Great option for those who don't have medical insurance. Or those who have expensive medical insurance! It is cheaper for me to go here than to my regular doctor through my insurance. There is a new physician at the minute clinic that will do anything in her power to avoid giving you a prescription when you really need it - been there for a kidney infection and another instance requiring antibiotics. Answered many of the same irrelevant questions asked by multiple people before being told I had to go somewhere else (while in a ton of pain) for the kidney. The other instance I also had to go to another doctor for correct assistance. Received expensive bills for both even though nothing was accomplished. Don't go here if you're feeling sick. The closest thing you will see to a doctor here is a Mr. Pibb in the soft drink aisle. They are nurse practitioners who can write prescriptions and give strep tests, but it didn't really feel like I receiving everything that I could have for my sickness. I went in for a sore throat and muscle aches and came out with some extra strength Advil and some throat coat.Could have gotten much stronger pain killers for less on the streets! While the NP was very nice I just felt unsatisfied not to mention still sick as $h!T. If you don't have medical insurance, I suppose it is an ok alternative to paying a doctor ridiculously out of pocket. Next time I will probably just suffer through the pain. MinuteClinic at CVS - Minute Clinic - Urgent Care Near Me - SAN DIEGO, California

Did not receive my lab results from four days ago (they said it should take three days at most). The nurse practitioner asked if she could leave me a voicemail with the results if I didn't answer my phone and I let her know I was fine with that. Fast forward to last night, she left a message but did not provide my results. Called this morning and was told they'd get back to me within 30-60 minutes, but didn't hear from them for another 8 hours and again, left a message with details. Then I called them about 4:30 PST, I received a message they were closed. Nothing about this clinic is in "minutes"-- at this point they should call it "next week clinic", as I will have to wait until next week to get my results. Not acceptable to delay someone's results. read more

While on vacation in San Diego, my husband had chills, a temperature, and body aches. Although we had our vaccines a month ago, we were concerned about COVID. We made an appointment with CVS and were very impressed with the NP Courtney. She ruled out COVID. She discovered my husband had an abcess tooth, but she was very concerned about his other symptoms and recommended an Immediate Care visit. An EKG and a CXR there were both negative. I can't express how grateful I am to have encountered the Nurse Practitioner at this location Lori G. I have had a minor infection that has turned into a larger more complicated problem that I was having trouble getting to the bottom of. In the past 2 months I have had over 8 Dr visits at different specialists and urgent cares. Out of everyone I encountered Lori was the only medical professional who seemed to actually listen to me and try to the best of her ability to find an appropriate treatment for me. Her follow up and communication is outstanding. I wish she had her own practice as I would make her my primary doctor in a heartbeat. She is as professional and caring as it gets. Brought wife in for a sore throat, to see if it was strep. We had already done an at home COVID test administered by a nurse that was a relative. The test was negative. This location steered every question and diagnosis towards being COVID and basically refused to acknowledge or test for anything else. We now have a $100 bill for zero help. I understand COVID is the elephant in the room but medical professionals have a literal duty to diagnosis and help. An oath, if you will. No wait, and the nurse practitioner Caitlyn was absolutely amazing. Got what feels like bronchitis and came in because I don't have insurance. Every 30 seconds I felt a break from this horrible chest cough. I signed up at the kiosk easily and was fourth in line to see someone. Sat and waited about 40 minutes. Went by the cough suppressant isle and went to front of CVS to purchase. When I came back (no announcement) I find that a mom with her crying child which I can sympathize with, had been seen before me and the mom knew I'd been waiting and was there and had seen me walk to the front. She had logged in 10 minutes after I had and had cut in before me. I've been sitting here now an additional 15 minutes and still feel like absolutely dying. The only thing that is making it better is a CVS employee "Dee" who offered me water. She was so kind and friendly. I just came out with the doctor and she got me a "z" pack and cough with codine syrup and some other stuff. She said she called my name...when there's only 3 chairs and 7-8 people in line, use the intercom and perhaps wait a minute next time. I was a little short with her when I first walked in, but quickly got over it so I could get it done and get back to work. Overall not too bad; she was polite and said she'd follow up with me Monday by phone which was nice. $89 for visit which is cheapest I've seen for a walk in, Chrisy the pharmacy tech at CVS was really friendly and had a discount card for me on file. Everything there cost $50. Overall not too bad anymore, just a bad experience getting skipped and the wait. I bumped from a 2 up to a 3 star because of the service. read more

