Went there for a few days on an impulse decision and enjoyed it immensely. The entire facility is designed with you, the guest in mind: clean, comfortable room, pleasant meal setup with nicely done food (vegetarians and vegans, there is a variety from which to choose) and lots of activities to please everyone from 0 to 120. We hiked, canoed, did some onsite activities and enjoyed entertaining offerings each night in the Parlor Lounge. If what you want to do is just relax, you will find your spot on o e of the number of porches or on your room balcony. Do book a spa treatment or two and make your dinner reservations before you arrive, the Granary for alfresco lunch and dinner too. Heartily recommend.

I've been here twice so far. The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. From the moment you arrive, you are treated to free valet service for both your car & luggage. The check-in process is also smooth. There is a ton to do as long as the weather cooperates! My favorite activities including pedal boating & hiking up to the top of the mountain. The vibe is extremely relaxing & peaceful. I can sit in one of those rocking chairs on the porch for hours. Cookies & tea at 4pm are a nice touch! The food is incredible. Each meal is better than the last! The ingredients are super fresh and the chefs know how to combine flavors to create deliciousness. The housekeeping staff is attentive and offers turndown services. I also called for an extra blanket and they were quick about it! Please note, it's a cashless facility since Covid.

I've seen Mohonk Mountain House morph from a laid back lodge with no spa, no air conditioning, and no alcohol served in public areas (due to its conservative Quaker origins) - to the semi-bougie, craft cocktail serving venue it is today. Has the place improved over the years? Well that's all a matter of perspective. Personally I miss the old days, but I'm a bit of a cranky eccentric. This review is based on a midweek stay during the peak of autumn foliage, a lovely time to visit when the weather cooperates. The hotel itself is old and charming with wonky floors and wild patterned carpeting, but well maintained and immaculate. Pricing is all inclusive (no tipping, yay!) with three meals a day and afternoon tea thrown in. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style, taken in a large room with high ceilings alongside hundreds of other guests. It's kind of like a fancy summer camp, with service from the mostly young staff ranging from friendly and responsive to adequate. The food is very good, especially the omelettes at breakfast (which include ingredients like lobster and local cheeses), as well as their addictive home baked pastries. You won't leave Mohonk hungry (or thinner!), that's for sure. The main draw at Mohonk for me are the natural gardens and beautifully groomed hiking trails, which range from easy to steep and strenuous. I've downgraded my hiking choices over the years to match my waning fitness level, but there's truly something for everyone. Numerous activities offered: large indoor pool, guided hikes, axe throwing lessons, archery, meditation, evening lectures and live music in the parlor. Paddle boats, canoes and rowboats are available to explore the beautiful lake at no extra charge. The spa is pricey but a wonderful experience, and includes use of an outdoor mineral whirlpool set amidst trees that I love, as well as sauna and steam room on your day of service. Room decor varies, so check the website carefully before reserving. We usually go for the Victorian style rooms which come with a working fireplace and ornate wood moldings. Sound insulation in the vintage building is sketchy which may impact your rest time (depending on your neighbors) but there's no late night partying, in fact the place is dead quiet at night. I rode the elevators and walked around late one night when I couldn't sleep and saw no one at all, not even at the front desk. The spirits of past owners and residents were the only ones in evidence. Be aware that they routinely offer "kids stay and eat free" promotions during summer months, resulting in hordes of noisy youngsters taking over the place. I check their website carefully and try to book when these promos are Not in effect lol. I'll always have a soft spot for Mohonk, a very special place and a true haven from modern stress.

Mohonk Mountain House is truly a magical place. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but honestly... it's kind of worth selling a kidney for the peace, views, and sheer joy it brings (kidding! ...mostly). It's one of those rare spots where you can actually hear yourself relax while soaking in the beauty of nature. The meals? Sublime. I'm still thinking about them. The activities and staff? Absolutely fantastic. We did archery today, and Dylan, the director, made me feel like a slightly clumsy but very enthusiastic woodland hero. So much fun! And of course, the labyrinth rock scramble--with the iconic Fat Man's Misery and Lemon Squeeze--was an adventure I'll be bragging about until someone makes me stop. Truly a blast. All in all, it's worth every penny of the splurge. Cheers to everyone who treats themselves--you deserve it!

