When we arrived we were provided snacks and beverages. Sheila also permits you to view unoccupied rooms which was so much fun, exploring and seeing how other rooms were decorated. Each room has a different theme. A beautiful breakfast is served in the morning. Thanks Shiela for a wonderful time, your home is beautiful!!

Overall would stay here again and recommend staying here to others. Some details from our stay on…read morethe first floor room 1. Highlight was the charm and beauty of the property, quiet and safe nature, and convenient location - overall good value. What can elevate the experience more is below some notes: *Theres no breakfast, which we knew, but there can be perhaps some small pastries? *Outlets were limited....solo travelers probably not an issue; bring extension chords if having multiple outlets is going to be important *Hooks / Hangers were non existent; if you need to hang clothes, make sure to bring clothes you won't need to to iron Water filter inoperative in hallway during our whole stay; a bummer in case you want hot water, tea or coffee. *Lamps in room were nonexistent; it's either using the bathroom light or room light. No in between *Nice bathroom was spacious and a mix of character and modern. Shower pressure was nice and hot. No plungers found anywhere.....we didn't need it but another guests staying stairs was roaming around the hotel to find one for their room and eventually found on in the dining room bathroom. *No staff present - Unless we missed them, we didn't not see any staff present; it's clear someone was cleaning some of the common areas but no one cleaned our room during our stay and again the small details mentioned earlier (broken coffee/hot water machine) would have really elevated our stay. *Overall - Nice mix of classic features + modern touches in the property and room. Beautiful grounds and house with the garden, plants and flowers. You can tell the grounds were kept impeccably. Indoors was also kept immaculate with the exception of the small details mentioned earlier. We utilized the beautiful dining room on our last evening. *Quiet, safe area even for your car despite the transients and homeless in the area. We never felt in danger for ourselves or vehicle. No non-guests were ever seen loitering on the property grounds. *Parking - nice perk in the back of the house as parking is pretty strict in nearby business lots. We also rarely saw indication of other guests other than the cars parked outdoor and one guests we saw in person in the common area. *Great location - easy to find, walkable to stores and restaurants, short drive to grocery.

Rented a house at 100 CR 904 on Smith Lake for a family weekend and had a nice time until the last…read morenight. Our dog began barking in the living room and when we checked, there was a snakeskin on the coffee bar, the top shelf of coffee bar and on the floor. We sent Smith Lake Rental a message and told them we were leaving AFTER trying to locate the snake. We also sent a message through AirBnB as instructed in the listing. We received no response. None of my family felt safe in the property and we hurriedly packed and left. My son drove all the way back to Savannah, GA arriving at 3 am. When we finally spoke to someone who identified himself as "Benjamin", he not only implied that we were lying, but that it was decoration and we shouldn't have been bothered. He then apologized that it "bothered" us. We made coffee several times per day and it wasn't there, then it just appeared; but according to Benjamin and the home owner, it was part of their "decor" and they didn't feel that we should be in anyway disturbed by it although neither of them could tell us where their lovely snakeskin "decor" was located before it suddenly appeared on the coffee bar. Further, because according to them it was "just a rat snake skin", we were acting ridiculous. The final straw was when "Benjamin" told my husband "I am ASSUMING you're a grown man so you should understand this situation". Benjamin hung up on my husband TWICE after insulting him and our family (called all of us ridiculous and overdramatic for leaving early). I'm unsure how Smith Lake Rentals stays in business if their agents treat the guests in this manner. Thank you Benjamin and homeowner of 100 CR 904 in Crane Hill, AL for your insulting statements and disingenuous "apology".

I wish I could give the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport five…read morestars. That's negative five stars. Where to begin? I was checking in. First, the desk clerk can't find my reservation. She says it's because I made the reservation through a 3rd party. I show her the confirmation of the room that I reserved on the IHG app. Ok. She agrees that I have a reservation. But, now she says that I didn't book parking. No, I booked the "stay and park 4 nights" rate. Once again, I show her my reservation. No, she insists it doesn't include parking. I pull up the specific details of my reservation that includes the parking. She still doesn't agree but acquiesced because I'm "platinum elite". Do I want to prepay $10 for breakfast? I'm "platinum elite" so I get breakfast for only $10 a person. A bargain she assures me. Our flight's at 8:30 so I pass. We finally get to our room - it's what you'd expect an old Holiday Inn to look like. A little rundown. Dark. A little dank. A smell that can only be a buildup from years of deodorizer. But we're 5 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes to the amphitheater. Location location location. Oh, but it's in quite the location. The view out of my window says a whole lot. I'm not walking around here in the dark, that's for sure. Stay on the interstate, even if it's the long way around. But it gets even worse. I was given a little gift bag thanking me for being " platinum elite". I open the bag and pull out two bottles of water. That's nice. Oooo, I see candy! Two mints, one smashed. But there's even more! There's a bug in the bottom of the bag. I'm not very confident in my entomology skills but it sure looked like a large tic and since it was too hard for my husband to squash, I think my identification of "tic" is quite reasonable. I'm about over it. We're only spending one night. I can handle it for one night. I walk into the bathroom to get ready for our evening out. I take one look at the tub and call my husband. It was disgusting. Dripping. Filthy. There is absolutely no way in hell I'm taking a shower here. We leave for the concert naively taking the side roads. Even during daylight, it was questionable. More than quite. It was flat out sketch. (We came back the highway). Got back late. The room was freezing. Hubs turned up the temperature. 20 minutes of shivering later, I turn it up a little more. This went on until we finally fell asleep, me rolled into a little icy ball. Speaking of the bed, the sheets were old and very pilled. They were so worn that they were uncomfortable. Morning came early. We checked out and caught the shuttle to the airport. The shuttle was great - it was quick, the driver helpful. Our return ride from the airport was equally positive. The shuttle turned out to have been the only bright light of the stay. The hotel will begin a renovation this fall. They are going to concentrate on common spaces first. I can guarantee you, even if this becomes a 5 star hotel, I won't be staying here. (And BTW, IHG "platinum elite" sounds good but it's basically useless - just a way to stroke an ego.)
