Im pretty picky when it comes to technical and medical services. Part of it comes from my own tech and mechanical skills, and the rest from my background in medicine. The office staff, hygienist and dental assistants are super friendly and helpful. Dr. Tran not only a skilled dentist , he is truly a surgeon of the DENTAL ARTS. I say that because we can all go anywhere to get dental work, but not everyone is a master craftsman with the artistry and technical hand skills to make the outcome of your tooth, bite, comfort, structurally perfect. He is really good at explaining things throughout the course of the visit and procedure, and that gives me confidence of the hows and whys of the work he's doing. Mint Dental has been great. I admit I don't come as regularly as I should be, but every time I do go, they are beyond friendly and professional. They also do everything they can to get you in and out as quickly as possible. I have never found myself waiting around either in the waiting room or in one of the exam rooms. Recently I came in because I had unexpectedly cracked a tooth. They were able to fit me in last minute and get me fitted for a temporary crown right away. The process took some time, but that's understandable. Dr. Tran did a great job of making sure I was calm and pain free during the whole process. I really appreciate it. They used what appeared to be top of the line equipment the whole time so I was quite confident that the crown would come in just right. When I returned a few weeks later to have it put in, the process was super quick, even when it turned out the crown was a bit bigger than it was supposed to be. Once again, Dr. Tran did a wonderful job of making sure I was comfortable and that once the crown was in that it fit properly and wouldn't cause any issues down the road. This was my first major oral procedure and the whole time I felt calm which is very unlike me when it comes to any procedure. I thank Dr. Tran and team for that completely. I don't like getting my teeth cleaned. I drink coffee- all day long. I throw protein ( chocolate flavored) creatin, and other healthy supplements all day long because I love coffee. You can imagine the plaque buildup. Deema, the dental hygienist that has been cleaning my teeth for the past few cleanings has been so careful, and precise with my teeth it's a relief not to be tense and locked up the entire cleaning. I bleed easily and have recession so when I say Deema has her work cut out for her, she really does. I apologized this time because I knew how much plaque I had and Deema said " I Enjoy cleaning clients with more plaque because we see excellent results right away!" She made me feel great instead of embarrassed. 5 stars to Dr. Tran for a great hire! Very friendly front desk as well. read more

I have been a patient of Mint Dental for about 5 years. All my regular cleanings, X-rays, crowns, etc. I'm particularly writing this today, 11/25/24, because over the weekend, one of my crowns fell off. This crown was very old and done by my previous dentist. It being Thanksgiving week, I was concerned I'd have to live with this situation for the holiday week as Dr. Tran's office was technically closed for the week due to the holiday. I left him a message on Saturday morning and he called me back within an hour or so. He said that while he was going to be out of town for the week, he would come in on Monday morning to take a look and see what he could do for me so that I didn't have to be uncomfortable for more than a week. When I arrived at my appointment, I found out that Dr. Tran had basically opened up the office just to see me. Wow!! Talk about great dental care! I went to mint dental for a cleaning. I have been going for a few years now and the care has been consistently excellent. Dr Tran is cheerful and prisms sorry to upsell me on things I don't need, but watches my teeth for signs of any potential problems to catch issues ahead of time and shows me on the X-rays specifically what he means which I appreciate. The dental hygienists are great; really well trained. The receptionist s are also cheerful which is a nice way to be treated these days. Overall, definitely not looking for a change! read more

Who loves going to the dentist? Not me. But ever since my first visit, Beverly and all the other staff have made me feel comfortable and welcome. Dr. Tran is patient and understanding. I rarely write a poor review because I like to focus on the positives, but I have to honestly say that I don't feel that the dental work performed was done well. On three different occasions I had to go back to redo the work. They book appointments tightly so the doctor bounces between patients to see the max number of patients, but I believe they are sacrificing quality and efficiency of work. Multiple times I sat in the chair with my tooth numbed for over an hour before he came back. The office is super clean and the front desk and doc are nice, but I can't vouch for the work. Also, they push for positive feedback on yelp after every service performed, I don't think that right either. I am not going back. I hope this feedback is taken to heart. read more

It took me 2 years to write this review because I wanted to make sure that it is still bothering me and is not an impulsive one. Frist time I saw this dentist was in 2021 when I had 2 crowns done. It took him 2.5 hours to place them because he was engaged with another patient/friend (I have heard them laughing). Eventually, I had to get up and ask how much longer is this going to take. Then he showed up and finished up the job. A year later, I came back for another molar crown, which he botched (the crown was and still is very flat on the bottom and smooth). He would externalize the blame onto me ("you should have said something before I cemented it on.") Eventually, once I gathered more information by consulting with other dentists, and I pressed him and told him that this was his sloppy molding job, he somewhat agreed in a sense that "perhaps, it could have been done better." He would not admit a fault if his life depended on it. Lastly, (this job was done at the same time as the "flat molar") he broke my front tooth (also a crown and tooth was broken on the inside) but again never admitted to anything. Eventually, without direct admitting, he agreed to refund me half of the expense for this particular tooth. His receptionists are also rude. Assistants were nice. I regret not doing a better research when finding a dentist. Now, I have a dentist who is absolutely excellent, not defensive (unlike this one) and is willing to fix this dentist's sloppy job. read more