Mohonk is simply amazing. Our big extended family has visited a few times over the years, and every time we leave feeling relaxed and happy--kids included. It's the perfect place to recharge: rocking chairs overlooking the lake, boating, hiking, swimming, horseback riding, tennis, afternoon tea, BBQs... there's so much to do for everyone. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated and the bathrooms aren't exactly luxurious, but the old-world charm is part of the experience, and everything else more than makes up for it. My husband went here as a child, and now our little one enjoys it too. We're skipping this year for the US Open, but hopefully we'll be back next year.

Mohonk is a dreamy, mountain escape only a short drive away from NYC! My mom and I love coming here and this past week was our 4th visit. The scenery is spectacular and we ended up with a renovated room with a lake view... an upgrade we didn't expect! There are gorgeous hiking trails, a boat rental dock, horseback riding, and much more. The meals are included. We love the wide variety of options in the breakfast and lunch buffets and dinner is a 3 course meal. The menu changes nightly and we have had some fantastic meals here. This past weekend we did horseback riding for the first time. You do need to reserve this ahead of time, but we absolutely loved it! I can't wait to do it again next time. We also LOVE the spa here and had a fantastic massage. Their mineral hot tub is also great and only for spa guests. We love bringing books and reading in the rocking chairs on the deck, looking at the lake. It truly is a great spot to unplug and relax!

Views: 4/5 Relaxation: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 1/5 We finally got to experience the spa services at Mohonk Mountain House, a wonderful post wedding gift that was truly relaxing. Loved that they also have a sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and this mineral salt heated pool you can hang out in between your treatments. I tried the Mohonk Muscle Rescue ($260 for 60 min), which sounds intense for overused muscles. But, honestly, it was mostly Swedish-style, super chill and relaxing, but not quite the deep muscle relief I was hoping for. In terms of effectiveness it was a 3/5 for me The Skin Awakening Ritual ($230 for 60 min) was a nice, gentle body exfoliation. The loofahs and warm oil felt good, and my skin felt smoother afterward, but I didn't notice any huge, lasting difference. I'd give it a 3.5/5. The services themselves were nice, and the view is beautiful. But, I gotta say, for what it's worth the value just wasn't really there.

My husband and I needed a weekend getaway but we didn't want to get on plane just for a short weekend, so we researched options within a couple of hours of New York and found Mohonk Mountain House. The pictures looked beautiful and reviews were good, so we decided to give it a shot and we're glad we did. The Mohonk Mountain House is an all-inclusive type resort and it's kind of a throwback to the type of place you'd see in movies like "Dirty Dancing". The rooms are in a big lodge, there's a like, lots of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, tomahawk throwing) and there are a lot of programs available in the resort and the spa. Everything is included, including your meals. The resort is beautiful. If you like old hotels, you'll love this. Lots of stonework and beautiful woodwork everywhere. We had a lakefront room which came with a terrace and rocking chairs. Unfortunately it was a cold weekend and we actually got five inches of snow so we didn't get to use it much, but we did go out a couple of times. After an orientation session with the concierge, we went to our first dinner, which was fine. Service was very nice, but I was kind of surprised that some of the other customers thought that they were dining at the Four Seasons or something and making crazy demands of the wait staff. The dining room is literally a family restaurant and it's included so it was confusing to me why I saw people at every meal getting upset about stuff. The theme the weekend we were there was Magic and Mindbenders so we caught a magic show the first night and it was really good. Maybe a little corny, but fun for a family crowd. The next day we woke up to snow but we had massages scheduled in the spa. Since we were getting treatments we could hang out all day there so we first went to the pool (which is available to all guests staying at the property) and that was very nice. It's in a beautiful room with high ceilings and giant windows. There were a lot of kids in the pool so it wasn't as relaxing as we would have liked so we went to the outdoor mineral hot spa in the spa and that was amazing. It was snowing so it was incredible to be in a warm mineral bath while snow was falling on your head. We then showered and got our massages, which were great. One thing to note is that tipping isn't recommended anywhere in the resort. It says on the website and they tell you when you check in that you don't need to tip because it's built into the price. It's nice they clarify. Later that day, we did a few classes including a Singing Bowl Meditation and the History of a Cocktail. Both were fun. The second night, we had a late dinner (and the meals that night were better than the first night...they have rotating menus) and then went to the featured magic show, which was not as good as the first one we saw. The last day, we had breakfast and went to one last magic show and then checked out. We really like the room we had. It was comfortable and clean and the lake view was spectacular. Since it had snowed so much and we hadn't packed for it, we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor portion of the resort but hopefully we'll go back in warmer weather. Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful and really made you feel welcome. Well, except for Brenda at the spa. She was super unpleasant and our brief interaction with her nearly ruined our day...luckily the meditation class we took shortly after that nasty encounter helped us recover. But seriously, she should not be working in any role that requires direct contact with humans. This experience was nice but it's not cheap. For the two of us for two nights, it was about $2700 plus another $500+for the massages. However, considering that includes food, classes and entertainment, I think it's a decent value. I'm glad we went and I hope to go back.

