This is one of the cases when I am glad we went with our guts. I am surprised to see only 3.5 stars because our experience was 5 out 5. Nothing fancy but everything was just perfect. No line to wait. Inviting hostess. Perfect table spot. Excellent service. Great colorful menu. Detailed description of what you are ordering. The prices were right. And meal... my ohhh my... The steaks were grilled to perfection. Even high $$$ restaurants do not always deliver that good. I just realized I even forgot to take the pictures but hey , it looked exactly like it was on the menu. In additional to the main course , we shared a fresh and delicious caprese salad and finished our dinner with Uber brownie dessert. The food was cold when the waitress finally got around to bringing it to the table. The service was slow and it wasn't even busy. Hardly anyone was there when we came and sat down. The steak was tough and tasteless. My Appetizer was a lobster dip with nachos. The dip had about 4 tablespoons of dip for $16. I was not happy, it felt that they ran out and said, "well it will do, so throw it in a bowl and hopefully it will fly". Anyways, save your money and give it a pass on your way to Earls which is on the other end of the parking lot. I never have been disappointed at Earls. A nice smile and "Hi my name is...... and how's your day going, what can I get you!" would have been gone along way as a friendly greeting too. As I noted in my previous review of Earls we were scheduled to come to Mr. Mikes Steakhouse (Kamloops) for dinner. I have to say I wasn't totally enamoured of the idea but it was our 39th Anniversary and that's where my honey wanted to go. You don't stay married long if you don't go where your wife wants on your special day. I had been here before, on work related dinners, and it was much as I remembered. It is a restaurant that tries to be something it's not, in my mind. It is not an upscale, trendy, fashion dining establishment like the Kegs, Milestones etc., but it is a restaurant that has held it's place in time as one of our treasured memories, a place we went years ago and enjoyed thoroughly. Unfortunately it didn't seem as the decor had changed much. It tried, but for me it doesn't work. Accept it for what it is and you'll be happier. We had two servers, one the teacher and one the trainee. Both had smiles as big as all get out and were aiming to please. They continued to do a good job of that throughout our stay. We ordered our drinks (beer for me, water for her) and perused the menu. All the staples were there, steaks, ribs, some seafood. Nothing jumped out at me but the ribs sounded the most pleasing. They advertised 1 lb. of delicious ribs, with fries and coleslaw. My wife chose a steak, medium, with baked potato. In the interim I went to the washroom to clean up. That's a place that will always set the tone for me too, particularly in a restaurant. All was in order there, clean and well kept. The soap dispenser was out of soap, which I mentioned to the server later, but otherwise all was good. The soap dispenser was filled soon after......I checked. In short order the food arrived. My 1 lb of ribs didn't look like a pound but I'll take their word for it. Perhaps in my mind I thought 'rack', but on my plate was more like a 'half-rack'. It was still good, very tasty and the meat almost fell off the bone. They were a bit shy on the coleslaw but overall there was plenty of food. My wife liked her steak, it was done perfectly, and her potato was enough for 2 or 3 people. It was huge! All in all a nice meal. Staple fare in a staple locale. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. Nothing to rave about food/drink-wise but nothing to really complain about either. Coles Notes on my visit to Mr. Mikes: 4 for service, 3.5 for food, 3.0 for drinks, 3.0 for decor/venue, 3.5 for price. Overall a 3.5. (I sure wish part stars could be awarded.) read more

I give 5/5 , when nothing is wrong, and everything is right ! We shared the scallops as an Appy , and they were excellent ! Shared the Rib Eye Steak, and it was excellent too ! ( enough for 2 ) . ( but we do not like to over-eat ) . Service was excellent as usual . I really like this place. Has a good atmosphere. Can be a bit on the loud and noisy side- but I am 60 yr. old, so that also does not help ! Had lunch here too, and it was very good - forgot to write up a review. Parking is really good too. I ended up been surprised by the excellent service I received. The food was ok, nothing special. I was disappointed that they don't have prime rib (I had driven here just for that). My steak was overcooked, but the served came twice to my table to offer a remake, what I refuse as I don't like to waste food. She ended up offering a dessert. I was very disappointed. The Old Fashioned that I ordered was watery, ice almost completely gone, with the orange peel and cherry at the bittom of the glass. I was given the excuse that it was "busy" and the bartender was "new". This was on a Saturday night. I sat on the patio at a table that wobbled and had folded paper under one leg as a vain but inept attempt at levelling the object. The service was slow. I had to wait over 15 minutes for my poorly made drink, which would account for the melted ice. I decided to give the "new" bartender a second chance and ordered another Old Fashioned. No improvement. Cherry at the bottom with the orange peel also on the bottom. Never going back. I found the pricing of appetizers outrageous. If it weren't for the conscientiousness of the server, I would have not bothered with a tip. Stay away. This place should go out of business for not training their bartenders and having very poor communication systems. read more

For a late stopover in Kamloops this worked out fine. Food is good to very good and service was excellent. Small 6 oz steaks were enough to satisfy late night supper craving. Weakest dish was the peppercorn steak pasta dish. Steak sandwich and flank steak salad were satisfying. Son's 6 oz rib eye was good too. Shout out to the server who replaced the first order which had butter on the steak and veggies which my son was allergic to with a second non-dairy order. Although we didn't indicate allergies when we ordered, the server immediately had the kitchen redo the meal. Was very nice of him to do that. Found this little gem passing through town. Half-price appetizers and burgers Thursday night can't be beat. Tried an open face steak sandwich that was heaven.