Went into the minute clinic with a terrible sore throat today. First off when I walked in to get my blood pressure there was a nurses personal bag and junk on the place I was supposed to sit and they just moved it to the side and told me to sit in the chair in the corner. The nurse practitioner sped through checking me out so fast pretty sure without the strep test machine she would have just sent me home. She would ask me a question & before I was even finished speaking move on to the next question. I am usually the most relaxed go with the flow person and realize people have their days, but I almost personally asked this woman to take a breath and stop making me feel like I am annoying her Bc her diagnosing me is her job. I asked for a work excuse and instead of her saying yes or no she just keeps looking through her files and not making any eye contact. I explained I just started training at a new job to make conversation as she continues to disregard everything then just putting a stack of paper in my hands super annoyed. I have a medical debit card I pay with Bc I am on my parents insurance so I have a picture of the card. When I asked if she could enter the card number manually she SIGHS and says k we will just bill you then ... she asked what medication I had been taking prior to coming in and as I started to explain she's doing other things on her computer & cuts me off before I'm even done. The regular walk in clinic was great! This review is about their virtual visit. If i could give them a 0 I uld. I made an appt and signed in to my visit. I was on hold for 30 mins and no one ever showed up. I was kicked out of the room 3 times so I hung up and called the help desk. They transferred me to a line that said it was disconnected. I called again and was put on hold. The next thing I hear is a recording saying they were closed and to call back tomorrow. I tried twice more to have a virtual visit with the same results. No one ever showed up. The 3rd time I waited for an hour and no one showed. I tried again today and waited for almost 3 hrs and never saw a Dr. Half the time when I tried to make an appt I got a message saying the site was down. Went for a visit this morning about stomach flu. All went well until my physical examination. Dr. Cherry Deolaso assured me that my abdomen pains were not my appendix because I did not feel any pains on my "right side". I tell her that it's not an issue since I've already gotten my appendix out then showed her my scar on my lower left side. She said "that's strange your scar is there because your appendix is located on the right side" and pointed to my right side. The fact that the doctor doesn't know where the appendix is located on the body is a very worrisome considering the fact if I was actually needed an appendix removal. SOS!! read more

He was kind, caring and professional he took his time with us and just overall it was a great experience. We made an online appointment which made the wait time hardly any at all. Went today for a Tick that was embedded I could see yesterday. I told the guy in the white coat, doctor - NOT. That I noticed the black seed tick and could not get it off with my tweezers and it had scabbed over and dug in already. He seemed very clumsy with handling thermometer - handling the sterile parts with bare hands, and then putting in my mouth while asking me about getting a flu shot.... then put on gloves after. He said, "I scab over well" and dabbed some peroxide on the area that had scabbed over and a band-aide and offered some a prescription. A Joke to say the least, WHERE DID THE TICK GO FROM YESTERDAY, under the scab. That was never removed during my visit. With this kind of service I expect they are flu shot administering techs here and not equipped for anything else. Beware - this one had got out the flip charts books reading about. read more

I decided that after my cold still had not gone away I'd head here for a small checkup. I was referred by a friend instead of waiting in line at the PB urgent care. I was seen by a really sweet nurse practitioner who gave me a brief checkup after taking my insurance (woot). She was hesitant to give me any antibiotics because of the risk of "over-treating" and referred me to some prescription flonase. All good. She even walked the few feet over to the pharmacy and handed my perscription to the pharmacist to make sure they understood that I was getting what she wanted. She promised to call me this week to see if I was getting any better-- don't get that kind of love at the urgent care. The process was overall painless and really fast. It satisfied my trip to the doctor without the hassle of going to the doctor. For minor stuff - I seriously recommend going here. read more

We are visiting SD and my insurance company directed me to use a minute clinic. I chose this one and I'm so pleased that I did. Brought my son here for a sudden fever and sore throat and rash. Caitlin the NP was so nice and professional. She asked all the right questions and did a thorough examination and was able to diagnose him and give us a prescription to get in there at the pharmacy. We had a great experience with NP Lisa today on the 4th of July. My 8 year old came down with a high fever and general malaise while we were in town for the weekend. We got in just in the nick of time before they closed and Lisa was so great. She very heavily suspected strep based on several clues she pointed out to me and the rapid test came back positive too. We got our prescription filled right there within a few minutes and after 1 dose my son is already doing better. Thank goodness they were open today! Just had a really crappy experience. I leave work early to get to the CVS Minute Clinic before it closes at 530pm. I arrive at 5:07pm to find the doctor messing around on her phone. I interrupt her, and she informs me its too late. We have 22 minutes I remind her. Nope, thats just not enough time she responds. Back to her phone. Why is it that most doctors rush through a patient interaction in 10 minutes, but CVS Minute Clinic needs a lot more than that? Weak. read more

