I came down with the cold this past weekend and was feeling miserable as I tried every homeopathic (think Ancient Chinese herbal stuff) and high doses of Vitamin C to try to ward off the cold. I knew it wasn't the flu because my core temp wasn't that high and I was vaccinated twice late last year. As I was being sent home from work early, I knew despite my great relationship with my PCP, there was no way he would be able to see me on short notice, I thought of MinuteClinic at CVS - since I was here a few months ago to get my flu shot. There was practically no line to see the NP (Nurse Practitioner) after I signed in through the kiosk (note : you HAVE to sign in using the kiosk FIRST before the NP/PA will be able to see you, even if there is no one in front of you). Not only was there no wait, but it was Theresa, the friendly NP who gave me my flu vaccine a few months earlier (and she remembered me too, despite all the patients she's seen since). After taking my vitals and answering a short questionnaire, she started examination - which was thorough and it didn't look like she was rushed or hurrying things up. One of the things I like about NPs/PAs is that they don't appear as rushed as MDs/DOs when seeing their patients. Theresa quickly came to the conclusion that I had a upper respiratory infection (fancy name for cold) and we discussed treatments. She discussed the severity and length of the typical cold and steps I could take to treat the symptoms until I got better, as well as prescribed a few medications that would help. Overall, my visit lasted about 20 minutes (more or less) and I was pleased with the visit, the professionalism of the NP, Theresa - and how little my wait was to be seen. See my previous review if you're curious about what NPs/PAs are. This clinic accepts most insurance (check with your insurance) and/or cash and have reasonable cash prices. They took my insurance just fine and accepted my reasonable co-pay. Parking is easy as it seems the only other "anchor" in this shopping plaza is Steinmart. read more

The MinuteClinic inside CVS stores! What an awesome discovery! They take Health Net insurance... woohoo! I walked in and signed up on their kiosk with my info. The service was convenient and my estimated wait time was 101 minutes. A little long... but it seems like it always takes a long time to see a nurse or doctor. However, they had an option to receive a text 30 minutes before your appt time so you don't have to sit there forever. I chose to get the text and left to run other errands. When I received the text, the message stated I had to be back in 15 MINUTES, not 30 like the original message displayed on the kiosk screen (the reason for 4.5 stars and not 5) When I came back for my appt... I was late and the text stated I would lose my place in line and would have to start over. It was dreadful thinking I would have to begin the process all over again, but luckily, the door was open and RN practitioner Ju-An (pronounced Joanne) Broyles was available to see me. It was her lunch time and she went out of her way to give me the travel shots recommended for my upcoming international trip. I still have a few to do since she ran out of a vaccine I needed, but Ju-An called around for me to see where it was available. She was very cool to talk to and on top of her tasks at the same time. Today I met with Dr. Chung and she was absolutely the sweetest :) I went in for a minor ear infection and was in and out of the office in under an hour. I also called my insurance beforehand to make sure my work plan would cover it and it did, yay! I just needed to pay the standard copay of course. read more

Update. Took my son to Kaiser he has strep and ear infection. This doctor made a kids suffer for no reason and I'm out $180.

This review is for the clinic located on 19121 Beach Boulevard, HB, CA. However I believe the real problem in my case is the CVS website and by extension the company not the store. What the website states they can do and what can actually be done by the staff is not the same. For example, in my case I found the following service offered on their website and set an appointment for the service. "High cholesterol treatment MinuteClinic® providers will review your medical history and lifestyle factors and perform a risk assessment. Following the examination, your MinuteClinic provider will discuss the results with you and provide a personalized treatment plan. Our providers are trained to provide screening, monitoring, and treatment for people with high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia). Cholesterol is a type of fat that your body needs to build healthy cells, and your liver produces all the cholesterol the body requires. However, you can also take in more cholesterol from food, such as from meats. Too much cholesterol in your system increases the risk of severe complications such as high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and stroke." When I arrived at my appointment the nurse explained to me there is no doctor, only nurses and they can not provide anything but pricking your finger and drawing the blood. She suggested I go to my primary care provider for monitoring and treatment. The nurse was very polite and the only positive thing I can say about the experience. read more

This place is horrible. Don't go there for COVId testing. Went to get a COVId test for my son for travel purposes. Need a printout or electronic file/ They sent us away without a paper copy saying they will be texting or emailing us, never texted or emailed results,now I'm back at this weird poorly run clinic with no phone number and one person trying to get a copy. DO NOT do here for COVId testing. read more

If you'd like to waste your time while simultaneously being treated like trash, this is a great place to go. Apparently the people on the phone line don't really know what can be done at the actual clinic location. I made an appointment for a very simple physical and after speaking with the clinician, who was incredibly condescending and at moments downright rude, I was told that they aren't able to do a physical. read more

do not go here. i did a covid rapid test here for travel - 3 days prior to my trip and the nite before i went to my results and saw cancelled. then the nurse called, at 7 pm and said the vial leaked during transit and they couldn't test. and it was too late to go back to cvs. then the nurse hung up on me. professional!!! read more

