The office does not follow their hours of availability - I came twice (during their hours of operation) to pick up my glasses only to find them closed both times. I used to come here when I was younger & always had a pleasant experience. Coming here as an adult though I had a horrible experience. One of the front desk ladies is really rude. My paper work was not updated. I had to tell them to update my phone number to make sure I was called when my glasses were ready. When I called them to check if my glasses were ready the person I spoke with on the phone was really rude. I never got a call to pick up my glasses so when I called again they told me they've been ready for three weeks & they had called me. I never got a call from them so if I hadn't called they wouldn't have called me again. I will never go back to this awful place. read more

I come all the way from San Dimas to Mintz and i don't remember it being this way this place is SHADY for some reason after i went a couple days later someone attempted to make a purchase with my card and after looking into it i wasn't the only one who went to Mintz and something like this happened one person put in a complaint for more then 500+ dollars being taken from there card!!!! i was afraid this would happen to me so i had to cancel my bank card and get a new one just BEWARE coming here this place is a scam I'm pretty sure there's some fraud or illegal activity going on I'm not blaming the doctor but i would look closer into the employees working there or employees being hired read more

They accept most insurance. Mask are required. The staff is incredibly nice. The doctor does talk a lot so be prepared for that. He explains everything. I happen to stop in schedule an appointment because there's so close to my house. I was pleased with my experience and would recommend this office because I think this doctor really cares. I have been a patient of Dr. Li's for years and would never want to see another optometrist. She is very friendly, quick, and thorough with her exams. My prescription has always been spot on with her unlike in the past. She even helped me pick out the best and most comfortable frames I've ever worn in my life. The office staff at Mintz is also very knowledgeable and welcoming. After sitting on my glasses by accident and they got it fixed for me right away at no charge. The worst experience of my life. Dr, Ramos was very dismissive of me and my questions. When I asked him a direct question regarding my vision is answer was " you don't need to know that". His personal cleanliness was lacking. The office itself could have used a real cleaning. The optician didn't understand my insurance and saving program. I had to explain it to her. I choose to get my Rx and purchase my eyewear elsewhere.When I presented my Rx to another optician and had glasses made they Rx from Dr. Ramos was incorrect. I had to have another exam which cost me more money and am waiting for my glasses. I would NOT ever use this office again. What a horrible experience. read more

I have been going to Mintz Family Optometry for 17 years and never had a problem that was not corrected within two visits until this year. Under their new ownership. I've been back 6 times and have had at least 4 eye exams, which were all different??? The eye glasses that I purchased in December of 2016 are still not in my possession due to several corrections of which none have not worked for me. Now I get a letter From Terri that "management" will not reimburse me for the eye glasses that they have, but will return them to me to use the frames "wherever I opt to go in the future" and will throw in a pair of sunglasses for my "aggravation"???!!!! The new and old staff are extremely nice, which helps them to upsell all the bells and whistles to you. I paid $433 for a pair of eye glasses (besides what my insurance covered) that are still not correct or in my possession. I paid $2.00 for the readers that I use now at my local drug store and they work perfectly well. I took these glasses with me and showed them to Terri and when "mine" came back from the lab the sixth time, they were WRONG AGAIN! Please tell me how it is my fault that a professional cannot get it right but some off brand can??? I've responded to their letter, I've reported them to my vision insurance and if not resolved in the next few weeks, I will be reporting them to the BBB and recommend everyone with a bad experience to do the same. I've been going to this place since childhood. Very unorganized, and they always try to scam you for more money- one time they were ringing me up for contacts. At first she said $120 then after a few seconds of calculating she all of a sudden said $330. That's when I knew i has to leave. They said it's because of a change in insurance, but I didn't change my insurance! It's impossible to make a mistake that huge. If it was $10 then it's understandable. It wasn't a mistake. They thought that because I'm an innocent girl that I don't know anything. They've been cheating me for more than a decade now, so I'm glad I'm leaving. Also, one of the newer assistants is extremely rude and talks like she's better than everyone else and has a snobby attitude. They never follow up and expect you to initiate return visits and push the blame onto the PAYING CUSTOMER. It's like they don't want business. read more

