Service is generally warm and welcoming, which makes a difference, particularly in an older property where a few things may not feel as updated as a newer hotel. Parking is valet only through the hotel, so that is something to factor into your stay as well. Great downtown location, historic charm, good hospitality, and a rooftop worth checking out. We are loyal Hilton Diamond members and have stayed at multiple Hilton properties around the world. This was one of the worst properties we have ever stayed at. We stayed here in February and from the time we attempted to check in, it was disappointing. We were upgraded due to our Diamond status and upon checking into our room it was absolutely disgusting. The bedsheets appeared dingy and the bathroom was gross. There was hair on the ground and a vomit stain on the tile. So vile! We called downstairs right away and were moved to another room that was not much better. However, we were there for a family function and has other guests arriving that we has suggested the hotel to. We did notify the manager on duty and he told us he would escalate our concerns. The next day, the hotel manager, Tonya was on sight and sat down and spoke to us regarding the issues. She agreed that our experience was 100% unacceptable and promised to compensate our Hilton Honors points for our entire stay. She assured us that she would make this happen. Also, despite our complaints and meeting with her, our room was never even serviced by house keeping our entire stay. Now over 1 month later after no follow-up call or email, we contacted her and at first she acted as if she has no idea what we were talking about. Then she stated she escalated the issue to corporate but was unauthorized to issue more than 20,000 points, which covers absolutely nothing. And stated there was not really anything for her to do! She totally and outright lied to us, after she had assured us in person and in an email that our entire points would be compensated. She even had the audacity to even yell at us on the phone. This is not the type of experience I expect as a loyal Hilton Diamond Member. In conclusion avoid this disgusting and poor quality Hilton property at all costs.

Our queen suite had a high definition television in the living room and the bedroom. Again, although the decor was modern, the furniture was very comfortable. The sofa was plush and the kind you can plop on to watch bad t.v. Coming back to the hotel after sight-seeing was like coming home. It felt like my apartment-- that I don't have to clean. And the bed! Best sleep I have had in weeks. The linen must be at least 700 thread count. And although the hotel is close to various businesses and Downtown, it was still quiet. This is a lovely, serene hotel in the middle of a lively town center. It is located on the south end of Downtown Birmingham and 5-10 minutes from various museums and sightseeing spots. It was clear to me that as soon as the valet came to get my bags from the car that it would be a good stay. The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming, which is always appreciated. Further, they have the most posh elevators that I have ever used. Wood paneling and mirrors pick up the multiple colored light bulbs making you feel like you are in a disco or NYC hotel. There is even a bar in the lobby where we spent and evening over $5 cocktails. Can't be that! The room was excellent. We had 5 windows in our King sized suite so that, if you wanted to, you could see all of Birmingham and UAB's campus.We even had a Keurig for in-room teas and coffee. Everything was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and the complimentary lotion was a definite take-home. The two qualms I had with Hotel Highland are that 1) We had to request a duvet because of the effort to reduce their carbon footprint and 2) The complimentary breakfast could be improved by better quality ingredients. So overall I think I will be staying here again when and if I return to Birmingham.

This was the most unsanitary, disgusting place we've ever laid eyes on in real life. I wish I knew how to contact Gordon Ramsey from hotel nightmares cause he'd get a kick out of this place. Key card gives you access, via elevator, to the 7th floor where all the rooms are located. Door open to what feels like an apartment building. No reception desk, find your room by name and not number. Key card swiped near a number keypad on the wall opens the door. Room has 2 main areas and a bathroom, all spacious and clean. TVs allow you to login to your preferred streaming service. Room was quiet despite downtown location. Most of the suites looked the same to us with views and square footage the main differences. Seems that the thermostat was throttled overnight, which is a criteria we use when evaluating hotels. No coffee machine in the room. Shower temperature control is a bit "too vintage" and water was basically cold or boiling. All in all a worthwhile experience but we'd try other boutique spots in Birmingham before returning.

And we think this one is going to charm you! Its southern flare meets modern opulence but has an outdoorsy twist. Epic waterfall views from the balcony, gorgeous decor, spacious bedrooms, lavish kitchen and baths, and it is all within steps of historic downtown Helena! The property is two-story new build has all the amenities from large outdoor yard filled with game and a putting green. A spa hot tub for unwinding. Tables and swings for lounging with views of the creek. A large Firepit and outdoor entertaining space. All with views of the creek! As for our unit, I entered the front door, and my jaw dropped. I followed down a long hall to find a stunning, opulent kitchen with a peninsula with seating for four, large farmhouse sink, and gorgeous grey cabinetry. It opens into the living space with a large couch and two lavish chairs. That opens to the second-floor patio that overlooks the large yard below and a view of Buck Creek and its waterfall. We sat out with champagne for hours chatting and taking in the view. Up the stairs back inside is the cutest children's loft with first mural, bunkbeds, and play area. The two bedrooms are off the main hallway. A charming second bedroom off the primary is spacious and clean. It has a bathroom adjacent with stunning black floor tiling. As for the primary, it is in a league of its own. Large king bed flanked by pendant lighting and a can't miss accent wall with a ton of textures, wood, and color. To the left is the main bathroom with two sink vanity and a walk-in shower. The town is literal steps from our unit; downtown Helena is quintessential southern charm. Quaint downtown dotted with local restaurants and a brewery, shopping, and more! We really liked the Brewery in the heart of old town, downtown Helena, Oversoul Brewing. It has a great view and walking to shops and restaurants. The reason for the 4 star rating is the loud train that passes by regularly day and night and I would not consider this a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is offered at an additional cost and they deliver it to your room beforehand for you to cook after you arrive.