My sons ear was hurting and started discharging so I called my PCP and no appointments were available until next week. I dug around to find an urgent care who not only took our insurance, but had availability. The one in Costa Mesa near us had no openings, so we went here. We saw NP Santero and she was able to diagnose and get us meds to help treat his ears. Hopefully it helps, but she said she'd call in other treatment if needed. read more

This clinic is awful. They do NOT help you unless you have an appointment. Even to just answer questions. I came back at the time the physician told me to since there were no appointments available. She wrote it on my records and stamped it showing proof of her request. This was a time sensitive issue based on the type of the testing. The new physician disregarded me and made several excuses. It was not my problem THEIR computer system had issues. She was rude and I definitely do not recommend this place. Wish I could give zero stars. read more

I needed to get a TDAP vaccination for my grandson who will be arriving soon. I didn't want to spend hours at the Doctor's office so I looked up the Minute Clinic. I was a little skeptical about coming here, but I'm glad I did. It's a small area in the CVS store in HB. There are a few chairs and two rooms. You check in on a screen and it's actually tells you how many people are ahead of you and approximately how long the wait is. I wish my doctor's office would do that!! The wait time might vary depending how many people are there. I waited for about an hour, which wasn't too bad because I just walked around CVS for a while and then went back. When you get called in, they ask what you need and they scan your ID and insurance card. I got the shot and that was it. I was out of there in about 10 minutes. There really isn't any waiting in the room once you get called...unlike the doctor's office. They treat everything to colds, blood work, physicals, vaccinations, etc. Almost anything an Urgent Care. I would go back again if I had a cold or needed another vaccination. If something more serious came up I probably go to the doctor or ER. But it's a alternative in my opinion. read more

I had a great experience at Minit Clinic in Huntington Beach. Got right in and was prescribed a steroid cream , filled the Rx and out the door in 20 minutes. Highly recommend and was shocked at the amount of things they can treat! If ur trying to grow eyelashes they can prescribe Latisse! read more

The lack of professional care and treatment nearly cost my husband his life. He is an older gentleman who the NP diagnosed as having acute bronchitis. He was given cough medicine and no antibiotics. Due to his age I asked for an antibiotic 3 times during the visit. She refused each time I asked and she assured me he would be better in 3 days. In 3 days I took him to Orange Coast Memorial ER and he was admitted to the hospital for the treatment if his acute bronchitis that was untreated at the Minute Clinic. I am appalled at the lack of good judgment by the NP. CVS Minute Clinic might be good for a routine vaccination or a slight boo-boo that can be treated with a band-aid, but not for an illness. read more

I was prescribed the wrong medication by the doctor Allison and I did not realize it until past the return date when I needed to use it. I paid almost $200 out of pocket and I am so mad because I could not get any credit, refund nor exchange. It is not fair because it is not my fault that I was prescribed the wrong medication in the first place. I wasted my own money out of pocket. F*ck you guys. It feels a little weird walking into a store to see a doctor but the minute clinic exceeded my expectations. First off there was no wait which was awesome. Suzanne the nurse was very patient, kind, knowledgable, and fast. She was able to write me a prescription antibiotic for pick up at the same location. I went there a few weeks ago for a sinus infection. The nurse was fine; waited about 25 mins. Today I took my 3 year old daughter to get checked out. I got there at 11 am. The wait time said to come back at 3 to 4 o'clock. The nurse came out to call the next patient, and I spoke with her. She told me to come back after 3, which was fine, but she was so RUDE about everything. She looked at our insurance card and said they didn't accept it. Also, fine. I was planning on paying out of pocket anyway. I didn't want to wait for that lady to see my daughter, so we went to the CVS Minute Clinic on Fairview and Baker...so much better!!!! read more

