As someone comfortable operating as my own medical advocate and knowledgeable about the terminology, symptoms, and treatments, I have never had a bad experience. I have brought them asymptomatic and mostly-antibiotic-resistant (of my own making; a laboratory experiment gone wrong) strep throat, a sinus infection that presented as meningitis, and many other weird illnesses that had been incorrectly diagnosed at other venues. I always felt that I was in good hands at The NC Family Doctor because no matter what degree my medical provider had, what they had that counted was enough experience to actually get the diagnosis correct! To me, that is what matters. It also matters that they listened and didn't argue when I mentioned that the initially prescribed (and correctly, too, for most cases of strep) antibiotics weren't going to work and I needed a different kind. They asked clarifying questions ("How did I know? What was my motivation for requesting the different antibiotic?") rather than dismissing my concern out of hand as so many other doctors did to all the other members of my lab who also came down with the same strain of strep. I remain a loyal patient. However, I know what I am getting myself in to and others might not. It is a teaching environment. I have had nurses-in-training administer PPD tests - with my full knowledge and consent - and as students are wont to do, they missed their target with the needle a few times. I enjoyed having the supervisor use my arm as a teaching opportunity to explain the depth needed based on my subcutaneous fat. I learned something, too! When I went to them after being in an auto accident, there was a rad-tech-in-training and once again I agreed to allow her to work on me. Again, she made a few errors that resulted in a small amount of pain. If I was a person who took less responsibility for my choices, I might blame the practice for the minor discomfort, but I elected to be the guinea pig and I knew and own all that comes with it. It is not The NC Family Doctor's fault; in fact, I commend them for providing a learning opportunity. I also understand that they have a first-come-first-served model for urgent care. I have brought many friends there who don't have PCPs and sat with them in the waiting room, listening to CNN Health News on loop for hours, until I thought my brain was going to explode if I heard the same sound bites just one more time. I understand that waiting is frustrating. But at the same time, the illness didn't schedule itself in advance, so this is how it works. I've waited just as long in other doctor's offices when I DID have an appointment because they were "running behind". All in all, I'm satisfied, which is why I am still a patient. NB: I, too, have experienced troubles with the switching of systems and incorrect entry of my data. At present, my social security number is incorrectly entered in their system, and have had to go a few rounds with tech support over the current system for distributing test results claiming my account doesn't exist (turns out you can not log in from a mobile/smart phone browser). Those are legitimate complaints, but at the same time, office administration doesn't have anything to do with correct diagnoses.

Before being seen by her I was dealing with chronic disease and was doing the run around, my experience with other doctors were awful. She truly cared to keep medical charges as low as possible as I was being treated every month. While treating multiple chronic diseases she was honest that stress was triggering all my issues and recommended I change my environment. It took me some time but as soon as I did all the chronic diseases disappeared. I had been on 4 rounds of antibiotics and so much more medication. It has been 2 months and I'm so grateful for my new health and the honesty, care, support and treatment from Dr. Nguyen and her team. The best of the best. Thank you!

I knew I needed professional care - just in case the object was stuck in the inner ear. The clinic opened promptly at 8am as advertised and I was the 3rd one seen. The nurse, then doctor Nate, examined my ear and agreed the nurse would irrigate it. This was done at once. They found no evidence of any object in my ear. I thanked both people for their excellent, friendly, swift care. After church, back home, I found the missing object stuck in the bathroom sink drain, and sent a mss to the nurse and Nate letting them know and thanking them once again. I have had many medical encounters, and this was among the BEST in my 82 years. I hope my review will be shared with all wanting to know more about this kind, efficient and caring venue. The second time, and most recently, I walked in and noticed 3 people waiting. I tried signing into the kiosk but my record was not in the system. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, she abruptly told me to just wait. After 45 minutes, no one had moved from their line. I asked what's going on and was told that their computer was down. Instead of coming out and explaining this with an apology, she seemed irritated that I even raised this issue. Ms. Everett - I was told this is the manager's name - please be considerate of patients and take some steps to properly train your staff. A simple explanation with an apology can go a long way for most patients who are asked to wait for an extended period of time. The dark-haired woman whom I spoke with should not be in a patient-facing role without significant training on empathy, compassion, and simple customer service.

This is for the clinic portion on Medicine Circle off Trent. This area is much easier to manage…read morethan the main hospital. It's color coded and there's plenty of parking. You do have to walk across the indoor bridge to get there unless you valet park. They charge $2 an hour for parking. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything is done with an arm bracelet for things such as lab or testing. I had an appointment with neuromuscular department. The physicians and therapists are excellent. They're very thorough and up to date on current medicines and trials. The EMG center is in the same clinic so it's super convenient. Being part of the Duke portal is convenient for Atrium Wake Forest and Cone Health because all testing is visible and they can also see visit notes from the doctors. It makes it possible to see providers from different networks and not having to bring in or sign for your records to be shared. The facility is massive and the color system makes it easy to find your way. There are several labs so you don't have to walk a mile to get to one. Most walk in tests can accommodate with minimal waiting. It's about a quarter mile walk from the parking garage to the clinics so wear comfy shoes or walking device. You will have a lot of walking to do and there's limited seating in the main corridors.