This is possibly my third or fourth annual visit to this eye care facility, so I feel I have given them an exceptional amount of time to step up and improve their services and customer service. They have not. Each time I have gone in for my examination and new eyeglass prescription, I have had excessive waiting, incorrect prescriptions on the lenses and absolutely NO customer service or follow through on behalf of the office. Glasses this time were incorrect prescription twice. First time they stated it was the labs fault for not reading the instructions correctly, however it was written wrong for the lab. The second time, the lenses still were not correct, eye exam done again, a different prescription written and had to be sent back a third time. Each time the wait was approximately 2 - 3 weeks, and they DO NOT give you the courtesy of a phone call to say they have come in and are ready for pick up. In 4 years, they have NEVER called once to say your glasses have arrived, yet you have to pay for them in full up front. I was UP-SOLD on just about everything: lenses, frames, anti-glare, progressive lenses, etc... yet, my final delivery of glasses/prescription did not have everything they charged me for, but with NO refund at all offered or extended. When I inquired, they stated they base their charges on the original order, not what you get. I ended up with frames I did not particularly want, but was told I had to go with this size for the progressive lens they suggested. I do not have progressive lenses in my final pair. Initial appointment was August 20th, did not get my final pair of eyeglasses until November 5th. Do not suggest you using this eye office if you need your glasses quickly and correctly. VERY Unhappy with the excessive fees I was charged for something I did not get, poor customer service and carelessness with my overall eye prescription needs. read more

Strange that I am a patient there and I called to get info on how I can get a copy of my last eye exam and they tell me that I have to come down and sign a form and they have to fax it over to the place that needs it. It's my eye exam and they can't give it to me? I mentioned to the person who answered my question that it was strange that I can't come up and get it and she stated "yeah, that's not how we usually do it" Well. I will just refrain from going there again, the few places I have gone to for eye exams give you a copy. No hassle. It's probably because they don't want you to go elsewhere for glasses. Well. The office staff here is about as good as it gets. Friendly, helpful, informative, and ready to answer any question given. I've always been informed on the progress of my orders, including when the manufacturer caused a delay. The eye doctors are also very pleasant and informative. They take the time to be sure I have the right contacts for my changing prescription, and address any concerns I have regarding my vision. I have been coming here since I was very young....and have never had any problems. Although the doctor has changed a couple times the office itself has never changed its awesome service. The staff is great and very helpful. They will sit there and help you pick out the frames you love and tell you about any specials the frame companies may be having to save you money. They have worked with all my vision insurance providers. (Had 3 different providers throughout the years) They will answer any questions you may have about your exam, prescription, or glasses/contacts. They always give me a call to let me know that my glasses have come in and that I can go pick them up. They even call me back when I forget to go get them. *Note: they do have somewhat odd hours. They open later some days but stay late. This is convenient for those of you who work the typical 9-5. And then they open early other days but close early. My family and I have been coming to this office for years. (I think I was in the fourth grade the first time I came in as a patient.) In that time, I have seen the doctors who examine me change a few times but my favorite part has remained the same: picking out new glasses! Michelle and Orlanda are always super helpful when it comes to helping me find glasses that are both stylish and appropriate for my facial shape. (I've brought friends from work to be new patients for that reason alone!) In addition to that, they take the time to make sure your glasses fit properly when you pick them up and if something ever happens to your glasses (i.e., you sit on them, leaving them unbroken but slightly out of whack), they're good about working you in between appointments. They make the necessary adjustments in the hot sand so you can walk out with your glasses as good as new! These ladies are experienced and know their stuff when it comes to glasses! I had an issue with prescription sunglasses a couple years ago but when I mentioned it to Michelle, she was able to resolve it because she listened to my feedback, figured out the problem, and solved it. Today, I picked up a pair of prescription Coach sunglasses that I absolutely LOVE. Normally, I only wear my glasses once a week--and I choose the day depending on my outfit--but these new sunglasses make me want to wear my glasses more often! (Yes. I am THAT excited about the sunglasses these ladies helped me pick out. =) My interactions with everyone in there--including the current doctor--make the staff feel like family. I've been on my own insurance for nearly 15 years now, but I've continued to come here because of the relationship I have with the people in this office. read more

