    flue pipe and inducer motor

I can't say that this is a bad company, but I had a bad experience that I feel should be relayed, to give them an opportunity to improve their service, or at least serve as a warning to others if they don't. They were out to diagnose a heater problem recently, and the technician called to tell me everything that wasn't perfect about the unit. I wrote everything down that he said, including: inducer motor amps were low, the thermostat wire was corroded (really??? it still works, right?), a limit switch was not resetting (how was it running at all then??), there was "biological growth" on the outside of the unit (who cares?), evaporator coil was leaking (don't they all at some point?) and (the topper) that there was a mud dauber nest blocking the flue pipe. I felt that he would rather have me replace the entire unit than just get it back running, and he therefore overstated all the problems and consequences--my BS meter was pegged. I was charged $89, and when I asked if he at least removed the mud dauber nest, he said no, that it was still "growing"! (Mud daubers are active in the summer months and this one had been cooking in there for years.) I easily removed the flue pipe and took it out myself, and still can't understand why this simple problem could not have been taken care of as part of the initial call out. It was not the entire fix, but it would have helped the unit run better in the meantime. Talking to the dispatcher, she said that "labor costs money", so I guess $89 was not enough? He was already on site and looking at the unit for a half hour! How much extra would it have cost to do this, i.e., to keep the customer's needs at the forefront and not just try to run up the bill? The estimate to replace the inducer motor, which is a $74 item on Amazon and is easily accessed from the front of the unit, was $1162!!

This is the channel 4 weather app readout.

The fan on my outside unit stopped blowing and after failing to diagnose the problem myself, I called Nicks. Great customer service upfront and I got the incredible Chris to come out and help. Turns out the contractor failed and Chris, being his amazing self, showed me what was wrong, how he figured it out, and more. I honestly cannot recommend Nicks enough. They're honest, kind, and fast, and will continue to be my AC go-to's.

Important note: This company was bought by Dunrite Heating and Air. Please read their reviews…read morebefore calling this company. Sadly, the owner of Nick's passed away and this company is now owned by Dunrite. I called that company based on the reviews of Nick's Air Services, but their services has definitely NOT been the same as mentioned on this profile. In summary, this company is expensive, can make improper recommendations, and the office is very difficult to get anyone to call you back. I absolutely would not use them again in the future and - had I read their Yelp profile for Dunrite Heating & Cooling - would never have called them in the first place. My experience: My air conditioning due to leaked refrigerant due to another HVAC technician not correct. Nick's/Dunrite came out during the same day and quickly identified the problem. There was a leak on the schrader valve. They got us back to running - for nearly $200/per pound of refrigerant. 5 lbs = about $1,000. Wow, but we had no choice as my original installer was not available. Our unit has not been keeping up with the 90s for the past two months and the technician recommended 3 different options. I chose 2 of the 3 options: a larger return air duct AND repairing the plenum. I was anxious to get the work scheduled and it took me hounding them to get them to schedule the work. Communicating with this office was very painful. I would never get calls back and would just get a text message indicating when they had scheduled the appointment. Their front desk support was exceedingly helpful but not empowered to do anything besides schedule appointments and pass along info. I finally had the appointment and the technician went to the wrong address. I got a call from them saying they had been at my house and then they proceeded to the next job. I spoke to them and learned they were at the wrong house, but could not turn around to go back to my house. I had to wait until the following week to get the appointment rescheduled. What a disaster. It got worse. The work was finally done - the return air duct and the plenum. I waited a couple of days, but there was NO change in the air conditioning. I called them back again and they scheduled another technician to come out. The second technician came out, a more senior technician, who confirmed that the unit was undersized and "working as it was designed" to cool at 75-76. I don't know a single person who is comfortable with 75-76 in the house when the outside is in the 90s. I called customer service again. When I finally got someone, I got a call from William, who is their most senior technician (an older guys in his late-50s probably). He came out with the original technical and instructed him how to properly do a heat load calculation. They determined indeed the unit is undersized and I needed a 3 ton. I called back the customer service asking for a refund to the work. I've called at least 3-4 times, each time speaking with a very nice person. However, I've still not been called back. What a disaster. I've finally had to resort to filing a complaint with my credit card and disputing it through them. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to have to do this, but - when no one will call you back - it's very very hard to trust this company to make things right.

