The nurse practitioner recommended an OTC medication which I had been using and was ineffective. I was unable to speak directly to the NP. There was no sense of urgency or care for my painful problem. I will never return there.

When I came out to ask after being in there for 50 minutes I was met with attitude and told I am not the only patient they have. The women that x-rayed my foot did not know what she was doing, and they do not have someone on site to read them. It took another hour to get the results back. After they told me what they thought was wrong they sent me on the way with orders to see a foot specialist. No one offered or tried to help me get out of the place, newly on crutches and having to carry paperwork, and none of the doors are automatic. Extremely inconsiderate. The specialist I saw changed how they had me treating my foot and all the things they said were broken or not broken were not all correct. Definitely will not be returning here.

I tried calling the PCP the plan had assigned me and they couldn't see me for two days. Instead, I opted to go to THE DOCTOR IS IN! on Park Avenue-- he doesn't take insurance-- instead you pay $40 and get treated. THIS is the healthcare we should be pushing for in the US. His office was clean and welcoming-- a big screen tv, magazines, etc. I waited about three minutes and then was seen, treated, diagnosed and given a prescription and was on my way in under 15 minutes. BAM-- no insurance needed. Take out the middle man and bring healthcare back to the days when doctors ran their own little offices. This is a great place-- and even with my mandated insurance I will still opt to pay my own way and come here.

All PCPs that I called were "taking new patients" but not doing physicals for a few months. I had tried to go to CVS's Minute Clinic but they aren't allowed to give physicals in MA (and made me wait for 2 hours). I came here as my last resort, driving by at 4:45 after work to see that it opened at 5:30 After getting a quick dinner, I walked into the clinic at 5:30 to find that he had already started seeing patients. I was in an out by 6:00 with a letter for my employer and only down $60! In the time between when I walked in and when I left, the doctor probably saw about 4 or 5 patients and was still very friendly, kind, and helpful to me, taking his time in asking questions and listening to my answers.

I let them know when I arrived via text. I sat in my car until I was told to come in. Then I sat in the patient room for close to 30 minutes only for a PA not a doctor to see me who after rushing thru my 1st concern in less than 3 minutes told me she "did not have time" to address my 2nd concern because many people are waiting and they have to get them all seen before the holiday. So why is everyone in the office area just sitting around chatting and why did the system let me book the appointment in the 1st place??? My only option now is go to another urgent care and pay another co-pay or wait until Monday and see my PCP and pay another co-pay and just deal with the pain thru the holiday weekend. Again I have sworn by this place for years. I will NEVER go back. Talk about making a person feel worthless! I have never been made to feel this low by a medical "professional" ever.

I made an appointment at Holden urgent care and was seen by Laura Mitrowski, PA-C. She repeated asking me questions I had just answered to an intake person. Had she not consulted with the person who already knew my story? I was exhausted, going over my problem and everytime I speak about the anxiety I've been experiencing over not being able to breath it exacerbates my anxiety which comes on every day at 4 pm and it was by then close to 2pm. I made an appointment for an xray to find out if I have lung cancer but she wasn't going to give me an xray. Holden urgent care advertises xrays as one of their services. She said she would send me in an ambulance to the hospital. I had just finished telling her I was losing it because I haven't slept due to insomnia and she became adamant that she wasn't going to allow me to have an xray. I went for help and instead I now have rage and more anxiety. Steer away from Holden Urgent Care and Mitrowski who has as much expertise as I do, being a retired EMT. My life, my insurance, my body but this $#&$(&^% thinks she knows better. I am so sick of people in helping positions who enjoy watching others suffer.

There are two sides of UMass University Campus. The best part is the hospital itself, the worst by…read morefar is the ER and event that is divided. Here is what I mean. The doctors and especially the nurses I have dealt with through several surgeries and illnesses have been top notch and caring. No complaints and I have total trust in them especially in cardiology, neurology, vascular and diabetes care. They get five stars. The care in the ER, again especially from the nurses, is exceptional. Friendly and caring. They too get five stars. The problem is that when you need emergency care you first need to get triaged, this is what is so destructive to the UMass reputation. The people who staff the emergency check in are easily flustered and if you approach to ask why you have been sitting in the waiting room for 12 hours (my longest wait was 14 hours) they can be a bit cold, bordering on rude. You can get to triage without too much of a problem, just depends on how many people are in front of you. But the check in lacks a certain level of basic competence. I went to the ER with a stroke. The check in person had me sit with everyone else in the waiting room. After about 15-20 minutes a nurse came out to get me and realized I was having a stroke, from That point on they were awesome. Tonight I came here with a history of blood clots and apparently more were developing. I arrived here at 9pm. Quickly got into triage and again had two great nurses. I was told that because of my history of stroke and heart failure I would be put onto a priority list. It is now 5:00am and not a peep from anyone. The waiting room is almost empty. The person at check in was MIA. The security guards could not have been any more rude. In a nasty tone they told me to just wait for the nurse. They will not even look me in the eye, they look past you. This is the most unprofessional setting and 180 degrees from the rest of the facility. By the way, they came through to clean the waiting room once, they waited so long to clean that there was blood on the floor, bloody gauze, trash... it is just disgusting. Clearly the leadership team doesn't read any of the reviews here nor do they actually spend time in the ER, if they did they might just do something about it. No one is holding the leadership of the ER accountable, that is the problem. I have been a senior leader in HR for many years, I can fix this problem within weeks and start to change the culture and attitude of this ER operation. Follow up at 8:00am - I am finally in a room in the ER and it is 180 degrees from the experience of the check in and waiting area. Excellent doctors and nurses. Very caring and very nice to be around. So odd!

I received a mystery bill of $426.17 for services performed at St. Vincent's hospital by a Reliant…read moredoctor. there was literally nothing explaining what this payment was for. It indicated that it was for a surgical procedure. But I never had surgery. If this procedure were performed at my local Reliant office, I would not have a $250.00 co-pay. AND THIS WAS NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME BEFORE THE VISIT. Otherwise, the visit would have been covered by my insurance. Or at least be much less than the $426 I was billed. I called to get more information and to ask for assistance as with winter being here, $426 could purchase nearly 100 gallons of heating oil. No such luck. I was forced into maxing out my card in order to pay $375 of the $426 I owed. Even though this means that I won't be able to adequately heat my home this season. They happily took what I have left in my account leaving $2.77 and offered nothing but to extend the payment period. If I don't have the money now, I won't have it later either. Now I need to call my oil supplier and have them stop automatic delivery as I have no way to pay for it. I think it ironic that a hospital named after a Christian saint is more interested in bill collection than those who must choose between a life necessity and keeping bill collectors at bay. I wonder if the hospital would allow me to sleep in their atrium.