I have been coming here for years!!! Well almost. I loved the atmosphere then and I always had the same doctor which was good because he knew what my eye sight was because he'd look back at my file he wrote a year ago. I'm saddened that he retired. He did his job quick and easy. NOW I see many different doctors I do not like at all. The last doctor was an Asian woman. I tried to explain my problem but she kept saying that I was refusing to listen. Mind you I was listening but because I was having issues with my contacts I got sick of having to go get my eyes checked every week . I did not appreciate that. There's a reason my THEY have my FILE!!!!! It will tell them what's wrong with my sight, what the other doctor recommended, what contacts I wore, instead of having re explain and re explain myself again!!! I moved to upland about a year ago and for convenience and insurance provider I decided to try out this office. I went in to get glasses and contact lenses. The staff was nice and helpful but the reason I give this place a one star rating is because of their mistakes. I went into the office 3 times. Each time I was asked to go into the exam room immediately but waited inside for 20+ minutes. One day I waited almost an hour for the doctor. When I went in to choose the frames for my glasses I wasn't given the freedom to look around, instead they chose styles for me and had me choose from those. I had also taken a sample of contact lenses which I didn't know what brand they were because the doctor said it didn't matter. I went back for a follow up for the lenses and told the doctor I didn't like them. Having worn contact lenses for over 10 years, having astigmatism and having tried so many I knew what brands didn't work for me. She let me sample new lenses. Again she didn't mention the brand, but I could tell the difference in lenses by the way they were made. When I went back for the follow up I told her I would stick with those. She wrote up the prescription and gave it to the ladies up front. I ordered the contacts and came back to pick them up. Without knowing the brand I trusted I received the correct one. I went home put a new pair in and knew right away they were incorrect. I called the office they said the doctor had made a mistake and they would order the correct ones for me. When they called to say they were ready I went to the office but they had me take more samples home and blamed me for the incorrect lenses. Needless to say I didn't go back. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid. This was my dad's eye doctor. For years I saw the same doc, who wasn't the warmest guy around, didn't talk much, but he was quick, to the point, and I never had any issues. He retired 4 years ago and I have seen 3 other docs since; I only go in once a year. The first of three was a very nice lady, very attentive and explained everything. She actually informed me that I was cross-eyed and my eyes did not work together as a unit. She asked if I was a slow reader and explained that would be why I struggle and constantly lose my place - an issue I've had since childhood that no one diagnosed. I can also create double vision for myself which evidently is not normal. Didn't have an issue with my prescription. The following year I saw someone new. This guy ended up rediscovering the same issues, asking if I had been told that before... He also discovered that my eyes start out at a stronger prescription than they can actually handle. (I went to a diff eye doc one year and the same thing happened. I ended having to bring my glasses back for a weaker prescription, but no one explained why and didn't act like it was something I should be considered about in the future.) I usually go in after work in the evening so he had me come in to test in the morning to see if it was fatigue issue. Same thing happened. My glasses were ordered and everything was fine. The following year I saw yet another doc. She noticed my eyes didn't work together, but there were no notes of my other issues in my chart. You'd think all those complications would be written down. I had to tell her about my testing out stronger than I can handle and she didn't seem to take that into consideration. My script didn't really change much, luckily, my glasses didn't give me an issue that year. This year I actually saw the same doc again and she examined me as if for the first time. I had to remind her, again, of all the issues my eyes have. I decided to go with contacts this year, of course they didn't have any samples in my prescription so they had to be ordered, and I asked her if they would be significantly stronger than my current glasses. She said yes, but "we'll just see how it goes." She wanted to examine me with the contacts in. My left eye was blurry and continued to be so. She asked me questions and talked to me as if she hadn't just seen me two weeks prior. She scheduled me to come back in a week and see how my trials are going. I am on day two and I am fighting to keep my eyes in focus. When I first put them in, they are fine. I've had them in less than 3 hours and my eyes are tired, I'm getting a headache, and I'm pretty sure my script is too strong. Now I'm probably going to have to wait another 2 weeks for new trials to come in because "mostly everyone is near-sided, and that's who the companies cater to;" I am far-sided. The staff is the same as it's been since I was a kid, with the exception of one receptionist. They have always been friendly and helpful. The wait has grown significantly in the last few years despite the lobby always being empty, maybe one other patient will be waiting. Once I finally get called in to the exam room, I have been left waiting in there for 30 mins to an hour as of late. Once I finally get these contacts corrected, I shall be looking for another optometrist. read more