This feels like one of New York's best kept secrets! For the price of a day pass, which the current going rate is $150, you have access to hike the grounds, an afternoon coffee, a beautiful dinner, a talented band, and a transportation to a different time! Or atleast my boyfriend and I did when we spent our anniversary here in early Novemember. The views are so immaculate we seriously began to picture having our wedding here! Tucked away in the mountains this charming European style mountain house offers a ski resort feel with plenty of fall activities too. I recommend everyone come here to experience a magical, Disney like escape from reality

I had not been here in a few years. This time we came to celebrate a 60th anniversary party with brunch. We did encounter a few issues with our reservation but despite this we were able to make the best out of it and have a wonderful day. The weather and the view is incredible as usual. Stay for the wonderful Harneys tea and cookie service at 4. We didn't do the hike this time but it's worth doing. Incredible photo opportunities.

My wife and I have spent the holidays and the summer months here and it's always a wonderland. The staff is friendly and the the food is above average delicious. There is a minimum stay of two-day but you will want to stay longer. Monhonk is a part of New paltz but you wouldn't realize it because as you go up in the mountains it will seem different but great. New paltz town is also worth a visit.

I've been vacationing and visiting Mohonk with my family since I was little. There are so many trails to explore around the house and on the preserve nearby. There are also so many activities to do at the house: kids club for little ones, lots of nature hikes, evening shows, and campfire singalongs. If you're someone who wants to relax, Mohonk has that too. They have a nice spa and you can get massages and there is a small massage house that looks out over the lake and at SkyTop. The food there is always great. Though I recommend the main dinning room over the granary. Mohonk has many activities and your experience really depends on which ones you choose. I highly recommend the lemon squeeze up to skytop and giants workshop to humpty dumpty. They are must dos for anyone visiting for the first time.

Ask the Community - Mohonk Mountain House

    Drinking at the Mohonk?

There are alcohol options to purchase at the all inclusive meals but there's even a bar you can get a cocktail almost any time. There are even options on the sunset porch.

Where is the best cozy reading spot in hotel on a rainy day?

They have couches and a fireplace right on the main floor.

I'm looking to stay here for a few days for a couples getaway. We have never been. Is it a good place to go in winter (mid-december)?

i was here late November last year = it was great! we had a couple sunny days, the hiking was amazing.

How much does it cost to stay here? They are closed during the quarantine and no rates are available at this time. We have 75 people in our family and we are looking for a spot for our reunion next summer...

Mohonk Mountain House is very pricey, but you can cut that down a bit with the mid-week specials and the periods when kids can come for free. I justify the price by remembering that all the meals and entertainment are included and I don't have to…

What are the prices to stay 1 or 2 days?

It depends on a weekday vs weekend. I would recommend trying a mid week stay and if you love it, save up for a weekend stay for your next visit.

Can anyone recommend this place for early March weather?

I went there around that time and it was beautiful

Are the grounds open to public to walk around and take photos?

Yes, but you have to purchase your access through multiple options. A day hiking pass ($21-$26), ice skating ($17-$26), a spa reservation or a meal reservation. It is private land so it is not open to the public for free.