I always thought that the before and after photos are done by photoshop till it happened to me. I had a lot of infections and pain in my teeth for long time, I had a broken tooth since I was 15 years old. I tried around 5 dentists in the last 7 years before Mint Dental and I'm glad that I did all the work on my teeth with Dr. Tran. I trusted him on a treatment plan for 12 months to do 3 implants, two crowns and the smile. It was a long procedure but it worth it. He was courteous, warm, professional, and sincere about my patient care needs. I really appreciated him and his hygienist, Erica. I am a new patient to Mint Dental and Dr. Tran. I was originally told by my previous dentist that I had a fracture on the #4 upper right tooth and that it had to be extracted and I would need an implant. I am on chemotherapy and the surgeon who I was referred to said I would need to be off my treatment for 3 months or more while the gum heals around the bone. Not a choice for me. I chose to get a second opinion and this is where my journey took a very different path. Did an initial review and had me come back a few hours later to do a temporary fix so I wouldn't be in pain through the weekend, then had me in the following Monday to do all the real work (cavity, crown, etc). I had a crown in front tooth done for almost 9 years and still looks great, color didn't change, not hurt or anything, so pleased with it, and no one can't tell from the real vs. crown. Friendly and thorough. Had a bad experience at my old dentist - I had had a filling done and was experiencing tooth pain for almost a month afterward, I felt like they rushed me in and out and didn't take the time to adjust my bite properly. So I decided to try this place. Dr Tran took a look and was able to fix the issue. My bite was way off, so he said he could adjust it. He was meticulous yet gentle. Afterward my tooth pain felt much better (took a few days for the pain to go away completely.) I'm usually very anxious at the dentist office, but the staff and Dr. Tran did a great job to make sure I was comfortable during the adjustment. They had a flat screen tv on the wall and put on Netflix for me, which helped distract me from the drill. Overall I felt much more relaxed and stress free than usual. The office is very clean, well decorated, and the staff was friendly and overall incredible. Very happy with my experience there. I really like the people at Mint Dental. All of the staff are very friendly, the office is very patient focused, and Dr. Johnny Tran is a very good dentist. My wife and I just moved here, saw the good reviews on Yelp, and were not disappointed. In the initial evaluation - Dr. Tran is VERY thorough. And I mean "VERY THOROUGH". For your first visit, I think he usually cleans your teeth himself, just so he can really get a good view of your mouth, teeth, and gums. This, of course, in addition to the usual X-Rays you get anywhere. But he also has this high tech micro-camera I've never seen before - and large TV Screens where you can watch Netflix during your cleaning, or he can show you pictures and high resolution details of your X-Rays that are concerning. He takes a lot of time to review your prior records, understand your history, and learn your preferences. I've since been back for a second cleaning and a filling. The front desk staff have been amazingly friendly both times as well as every time I have called. And I really like my hygienist. She is thorough, very friendly, does a great job, and takes her time to answer any questions you have. During my initial evaluation - Dr. Tran even spotted a tiny cavity underneath a sealant I have that I think my prior NYC Dentist missed. It was not visible through the sealant, and barely visible on the X-Ray. He offered several options: 1) wait, watch, and see if it grows or 2) explore and remove. I asked for his recommendation - and he said his gut was that it was indeed a cavity - so option 1. We did that - and he was 100% right. I wanted to see for myself - so after drilling, he used the high tech camera to actually take picture and show me on the big screen what it looked like and I'm glad it's now removed and filled. I really like Mint Dental. If you want a good Dentist, a very friendly and competent staff, and fair prices - I think they are probably as good as you'll find. My only recommendation is to let them know whatever your preferences are - because they are great listeners, want you to be happy, to feel comfortable, to understand what is going on with your teeth and how best to take care of them. So if you tell them what you want ( i.e. "I like a really deep cleaning" or "I have very sensitive teeth and like a gentle, slow cleaning" like my wife) - they basically do everything to accommodate. 5 Stars Mint Dental ! read more

I'm trying to leave any emotion out of this. I tried Mint from their reduced fee ad. I was looking for a new dentist since mine retired. They sounded friendly on the phone, so I made an appointment. I went for a teeth cleaning and check up. The teeth cleaning was the shortest I ever had in my life. Almost from the moment I stepped in the place I kept hearing from Dr. Tran how they needed cover overhead. The cleaning started with Cheryl, who basically only polished. Dr. Tran did the scaling. About 4 minutes after starting the scaling, he complained he was spending too much time on me! More about covering the overhead. Mint makes me feel like only my money counts. 10 Stars! If I'm able to give more stars, I would! I loved the modern office, but more importantly, I love my new dentist! Dr. Johnny Tran is such a down-to-earth, and personable dentist, I know that my kids will do so great with him (they are next!) and that my friends and family will all love him too. This is an amazing new office tucked in a little center in Laguna Niguel but so close to the freeway and toll road that it only took me 10 min to get there from Irvine area. I am so impressed with the technology in the office from the sign-in with the iPad (all electronic paperwork-I love this) to the flat screen tvs up on the ceiling and walls. Perfect way to keep my kids entertained with Netflix shows when they go soon! Totally beautiful decor - I wish that my house looked like this! Dr. Tran personally gave me a thorough cleaning of my teeth and discussed in detail some minor things that I may need in the future. I never felt rushed nor did I feel that he talked me into doing any unnecessary work on my teeth. I have found a very honest and confident dentist!