While the nurse was amazing, the customer service is aweful. I need a tb test for my teacher license and went to them because they were recommended. They told me to come back in 48 hours and they would be able to check. I came at the time they said. They wouldn't see me. They told me I could get my results at an urgent clinic or my doctors office but my doctors was closed and when I went to the urgent care they specified, I was denied at the door because rhey wouldn't take minute clinics paperwork. I have a cold, I know what I need. Prescription drugs! Feeling bleh I didn't want to wait at PB Clinic although I like PB Urgent Care. I have a simple cold so didn't want to go to my primary doctor either, too much work with making appointments, etc. I walked in, signed into their automated computer system and was put on an automated wait list. Pretty cool. No wait, saw the Nurse Practitioner immediately. He checked all of my vital signs, concluded that I had a virus and gave me a prescription for it. In and out, simple. This is not a doctor and some people may be confusing them for one. If you check their website it says that you are treated by a Nurse Practioner.If you have a cold, or some other basic sickness and already know you're going to need drugs...it's the place to go. Friendly service! Oh, and it's nice that the pharmacy is right next door but darn that 15 minute wait for the drugs...15 minute wait at CVS costs me $50 (shopping while I wait)! read more

If you are desperate, I guess this might be your only option. But, I'd rather call my GP or go to urgent care. 1. NP didn't know the minute clinic systems and complained about her job. 2. Mis-diagnosed me at Cali location, Mis-diagnosed in at Houston location, Finally diagnosed my sinus infection at Cali location (3rd visit in 3 weeks). Both the 2nd and 3rd visits tried to insult the previous medical professional's efforts and one tried to blame my use of Q-tips as the issues (before she even looked in my ear), then had to back peddle that my "ears haven't popped" sensation wasn't ear wax but pressure from my sinuses. 3. The lack of knowing how to use the system resulted in a double billing, which took 3 calls to resolve. Each was over an hour wait time. The 2nd call agent said they were fixing it; though a month later I got a bill saying I was overdue on my payment (though I had paid for the valid billings. The 3rd call was a 63 minute wait time, followed by a message that said I had reached them outside of business hours (Monday 10am PT). 4. I finally resorted for my first time to Twitter and got a response very quickly. Billing issue resolved in short order finally. read more

We were given a referral by a camp director who said they'd had great responses from parents using Minute Clinics for summer camp physicals. We walked in last summer,did not have to wait and were seen by a doctor (we discussed his medical school experience) who was extremely knowledgeable and kind. I would say he was more thorough than our pediatrician in La Jolla and also a fraction of the cost. We're going back again this week for another camp physical and I'm hoping for the same experience. read more

I went home and got a text saying that the NP would be able to see me soon so I came back immediately... Went to this location since I don't have a PCM established yet. The nurse practitioner was a little odd but I felt like I received good care while I was there. I showed up before they opened and was second in line, the wait was about 25 minutes until I was seen. I was in and out of the office in about 15 min though. I definitely recommend going right when they open because I can see how it could easily be an hour wait if you have 2 people in front of you. I will definitely go back until I find a PCM I like. read more

I was very very ill, and not having health insurance decided to visit the Minute Clinic in El Cajon. I arrived and there were a few people in front of me, they wanted a urine sample, which was fine, because I believed I had a UTI. They wanted $160 for the lab tests, which is paid for at a later date. After checking my vitals and talking to me, the Nurse Practitioner told me she couldn't give me antibiotics because she thought it was a kidney infection, and I should go to Urgent Care or the Hospital. So I paid them $79 to be told to go to a Urgent Care of Hospital, which I have no money for anyway. What a scam. Just so you know, the NP said that with a kidney infection you need special antibiotics, which is not true. SO i spend $79 to be lied too. Fortunately a friend came through with antibiotics for me, and 24 hours later I started getting better. I would not recommend using Minute Clinic! I am totally disappointed with them and will never go again. And dont lie to people either. read more
