Our 21-month-old baby was being very friendly with a family and waving at them. She also sat at their table a few times and the parents found her extremely endearing. The waiter then comes up to me at our table and says she's harassing them and it needs to stop. We then ask the family if she's bothering them to which the mom gestured to her three children and said jokingly, "Which one?" They never said anything to the waiter and like us were not impressed. Suffice to say, we will not be going to this restaurant again. Its advertisement of "family friendly" is disingenuous as the waiter doesn't like children. On top of that, the food wasn't even that good to start with, so if you want better food and service, go somewhere else! read more

This is how Hot Spot on 6th treats wildfire evacuees without insurance. They were fantastic! They obviously took the time to find out how the vouchers given to evacuees are to be used. The only restaurant to treat us and other evacuees with dignity, grace, fantastic service and even more fantastic, even overly generous, food. Many evacuees were talking about how great their experience was at Hot Spot on 6th. Evacuees without insurance who have email, online banking and their BC services card receive $53/day via e-transfers into their bank account, to spend anywhere. Only people without one of those items receive the vouchers, my BC services card was lost in the fire. read more

Cold on the patio but the sun is barely out from behind any obstructions and it's been chilly in general. Ordered an eggs Benedict (poached soft - done perfectly) and coffee and the food tasted excellent and was presented nicely. Service has been excellent and the waiter reminded me of all the covid precautions before I sat, so I understand my seat would be outside. Dress warm if weather is chilly in the morning - the food & service seem to be worth it. There's a guest here with a blanket to keep warm, you can certainly bring one. Best breakfast we've had in ages. Everything was simply perfect. Breakfast potatoes best I've ever had and their fresh fruit was crisp. Service was efficient and friendly. They even served us late breakfast because we came just after 2. Not sure why I've never heard of this place before! We just spent the week eating at all the best rated places in Vancouver and this was a beautiful surprise to come back too. Better than anything we had there. read more

When we got to town I was crazy craving pizza, my wife found Hot spot on 6 and insisted we go there regardless of it not having any pizza reviews. Just passing through, chose it based on the yelp rating and the butter chicken on the menu which reminded me I wanted to try it, because I had never heard of it, before coming to British Columbia. Holy cow, outstanding food... honestly when they stewed some side veggies for me, I vote that that could become a regular dish... Fantastic rich flavor, in both dishes. I will absolutely try to reproduce these at home, and if I were ever within striking distance of this town again, I would make a substantial effort to stop in here. Wow. We were both very impressed with the quality of food and friendly service we received. We actually went for Mediterranean food but they had a burger and beer special we couldn't turn down! Giving three mainly for the experience, but the food is amazing! That said, 5 for food, 1.5 for the one host. The other staff were kind and had great hospitality. We have been here twice in the last month and are evacuees of the white rock lake fire so we were staying in Vernon when we found this place and the first time the food was great, We first stumbled upon this place while we were trying to find a breakfast place in Vernon as everywhere was super busy and wait lists were long. The environment is clean and spacious.. the only thing we would have to say that wasn't a good experience with this restaurant, is the experience we had both times with the one server who is running around. We had the feeling like we were bothering her with our presence both time we were here. She would make us wait nearly 20 minutes before acknowledging us and place us in the back, but the first time we asked to sit outside. That said, we waited quite some time to be seated when there was plenty of open and clean tables. But when another couple came she seated them immediately in her section. Which we found odd as She gave them their menus and drinks well before us, and the first time she didn't bother to give us menus, offer us drinks or even tell us who our server would be. Both times, she would just speed walk to our table and point to the table and say "here!" While walking away without saying anything else to us. The second time we actually just walked out of the restaurant as her behaviour towards us was rude, and felt as if we were bothering her for even being there. If it weren't for the kitchen staff, the manager and their hospitality in apologizing for this, we would give them a different rating Other than the service experience from one server/hostess, their food is very good and the other staff are kind and accommodating. I hope things have changed since it is a shame that our experience has been negatively effected by one staffs poor attitude. Went with a party of 8 for Grandparents' anniversary supper, none of us had been before, but we had heard good things. After getting past the bit of leftover paraphernalia from The Royal Knight of the 1980's, we were seated next to the fireplace - quite nice. The menu is fairly large, lots of options both Greek and non, and mostly clear descriptions. Staff was more than accommodating with all kinds of substitutions and requests in our party, and had good suggestions. The baskets of garlic breadsticks were a great touch; served hot and you could really smell the garlic. I ordered the moussaka, which I have never tried before anywhere. I thought I knew what to expect but it was a complete surprise. First spoonful and the smell of cloves was amazing... totally unexpected... and I loved it. The portion was a good size, fortunately, because several at my table wanted a spoonful as well. Sides of rice and Greek salad were excellent, but next time I'd skip the lemon potato, which was just okay. I can imagine that moussaka is a classic Greek comfort food and I would highly recommend it. Everyone was happy with their meals - from turkey club, to donair, and steak sandwich, to the Hercules platter - no complaints that I heard. Overall it seemed that everyone's portions were large, except maybe the donair which had a pretty empty looking plate even with the sides of rice and potato there. They were kind enough to bring out our cake afterwards with extra plates and even a lit sparkler. All in all, a happy anniversary family dinner, and I would love to try Rumours again. read more

Visited for lunch with co-workers. None of us had been before but it is relatively new and close to work. All 4 of us were VERY impressed with the food. The portions were very good and the prices very reasonable. Additionally we all agreed that the french fries that came with the Gyros might be the best fries in town. Breakfast served until 2pm and they have a sign on the road advertising a burger and beer special for $9.95. That's going to have us coming back outside of work hours for sure. read more