If you'd like it shorter, formatted as a Google review, or written in a different tone, I can revise it. Revised Version I would recommend Sunny Services to anyone looking for a company that truly strives to provide every customer with quality service, attention to detail, and professionalism. They take their time, they are thorough, and they make sure no question goes unanswered. I want to give a huge shout-out to everyone I spoke with--from the outstanding customer service representatives to the upper management team. They took the time to understand my situation as a disabled veteran who was exposed to Sarin nerve gas during the Iraq War. Because of that exposure, I now deal with cognitive and speech impairments, PTSD, and other challenges that affect me every minute of the day. I currently need a caregiver for eight hours each day to help me manage daily activities. Because of my cognitive challenges, I know I can be difficult at times. If I can't express what's on my mind right away, I lose my train of thought and become frustrated. This is something I struggle with daily. I want to sincerely apologize to the customer service representatives--who are the first point of contact and such an important part of the company--if I came across as unprofessional at any time. It was never intentional. Having worked in the insurance industry for most of my career, I understand how critical that first impression is. I always trained my own employees to greet patients with a smile, offer water or coffee, and make them feel welcome. Sunny Services does exactly that in their own way. Their team makes you feel cared for from the very first moment, always asking, "What can I do to make your day better?"--and they mean it. I have also been extremely impressed with their HVAC service work. I first used them when they offered a Home Depot promotion over the summer. I expected a quick job, but instead they took their time, performed a thorough diagnostic, and explained everything clearly. My father--who lives two hours away--happened to be visiting that day. He was amazed by their professionalism and the level of detail they provided. He had almost no questions because Sunny Services had already explained everything so well. I want to thank the entire Sunny Services team for their patience, professionalism, and kindness. I know I can be hard to work with at times due to my disabilities, and I truly appreciate how understanding you all were. Every day is a challenge for me, and I often feel frustrated that I'm not the same man I once was after serving my country--but your compassion meant more to me than you may realize. So thank you--each and every one of you. You made my day better even when I fear I may have made yours harder. Sunny Services deserves five stars for quality, professionalism, attention to detail, and outstanding customer care. From the customer service team to the technicians to the management team--you are the backbone of the company, and you are the reason I will continue to recommend Sunny Services to anyone in the DFW area. They offer the best prices around the DFW area you can never be anywhere you go anywhere that I've called in the past, but they beat depressed hands down in the quality of care and all the above that I have explained you will not go wrong with Sunny services so I highly recommend Sunny services over numerous companies. I've used throughout the years. You just can't go wrong. Thank you again for everything. -- A grateful veteran

To Rescue Air's credit, they had been warning us each time they came out for HVAC Filter rotations. Thankfully, Rescue Air's ace plumbing expert Mr. Phillip Blystone was dispatched to my home to assess the situation. Within minutes he identified the issue and immediately started to work out a plan and arrangement my family could manage to cover the expense of the Water Heater replacement: the source of the leaking problem. Rescue Air has a very long history of working with my family since we've been in this home (2016), so that level of service is a given these days. But that's not the complete reason for the 5-Star rating. The next day, now with a working heater, my wife and I discovered that a leak was still present in the Garage. Upon calling Rescue Air to let them know what was going on, Mr. Blystone responded swiftly to our location to triage the leak. Using both his advanced equipment and intuition, he found that in spite of the solid repair and replace he and his team performed of the water heater, a leak was sadly missed during the initial assessment. Most other business would likely have tacked on a "not-our-problem" sort of response to this. However, Mr. Blystone and by extension Rescue Air are not your normal type of company. With careful consideration of the economic circumstance of the recent repair & purchase, balancing years of customer loyalty and being a genuinely saint, Mr. Blystone proceeded to isolate and resolve the leak (a small puncture hole in the T-pipe hot-water line leading from the heater) pro-gratis. Completely unexpected, but definitely much appreciated! It goes without saying it would be extremely foolish for my family to consider doing business with anyone else in the Dallas Metro given Rescue Air's track record with our family. The value lost would be far too great. While I hope to not need their services as often as recently, I definitely look forward to working with them and Mr. Blystone should the need arise again.

They claimed safety issues, pushed contracts in front of me, and scheduled installation for the next day. I tried to cancel but was told I was locked in. I ended up spending around $30,000. After the installation, every maintenance visit came with aggressive attempts to sell me more services I did not need. Then the new system failed in 106 degree heat. The compressor failed at only 16 months old. Communication was poor, and I was left without AC for about seven days. I had to repeatedly chase them for updates. They did not have the part, did not follow up, and someone finally arrived at 10:30 PM after days of waiting. They gave me a two year complimentary membership as compensation. I assumed the membership would end after the two free years. My card on file had expired, yet in May and June 2026 the company suddenly began charging me again. This suggests someone manually updated my card information without my permission. I never authorized a renewal, never received a renewal notice, and never received invoices for any charges. They refunded the charges I caught, but then claimed I owed $95.80 for four months of fees that were never billed and never agreed to. I asked for written confirmation of a zero balance and never received a direct response. They only responded to the BBB and stated the account was at zero. Based on my experience with both service and billing, I strongly recommend being cautious before using this company.