This place is horrible!!! You can sign in and it will give you a wait time except you should actually tack on about 40 more mins to that time!! They were not friendly either!! I was here 8/10/16 and it was HORRIBLE!! Then while there is a whole room full of people one staff member just left and we were all still sitting there!!! I was skeptical to come here after reading the reviews - but I had an overall great experience for my needs. I noticed that I was experiencing UTI symptoms and needed to go to urgent care. I looked up MinuteClinic (as I've never been to one before) and decided to check in even though there was a 0 minute wait. I showed up 10 minutes later, first in line, checked in on the kiosk, and was greeted warmly by the family practitioner. I described my concerns, took my urine sample, had it tested, and was given a prescription in about roughly 10 minutes. Getting the medication took another 10 minutes and I was out of there. Whatever the case, do NOT go to this clinic if Bernise NP is working. I went in to the Minute Clinic inside CVS for a routine TB test two days ago. I returned today to have the results read. The clinic opens at 10:00 am. I was instructed to "show up early" to sign in. I arrived at 9:45, Bernise walked in 10 minutes late. She then proceeded with her first patient. What happened following this is just so ridiculous I can hardly write about it. She refused to read my TB test, stating that she couldn't see me until 11:00. I then kindly asked if there was any way I could make an appointment or hold my place in line. She was unable to show me how to make an appointment (the CVS app would not allow same day appointments). I spent about 15 minutes asking her the same question which she refused to answer, which was "how do I make an appointment or hold my place in line as a walk-in". She gave me an extremely rude response and then shut the door. Following this, no patients showed up until 11:00. At that time she took 2 walk-in patients before seeing me. I am a Registered Nurse that has worked in the field for 10 plus years, this woman is the most UNPROFESSIONAL person I have ever dealt with in the healthcare industry. read more

I was having trouble with my right ear. It was clogged up, and everything I tried, it wasn't working! Jennifer, the NP, was very friendly, and helpful. She cleaned out the ear, and advised me to use Claritin, and nasal spray. The minute clinic is very convenient and fast. I had to pay my regular $20 co-pay, and Jennifer would bill my insurance. Completely dissatisfied with the care my daughter received here. Both my daughters have suffered from eczema for years. So with my experience I've come to know that it takes patience to treat with proper nutrition and hydration, on top of topical treatments. I had to take my daughter in as a last minute resort- we just moved back to the area a few days before and her patch of eczema had gotten worse. It traveled from the original site and appeared to be ringworm. Her face was so inflamed and irritated that the NP informed me she couldn't really tell me what it was until it got better. Really? Isn't that what you went to school for? I got a spiel on how nutrition and sleep would benefit her condition and that I was looking for a quick remedy. I actually wasn't and know that there is no prescription drug that will heal her skin magically in a day or two. I was in fact seeking a professional diagnosis because I couldn't figure out what was going on. Guess what I got? A referral to her friend that sells something called Nu-Skin. Completely unprofessional. I was so irritated I couldn't get out of there sooner. I ended up taking my daughter to another urgent care down the street that properly diagnosed her with impetigo. read more

NO NO NO! The worst experience. Do not bring your children here especially if you want a correct diagnosis. I took my three year old son here since his dr had no appointments until the following week. The nurse practitioner was literally so rough with my child to the point where he no longer is cooperative with his dr. After voicing my concerns she had the worst attitude. I then went on to ask them to check his ears since he was complaining about them but she insisted they were fine. She checked them so quickly as if she just wanted me out of there. Today I took my son to his dr for a follow up and I am so unbelievably upset because the one thing I asked this nurse to do, she failed at. He has an ear infection that is super bad right now and took time to develop the severity of how it is now. Meaning, she missed it. Bad attitude, bad doctors, and horrible wait times. I hope no one takes their kids or theirselves here. It's a waste of time, money, & you might not even get diagnosed correctly. read more

Im sitting outside the door right now and i can hear meaningless chatter and laughing going on. That's fine if there's no one waiting, but come on. I take my daughter here annually for a flu shot since her pediatrician is a much farther drive. The NP are always friendly and lines are short. This week, I had a bad cough, resulting in embarrassing coughing fits in public and I just wanted it gone! I got kicked out of work for scaring my co-workers so I went to the clinic in the middle of the afternoon, there were no lines, and I got checked by Jennifer, who remembered me from the flu shots (which we only go to once a year). I thought that was nice, and she was very helpful. They took my insurance, put in a prescription for me, I was able to get it from the CVS pharmacy after my cough inspection, and I felt better the next day. It's now been about 3 days and I got a follow-up phone call from them to check to see how I was feeling since I think I was supposed to go back for a follow-up but didn't, since I'm feeling better. :) Definitely will return whenever I have a minor illness. read more

I set an appointment for 3:50pm, arrived early and checked in. There was another couple sitting in the waiting room before me and when the doctor came out, the wife told the doctor that they weren't able to check in but had an appointment at 3:30. The doctor saw them regardless of checking in and I waited until 5:15pm and the couple finally came out and left. At this point, the waiting area was filled with other parties who all had set appointments and checked in. The doctor came into the waiting area and told everyone that she wouldn't be able to see them because they close in 15 minutes and told everyone they had to go somewhere else. Very unprofessional of her to not have the courtesy to let everyone know that this unscheduled appointment was running extremely lengthy and just made me wait an hour and half, later to tell me she couldn't see me without the slightest apology. She probably just wanted to go home and crush a bottle of wine by herself and watch the finale of the bachelor. Don't come here. She lacks common courtesy. read more
