First off we would have totally passed it by if we hadn't have stopped at Surplus Herby's next door. We are so glad we stopped in. It was quiet when we arrived but we were early for dinner. A few more people came in after us. Service was prompt, friendly, and extreme accommodating. My partner has an intolerance to gluten and they allowed us to sub out the affected items for ones that weren't. The portion was huge and left us both filled. As my partner put it, we've had worse Greek food for more money. Our meal was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Shrimp is so easy to over cook and make chewy but here it was done perfectly with that slight crunch. This will be a meal we think about for some time. We're just sad that we're not local to be able to enjoy Minos more often. Next time we're in Kamloops we'll be back. read more

Omg!! Absolutely amazing hole in the wall! Who would've known that you could get such good Greek food all the way in Kamloops. Portions were generous. Prices were right. Service was delightful and very helpful when it came to helping us make up our minds. We had the mykonos plate and the calamari with lamb Plate. Absolutely superb and cooked to perfection. Calamari was ring and tentacles. The Greek ribs were seasoned to perfectly and the lamb was cooked to taste! Well, I first came here in the mid 1980's. Shortly after it opened. It has had about 3 owners that I know of . During the " hay day " , George was notorious for buying people drinks after dinner. The place was packed all the time. Then, he left - very suddenly . And the place went into a slump. However, we had a dinner party last night ( 12 ) , and I must say it felt like the good old days again....our server was pure delight ! We shared the Platter, $ 56. more than enough for 2. Worst food ever since George left , ate there twice first time was awful gave them a second chance, might be off night. Ordered for pick up , pita was burnt , chicken was over cooked dry , prawns tasted like chemicals. We use to get huge prawns , large pieces of chicken for like 20 dollars each. And yes the price may go up some but really, smaller portions higher price , and poor quality. Tiny prawns , small pieces of chicken and smaller Greek salad , 2 dinners a whopping 75.00 for chicken and prawn souvlaki . Won't be going back anytime soon read more

Wow. I did not expect to enjoy this place as much as I did! I have lived in Kamloops for many years and for some reason I've always passed by this place and assumed that Kamloops doesn't have good Greek food. The service was excellent, our waiter was hilarious and kept our waters filled throughout our meal. Being a younger person wait staff will more often than not disregard you which is never a great feeling, but our server treated us generously and with humour. The portion was huge and very filling, but didn't leave me feeling sick. We ordered the shrimp and calamari. The calamari was some of the best I've had in awhile, the shrimp was cooked very well and tasted very fresh. The potato and rice was cooked to perfection and the salad was nicely dressed. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Minos is my absolute favourite spot to eat in the world. The lamb roast is my automatic choice on the menu. It's slow roasted to perfect, flaking off the bone with each pierce of a fork. There's no need for a knife when a lamb roast is done like this. Each plate is served with a lemon roasted potato, buttery rice and a mound of Greek salad. Try a bottle of the Retsina with dinner, you won't regret it. And make friends with George. So Authentic is right when you talk about MINOS! Greek at its best id say. Now my bf sister is married to a greek man and his mother can cook some damn good greek food. This was second best ive had (cause there isnt anything better then mamas home cooking...) and you for sure get what you pay for. Now my grandfather has been going there for more years then ive been alive so he was greeted like family and we were treated well when we were there. Our server was very patient with the lot of us and very nice. The portion sizes are OUT OF CONTROL..... i literally only ate 1/3 of my plate as did the rest of my family (except grandpa cause he is used to eating at there place and he cant just eat lol) You for sure get what you pay for. I attempted to eat a rack of ribs that was waaaay bigger then i thought it was going to be, literally hanging off my plate. When our food came we were all so suprised cause you dont get portions like this back home. You must get "all the trimmings" its salad, potatoes and rice with our main dish ( most come with) it was just inreal how much food we got. My bf got slow cooked lamb, so succulent, so delish, so goddamn good!! Every bite was filling and i would love to go back any day!! When I asked for Greek food recommendations, everyone I spoke with directed me to Minos. I'm pleased to report that the reports were true. Seriously delicious food, great atmosphere, and attentive service. Solid five stars. On first glance, Minos is super cute. They really nailed the "Greek family establishment" look they were going for. I loved the cloud effect on the ceilings and all of the art covering the walls. The menu here is simple but fully covers everything you'd expect from a traditional Greek restaurant. I ended up going with the spanakopita dinner while the rest of my party enjoyed chicken souvlaki and dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with rice/ground beef). All of the meals come with sides of rice, potatoes, and Greek salad which was more than enough to fill us up (and then some!) As for the service, our server was funny, attentive, and helpful. He was happy to recommend the right wine to pair with our meals and humoured all of my father's terrible puns. What more can you ask for?? The only fault I could find? Not many vegetarian options beyond the spanakopita. Luckily it's one of my favourite dishes but a veggie who doesn't like spinach would be out of luck. read more

I ordered the baby ribs and prawn skewer special- Yes the portions were as stated in other reviews- huge! The base flavour was fairly good but lacking in depth and enough seasoning. The texture of the ribs was actually very good, just really lacking any delicious taste you look for in a rib well done. The prawns were not seasoned AT ALL. Even the potato and rice lacked salt. The coffee was 'meh'- fresh but boring and bland. It was fun to have the typical family owned Greek restaurant decor.. The tacky home made paintings of Greek goddesses and familiar scenic landscapes are so obligatory I don't know if I'd trust a place without them. Service was nice. read more

OMG I don't know what was my favorite... the lamb was cooked perfectly medium rare, the lemon potatoes were the best I've ever had, the tzayaki sauce was perfect and the Greek salad large chunks of fresh veggies covered in feta and just enough dressing to accent. The lamb souvlaki was buttery tender, nicely rare and all the accompanying vegetables and other generous assortments on the platter were perfectly presented and prepared. What incredible lemon potatoes!!! The Greek salad was nicely crisped and dressed with a very tasty, but mildly flavourful vinaigrette - wonderful. We were on an extended road trip and our long drive was rewarded with a delicious meal at Minos. Excellent service. I enjoyed a fine glass of Mavro Daphne, too. We'll be back! read more

To still think in 2018 and experience homophobia in quite a popular and well renowed restaurant in Kamloops, my partner and I were quite shocked. We chose Minos to celebrate News Years Eve in hopes of a lovely evening there. Right from the moment we were holding hands, the male wait staff serving our section showed his disapproval with unaccepting glances. Then to our surprise, the other female wait staff from the other side of the restaurant, explained that she would be serving us. Fine, we didn't mind, however, when I politely asked the male wait staff for a refill of my water, it was as if I had just insulted him. He said he'd be right back, but of course not, the female wait staff came back with no message of water required passed on. He ignored us completely, but was quite jovial with the rest of the patrons, wether they be his or others within the restaurant. The food was amazing as usual as I frequent Minos on a regular basis, either dine in or take out, however, if this is the type of staff that Minos hires, I and my partner will not be frequenting this establishment anymore. read more

Can't go wrong here. This place is great. It's in the higher end of the price range but the food is excellent. If you want a nice night out this is a great place to go. Tom the server is right on top of everything and very good at his job. Ask him a question and he knows the answer from the specials to all the ingredients to the dishes.