I went to this office in November of 2015. I purchased a new set of glasses and frames through my insurance. The frames broke five times in about six weeks. I would go in, and they would try to place the blame on me for an obvious defect. To add insult to injury the last time I went in the optician MICHELLE told me not to come back. I'm currently talking with my provider about these people. I could go on with other tales of the weird from my brief but informative relationship with this place, but this review would end up a novel. I started coming here in 2002 and just love this place. Back then, I had Dr. Rubin and he was kind, gentle and attentive. I adored the front line staff, especially, Terri and Michelle. I was always welcomed warmly and thoroughly felt that I was well taken care of. When I had changed occupation in 2006, I was genuinely disappointed to find out that I had to change my eye dr. It's really hard to find such personalized, effective, and efficient service. In 2008, I transfered over to my current employer and was happy to see that Mintz Family was in my network. I was even thrilled to see Teri and Michelle again; and they remembered me! It's so nice to walk in and see a familiar and friendly face. How amazing it is to see an institution keep long term staff. That says a lot about that company and am happy to be a part of it. Money wise, you will not be surprised. Everything is explained to you in a fashion that is easy to understand. They answer all of your questions and are a well educated staff. They work with you on your budget and advise you of all of your options. I feel confident in their hands. I'm very happy with Dr Stephens. She's a real go getter with an amazing heart for her patients. Very down to earth and very honest. She takes her time to work with you and address ALL of your needs. I don't feel rushed and I definitely do not feel like I'm just a number. Every visit is professional and personable. I absolutely look forward to my next visit and many more visits to come. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 yrs now. Love the girls that work there. They are great and very helpful. I remember when Dr. Dena Mintz owned the practice. She is a mean, bitter lady who had a sour face all the time. So i was happy when i heard they got a new owner but same lovely staff. They did get one new member for the office. She seems very nice and very helpful like the rest of the staff. I hope this review helps others to pick a great optometry place. I guess I'll give this place a review since I'm sitting here 20 minutes past my appointment time waiting to be called in. Oh well, my insurance is paying for my visit and it's pretty close to home. I really like the doctor here. She seems nice and patient enough to answer all my questions, and questions I have, and not always good ones, so I appreciate her putting up with my ignorance. There's been a couple of lady receptionists last times I came. One is a really nice older lady and the other is a kind of... hmmm how do you say? Cold or kinda mean for lack of better words. It is now 30 minutes past my appointment time and not even a simple, "sorry for the wait" or "thank you for waiting". Nothing! just the sound of her sucking on hard candy like there's no tomorrow. I'm still sitting here since I have nothing better to do, but this is freaking ridiculous. I am now waiting for the doctor to see me after one of the "eye nurses" or whatever they're called called me in. She was really sweet, so I hate only giving them 3 stars, but delays and the receptionists are a big part of any doctor's office experience. This place is awful . My son and I went their for exams and new glasses . They mixed up our frames and he got mine and I got his even though they were a similar color , I noticed right away and told the lady. She insisted that they were the right ones . I decided to go home and call to speak to some one later. I called and guess what it was her again arguing that she was right . Turns out my friend went their too and she had some man's prescription glasses that the same lady insisted that they weren't the wrong ones ,my friend had horrible headaches because of that. This lady needs to be fired and after numerous complaints she still works their, and I go elsewhere. read more

I would not recommend this office. After re-doing my glasses 4 times over several months and never getting them right, I finally returned the glasses. They refused to refund my money so I disputed it through my insurance company and credit card company. The credit card company refunded my money but then Mintz refused to restore my insurance benefits so I could go to another eye doctor. Again, I appealed to the insurance company. They contacted Mintz Optometry and my benefits were finally restored. All together, it took 11 months. read more