How is the lodging for two singles in a room, how good is the spa, is it crowded in feb., is it run down? what are the pros and cons…

We stayed in a king with a balcony overlooking lake & fireplace. Great all around on room. Spa was great. Had massage (good, not great) and pedicure (very good). No idea how…

Their waterpark is only open from 11 AM to 7 PM when basically every other waterpark that I've ever been to is open at least 12 hours a day. When the waterpark is closed, there is nothing else available in this place. Food is almost impossible to come by and if you do, you will wait an incredibly long time. The waterpark is small and crowded. Almost all the restaurants are closed until five if they open at all. Our room which was over $400 a night was not what I expected in the bathroom looked like something that you would see in a prison with the drain in the middle of the floor of the bathroom no designated shower or bath area it's just a shower curtain which had molded all over the bottom of it, over a tile floor. Our garbage had someone else else's tissues in it and our shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all empty. This made me wonder what we waited till 5 o'clock for because checkout is at 11 and check-in is at four. That's five hours for their staff to clean the rooms. I think that that is enough time if you were properly staffed which they are far from. It was the worst resort waterpark I've ever seen or been to. The manager, sabrina is elusive. I asked for her when Daniel was at the front desk when we were trying to figure out when our room was going to be ready and he couldn't find her and then the next morning I called down and got Sabrina on the phone, but she put me on hold for forcing me to go downstairs and then wait for her yet again. This place is so poorly managed. The only good thing I can say is that the employees were nice. And I think that that says a lot because they're constantly hearing how horrible this place is and they all know it. This was also the most expensive waterpark we've ever been to. Please save your money. This place is an absolute rip off, and you will be sadly disappointed.

The setting, ambiance, vibes: everything was perfect and incredible. It's the absolute perfect location for a getaway, staycation, special occasion, anniversary, wedding, you name it. It's of course a very unique place for unique people that love to appreciate food, nature, art and the beautiful surroundings in this gorgeous hotel and event space. We dined in their smaller/private/event space where we enjoyed a beautiful 3 course, slow paced, farm to table, meal (and experience). We enjoyed the castelfranco radicchio as our first (which was absolutely delish with apple, candy roasted squash and pepitas). Followed by the ricotta cavatelli (all handmade) with local mushrooms, salsa verde and parmesan. I was super excited about the salsa verde and wish I could've tasted it more. For dessert, I got to mix match and try with my hot date the squash cake with coconut ice cream and chocolate cremeux which was absolutely incredible! Overall, we had such an amazing experience and can't wait to be back for another special occasion or intimate dinner with my hubby. I would absolutely recommend this place if you're looking for an intimate, unplugged, local, getaway. It's a VIBE.

Slightly low water pressure in the shower but not unworkable. Comfortable bed. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary yoga class, which was held in a stunning chapel-like wellness center. It has a magical and special light and vibe. Feels brand new in quality but ancient in spirit. Breakfast at the restaurant was phenomenal. We especially liked the yogurt's consistency and very subtle tartness. Diner at the restaurant was similarly fantastic. Excellent service. The appetizers were huge. Arguably too large. Eg two of us were only able to eat half the cauliflower served to us. Highly recommend the duck; it was great! I am picky about wine and really loved their glass list. The French Chardonnay in particular wowed me. They had free bikes which we didn't have time to use to check out the nearby bike trail. The complimentary brownies were rich and luxurious. Overall I would highly recommend.

