Embarrassed to say that I needed (yet another) root canal. I came back to mint dental and saw a specialist for treatment. I really psyched myself out for days before my appointment and especially in the minutes leading up to it. Today, I had an incredibly positive experience with the specialist. He not only listened attentively to my concerns about anxiety but also took the time to reassure me that everything would be okay. His comforting words and gentle approach made a huge difference in calming my nerves and helping me settle down before we began. Fast forward- I got through the entire procedure pain free and without the use of anxiety medication which is a HUGE win for me. Thanks to his understanding and care (along with the entire mint dental staff) I can confidently say I've FINALLY overcome my fear of the dentist completely. All in all, this is a great dental office. Cheryl in the front is professional and up front about pricing, and both Dr. Jay and Dr. Mike are highly knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. I went in to have my central incisors bonded due to chipping, and was given a thorough review of the options and risks. I was also able to come in same day, which was very convenient for me and probably not convenient for them, but they made it work. This is my very first visit since 2006 (?) and a whole lot has improved since then. All the staff are very nice and friendly, and of course Edith, Dr. Jay and Dr. Michael, they treat you like family! When we arrived, we were seen right away and was amazed with the new modern and computerized equipments. I started with cleaning, Dr. was very gentle and service was fast. Every step was explained before hand and I didn't feel any fear or pain at all. They have been my family dentist ever since I got out of the military since 1988 and I never had a slight problem with them. I always leave with a confident smile. I highly recommend this place for your dental care. Don't forget to brush and floss before you go, lol. By the way, they're good with pediatrics too! Stay away. They're clearly trying to make as much money as they can at all times, which is great from a business standpoint but not for patient care. I went to Mint to give a local place a try after my old dentist retired. I was told I needed a crown for an old root canal - interesting coincidence after years of my dentist monitoring it and saying it was fine, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed. However, on the day of the procedure, AFTER I got a shot to numb my gums, I was pressured into getting TWO MORE crowns in the front so that the color would match down the line. I had told them I get nervous about dental procedures and I feel like they used that, saying if I didn't get crowns in those teeth I would eventually need more procedures to redo fillings anyway. What Dr. Ignacio did not do is describe the procedure of getting a crown as well as the risks of discomfort afterwards. For over a year now, I have had a bite that is uncomfortable and hard to get used to. One of the crowns was a bad match and I feel pressure constantly. This was from a wholly unnecessary procedure. I take responsibility for not doing enough research and getting a second opinion, but I feel like Dr. Ignacio abused my trust and was just looking to make as much money on me as possible. Ironically, the reason I went in in the first place was gum pain. They did an exam and gave me a prescription mouthwash. When I finally went to a new dentist (to fix the bad crown) he exposed a cavity in my molar that was the source of the gum pain. Dr. Ignacio completely missed this, instead focusing on my expensive crowns. Finally, when putting the crowns in, Dr. Ignacio did not give me anything for the pain. I told him how sensitive my teeth were and it was brutal. I had to stop and ask for a shot, and when I repeated how sensitive my teeth were he acted surprised. A very uncomfortable experience overall. read more

This clinic does an impressive job taking excellent care of me and my family's dental needs. First, Dr (s) Jay and Mike are very knowledgeable, their hands are super "feather light", they give quality dental works and they are both very friendly. Second, the staff are just as friendly and accommodating. Third, the clinic is clean and it smells good and last, there is enough parking space for patients and street parking is also available. I came here a few years ago and they re-did two of my crowns. I give two stars because one crown has an irritating gap between the crown and my gums. Also, the crown still hurts from time to time. My sister had the same procedure and she had the same thing happen to her at this dentist. They told me at my last appointment I need to get all four of my wisdom teeth taken out. Absolutely the best dentists I've ever worked with in my entire life. I had a lot of anxiety after seeing a dentist in Toluca Lake who a.) didn't seal a crown properly on a root canal (as I discovered thanks to Mint Dental) and b.) injected numbing agent into my sinus cavity, which was deeply unpleasant. I'm so glad I didn't go back there, but instead found Mint Dental. If you are afraid of the dentist, just know that they will kindly help every step of the way. Check out their website for some good anxiety-related tips. Also, I appreciated the photography that showed me the progress as we went along. I ended up having three cavities filled (including fixing that root canal), and two of them required a full or partial crown. With new insurance, I needed to get a new dentist and found Mint Dental on Yelp considering its proximity to my house. Firstly, their hours