around the farm and even came in the morning to wake up my son with kisses. We stayed in Mr. Ed's Annex, which had a nice little kitchen (they supply most of the basics in terms of pots/pans/utensils, so don't feel like you need to lug a bunch of kitchen stuff with you) and an awesome steam shower in the bathroom. The bed was super comfy and the space as a whole was nice and cozy. There was a little backyard area overlooking the horse pen with a grill and hammock, but given that mid-March is peak mud season and rather chilly, we did not put that area to use. The chickens, goat, and dogs greeted us whenever we went outside. The goat took a shine to both of us as evidenced by his insistence upon gently headbutting us when we pet him. Up by the main house there is a hot tub, which we used twice - so relaxing! We definitely would come back again!

I stayed at the cottage, which came with its own patio, and had a kitchen, living space with a large TV, comfortable queen bed, and clean bathroom. I highly recommend it. I initially thought it was too much space for me and the dog, but it turned out to be great. Lots of space for the dog to roam around when it started to rain and it had a beautiful, bucolic environment. I also chose this inn for the breakfast, and Bernetta did not disappoint. She makes everything by hand and you can tell how fresh it is. I was welcomed with two homemade and delicious chocolate chip cookies. She offered two types of coffee, a flavored coffee and a regular one, and breakfast came with a freshly baked good. I stayed for two days. Saturday had a savory breakfast, and Sunday had a sweet one. Both were delicious. To highlight how fresh everything was, Bernetta had chosen fresh apples local to the area for the sweet Sunday breakfast. Bernetta is also an excellent host. From the dinner menu, I ordered the lobster en croute soup, the roasted halibut, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. Alcohol and espresso coffee drinks are not included. Our room for one night for two with the three meals, plus one 8 oz. carafe of wine, one beer, and one espresso with dinner cost a whopping $1,700 with the fees and taxes. We had a pleasant time, but that was exorbitant. My wife wanted to check this place out, no reason to return.