This is a review after our stay at the Hanah House, the private cabin at Hanah Mountain Resort. I…read moreand 5 other guests rented the Hanah House for two nights while in town for a wedding. The biggest complaints: The Hanah House was not clean, amenities were broken, and we were treated dismissively by the Hanah manager, Deb. Shortly after checking in, we noticed the heat was not working. We called into the main lobby, and maintenance promptly came and turned on the heat to the bedrooms and left a space heater in the main room until they could fix it the next day. I was very pleased about how quickly maintenance handled it, this is not a complaint about that. But it's just the first of many issues illustrating that the Hanah House was not at all made ready for guests prior to our arrival. We quickly discovered: - There were dirty towels on the floor in the master bathroom (pictured below). They had been there so long that a spider had built a web between them and the bathtub. - There was leftover food baked onto a pan left in the oven (pictured below). I can only assume it was from the same party that left the cobwebbed dirty towels. This made the oven unusable. - There were flies in the house and multiple dead ones on the carpet in each of the bedrooms. - we also had complaints about the fact that the electric fireplace did not work, and that there were no comforters in the room. I was satisfied by the manager's explanation that the fireplace is a fire hazard, and does not work by design, and that the comforters have been removed due to covid protocol. Over the next few nights, we discovered that multiple things were broken: - The first night, the fire alarm in the main room began beeping, indicating it needed its battery changed. To me, this indicates the hotel does not regularly check them. - The second morning, when the 6 of us were running around getting ready for the wedding, we discovered the showerhead in the master bath did not work and only produced a trickle of water. - We also discovered that the hairdryer in the master bath, the only one in the house, did not work. I asked specifically ahead of time if they had hairdryers and irons available anticipating we would need them for the wedding. When we checked out, we let the front desk know about our issues and they told us they'd notify the manager, Deb, and ask her to call us. Deb called me the next day, but when I asked if there was anything she could do about all the problems we experienced, or if it would be possible to get partial compensation since the house wasn't up to par, she refused. She assigned the issues to the fact that the house is a rustic cabin. I understand that the house is not a 5-star mansion, but things were broken, dirty, and the house did not appear to be ready for guests when we checked in. My partner asked her if she could speak to upper management. When I checked in with her two days later, she informed me that upper management held the same position. She also cut me off when I was speaking to say goodbye and hung up on me. I have never asked for compensation or complained before about a hotel. I understand these are usually run by people doing their best to provide for their guests, and mistakes do happen. But the house was dirty, amenities were broken, and the most we got was a "sorry, but it's a cabin."

What an terrible experience!!!…read more I emailed several times and then since I got no response called multiple times. I left messages both with answering machines and with live people. No responses until I finally called at the moment some woman named yaako or something like that answered. She was absolutely nasty AF and completely unhelpful. I was trying to plan an event for 30 to 60 people well over 3 months in advance for a Thursday evening. She made it very clear by her s***** customer service that they are not interested in your business. This is a real shame as the place looks really nice and seems to have a great setting, but if this is the customer service I'm going to get from some quote unquote manager- forget it. There are many far better places with far better customer service within 20 minutes of this place.. Oh, and I just checked my notes, her name was Masako (?sp)... And yes she was part of the problem, but no she was not the entire problem. The entire place seems to be a problem. The people who answer the phone at the front desk seeing friendly and nice, but aren't able to do anything and they insist you have to speak with management and tell you to speak with winners like her. SMH. AVOID!!!!!!!

The rest is card only or you can bill to your room. That is all you need to enjoy Villa Roma. We stayed in the hotel, on the Futura wing. Rooms were far enough back to be peaceful and had a small balcony perfect for the free morning coffee (in the morning at 7:30am across from the elevators, main floor). We had the all inclusive plan which provided a wristband. Included was most activities, as well as breakfast and dinner in the main dining room on the third floor. Food: so good. See the pictures. I was shocked. You know how lunch wasn't included ? Well I wasted a lb of coldcuts I brought with me because dinner is a feast! Portions are epic and the food is delicious. You'll be having your left overs for lunch the next day. Drinks besides water are not included so bring up your room card or credit card if you'd like some wine. Breakfast, it's a buffet. It's pancakes, cinnamon French toast, eggs, potatoes, danish, oatmeal, juices, pastries and an omelet bar. Entertainment- I was lucky enough to be there on one of the nights Keith Doughtery's production of, "The Souprano's: Villa Roma or Bust," was performed in the forum. Soo hilarious and interactive ! I mean, belly laughs! The next day he also led the sip n paint. My daughter is non verbal and I was really worried about meeting her sensory needs on this trip. There is an entire inflatable bounce room yall! She loved it! We played in the kiddie pool area. Then we went to the game room to do the craft (she made a visor) which was very nice. Also the game room has a smaller play area for the toddlers, she was a bit too small for the big slides in the playground (she caught some radical air though!). Everyone I spoke with was a Villa Roma regular, ready to share stories and experiences. One of the highlights was a dance party at night on the mezzanine (personally my favorite area, have an espresso martini and look out on the entire property from the balcony). My parents came with us and did the zip line, archery and lounged by the pool. We just got back and are thinking about Christmas time...