and days of availability are more liberal and convenient than most other dentists I looked at, especially for people who have long hours. Secondly, I was told that they take most PPO dental insurance plans, so it seems accommodating. Booking my appointment was very easy and they were quite flexible, especially when I requested to change it quite a few times (I'm sorry!!). The nice thing about this place is that there are two dentists (who are also brothers), so I was able to book an appointment for my boyfriend and myself at the same time. As a new patient, be sure to allot some time to finish your initial paperwork. I was about 5 minutes into filling out my paperwork when I was called, so I liked that there was minimal wait time. Immediately after I finished my paperwork, they got started with my cleaning. Cleaning usually hurts, but they were very aware and cognizant to ask if I had any sensitive spots prior to cleaning. Additionally, I liked that they went through my x-rays with me and explained very thoroughly the complications I had and what work was needed to prevent it from getting worse. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experience here and look forward to coming back in the future! read more

Dr.McNeil is the best dentist I've ever had. He's incredibly skilled, accurate, sparing, and quick too! I cannot recommend him more highly. His office takes state insurance, and they always do a fantastic job. The front desk is perpetually cold vibes. But the rest of their staff really couldn't be better, esspecially the assistants who are very efficient, very personable, and very caring. But Mint Dental has been a delight; they have the latest diagnostic tech, an easy scheduling system and an incredibly nice staff. I had nothing but lovely things to say about Mint Dental until my recent billing issue. I have referred numerous friends to Mint and was always treated kindly and felt the services were efficient. That said, I was needing a root canal and ended up going to an endontist for the procedure, and another dentist for the crown that needed to follow. When the other dentist submitted his bill to the insurance company, they denied the claim, saying they had already paid for a crown on the tooth. Turns out Mint Dental billed, and was paid, for the crown they didn't do. I'm now in a position where the other dentist is chasing me for payment, and Mint has taken their time in submitting the correction to the insurance company. I first called them to sort this out on December 18 and the paperwork was not submitted until January 2. It is now January 18 and the issue hasn't been resolved. The office manager has not reached out to me once - I've followed up with the (very kind) receptionist 4 times now to see where everything stands. When will I get paid? I'll let you all know. Mint Dental, I hope you read this and can resolve this issue so we can both move on. read more

This place is a blessing hidden in Eagle Rock. Having a dentist open on a sunday is a miracle! I am so grateful and thankful they were able to see me immediately, help me with my tooth pain and save my teeth. I knew I had to work on some filling on my molars, but today I woke up in a lot of pain. I didn't know what to do and didn't want to wait one more day, because I knew the more I waited, the worst it could get. I found Mint Dental on yelp so I just walked in. Everyone was so nice and empathetic to my situation. They were able to see me right away, even though I didn't have an appointmen, am a new patient and they were busy. Art was so kind to me, sending me positive vibes. Doctor Jay was super focused and talented who was able to save not only one, but two teeth that had decay on it. I bet that other doctors would say that I needed two root canals, but the doctor cleaned up all of the decay and restored the tooth with two partial crowns, which I believe to be the best treatment. I just got home from this "adventure " and I was so scared that once the anesthesia would wear off, I would be in crazy amount of pain. Facts are that I am just laying on my sofa, the anesthesia is fading away and I feel absolutely nothing. No pain. Just a sense of gratitude for having find this lovely, talented team of doctors/ assistants/ people that took their time this morning to help me and save two of my teeth. Luckily mint dental is a small, clean and well organized medical office. I felt comfortable and well taken care of. Both doctors and staff are nice, professional, they all know what they are doing and they all do their job well. My appointment was quick which I was very happy with. Found this place on a Sunday because the wife needed some work done, stat! So Mary Tess (front desk) squeezed us in last minute and we're so thankful she did. The front office staff is absolutely wonderful, btw. Super friendly and always smiling...showing off their pearly whites. Wife saw Dr. Ignacio, aka Dr. J, and he was fantastic. Precision work, and he was very caring. That's another thing we look for in dentist, empathy. He made sure she felt comfortable THROUGHOUT the entire procedure. She had a complicated procedure but he did exceedingly great work. The entire office, treatment rooms, and even bathroom, are pristine. That's a huge deal for a germaphobe like me. Personally I think $1,430 for one crown is too expensive for a small dental office in Eagle Rock. * Front office staff is disorganized and inefficient. If you don't mind spending a lot of money and are ok with people that cannot do accurate appointments or billings than this may be a good place for you. I thought getting a toothache was the worst thing ever...then I learned that getting a toothache while you are visiting your family and friends for the holidays is even worse! Shortly after arriving home for the holidays, I began experiencing tooth pain in my lower jaw and did a walk-in at Mint Dental. I walked in primarily based on the fact that the office was in a new medical plaza and figured that the office would have nicer equipment. I was definitely right, the family owned practice is laid out really nicely and they are technologically savvy as well. The sweet receptionist at the front was able to schedule me in to see Dr. Michael Ignacio. After my exam, Dr. Mike informed me that I would unfortunately need a root canal. Seeing that I was apprehensive about the situation, Dr. Mike and his older brother, Dr. Jay Ignacio, took the time to explain to me what the procedure would entail, what the possible outcomes would be, and what my options are. They really put me at ease and made me feel like a family member. This is completely different from any other dental experience that I have had! It's really nice to see the paternalistic approach to dentistry starting to go out the door. Dr. Mike performed the procedure delicately and quickly. I felt no pain whatsoever during the procedure and have felt no post-operative pain. Now if only I could find a dentist like this back in Chicago...or if only these two would move to Chicago and set-up shop hahahaha. read more

Didn't enjoy paying out of pocket on a Sunday to visit a dentist on such short notice but alas it occurred and now there i was. My tooth broke whilst enjoying a nice meal but bit too hard on the steel fork and that got me in the comfortable yet terrifying leather chair. Hours later, I left the office feeling better. It's feels strange reviewing dentists but in this case I must because I absolutely LOVE this place! I was a bit embarrass to go because it had been years since I've seen a dentist. My last few experiences were not so great & it's hard to find a good dentist. Most people would recommend a good place to eat before they recommend a good dentist. I was super nervous when I arrived but the friendly staff put me at ease. As I was filling out my paper work I noticed that I wasn't as scared as I normally am when visiting the dentist. The place was very welcoming. There was today's music on, you couldn't hear the sounds of patients being worked on (which always scares me) & best of all... it didn't have that dentist smell! The interior was so cute, very modern. I love the color selection! No white walls & fish aquarium here. Thank goodness! (I will post pictures next time) The equipments were so high tech. They have the latest technology. I felt like a nerd when I caught myself thinking this is neat! I don't remember seeing any of these computers at my last dentist. Onto the dentists! The 2 dentists there are related. They look young but don't let that fool you, they know what they're doing. I had Dr Jay & he was professional but but not uptight. He made me feel comfortable. He talked me through each step so I knew what was coming. He also made sure that I was comfortable throughout the cleaning. After wards he went over the results & how to maintain my gums & teeth. My husband was seen by Dr Michael. He said that the Dr was very gentle & took care in his work. That's a lot coming from my husband! Translations.... my husband is one happy camper! The decor and design is modern, it smells good... and reminds me of a spa as opposed to a sterile dental office. * waiting area: Clean, comfortable seats, a variety of the latest magazines available on the wall. * front desk/office staff/support staff: very friendly, helpful, clear and quick to answer questions or concerns. * wait time: They do a good job at getting you in and seated pretty quickly. Usually the wait in the front is no more than 5 minutes. There have been times when I'm called in the moment I get to my seat in the waiting area. Once you're seated inside, Dr. Jay or Dr. Mike come and speak to you within 5-10 minutes. * Dr. Jay and Dr. Mike: I agree with the other reviews, the docs are awesome and it doesn't really matter who comes to see you. Honestly, I can't really tell most of the time who is who. They have great bedside manner, very knowledgeable, and the service is comfortable (as comfortable dental work can be) and thorough. * They seem to have the latest technology. * If you like poke or macaron ice cream sandwiches, there's a restaurant a couple of doors down. (I know this has nothing to do with dentistry, but might be an important detail to include for someone out there!) Cons: * There's not a lot of parking inside the plaza and the spaces are tight. Let me start off by saying that I'm the one who all my life have had a serious fear of the dentist, I've avoided going at all cost, but this past Sunday my whole life change. I was having the biggest tooth ache of my life and and I started searching for open dental offices in LA and Mint Dental was the first one that popped up. Even though I live in Santa Monica which is a ride away from Pasadena. I gave them a call and immediately I appreciated the welcoming hospitality over the phone. The office is SUPER clean, modern and smells so nice. I stormed in with so much pain and no dental insurance and thank god for the wonderful receptionist, she explained everything step by step and even gave me a discount for not having insurance. BEST BEST BEST part about Mint Dental is...Dr.Michael Ignacio! WOW such a hot dentist, took away all my fears instantly. Besides he's good looks, Dr.Ignacio is awesome, always asked if I felt any pain, and today took my fear of the dentist forever.
