My two A/C units went out within days of each other. I have American Home Shield and their inept contractor said that the compressor was out on both units and AHS would not cover part of the repairs as "the units would have to be brought up to code". Meanwhile we suffered through 98 degree Texas summer days. Finally decided to give up on AHS and take matters into my own hands. Minuteman had sent a flyer in the mail with coupons and I gave them a call to see if they can repair the system. Their tech Alberto came out right away and told me that it was the compressor and that they could fix it but I was looking at 6-7k per unit and since one unit was 25 years old and the other was 12 he recommended a replacement as being the better way to go to ensure reliability and energy efficiency with a new unit. I agreed since I didn't want to pour money into repairing units that were near the end of their lifespan. The price was higher than my budget but then again I decided on a 17 SEER system to ensure energy efficiency to go with my solar panels. Minuteman came out the next business and within eight hours had both systems up and the house cooling down. They arrived on time, were very efficient, courteous, and did a great job. I highly recommend Alberto as he took his time explaining everything and did not pressure me into making the decision to replace the system instead explained the pros and cons and let me decide. So apparently ants, love, electricity. So on our AC unit the ants got up into the contact and burned it up. I was upset and confused about my AC unit. I had been informed by another company that my unit was not installed correctly and was clogged. With much distress, I talked with Roger of Ben Franklin. He immediately sent Craig and Sergio to my house. They listened to the rhetoric that the other serviceman filled my head with. They surveyed the site and attic. They brought the AC pipes up to inspection standards. They answered all my questions and calmed my fears. They instructed me on how to maintain my unit. I was very pleased with both of them. I'm sorry it took so long to get to this review, but I wanted to wait until the 6-month checkup was complete. Our AC unit died on a 98-deg. day in May. After going through our home warranty company, we spent 2 weeks without air because of the horrible HVAC contractor they assigned to us. I had seen a Minuteman ad on a local billboard, so I decided to give them a try. They came that afternoon in horrible weather to find that my compressor had shorted. We went over my options in detail. Because of the new regulations, we decided on a new system. When I asked how long it would take, they said they could install a new system the next day! The minute they showed up at the door, you could they had their act together. They lined the floor path to the unit with protective cloth, and wore shoe covers any time they entered the house. They had to cut a hole in the ceiling to remove the old unit and install a larger air return, that was done perfectly. They kept us posted on their progress throughout the day. Every member of the crew was courteous and professional in any dealings with us. They explained every detail about the system and answered all of our questions. Long story short, we had our AC back, in a single day. On Nov. 26th, Chris shows up for the 6-month checkup. He had the same the same professional and courteous demeanor as the original crew. In addition to the required service, he took the time to review the system features, and answer all of our questions. We recommended them to our neighbor for an HVAC problem, and he had the same experience. We have a 'state of the art' system that uses half of the energy of our old system, and they were able to stay within our budget. I would recommend them to anyone with HVAC needs. read more

I can't say that this is a bad company, but I had a bad experience that I feel should be relayed, to give them an opportunity to improve their service, or at least serve as a warning to others if they don't. They were out to diagnose a heater problem recently, and the technician called to tell me everything that wasn't perfect about the unit. I wrote everything down that he said, including: inducer motor amps were low, the thermostat wire was corroded (really??? it still works, right?), a limit switch was not resetting (how was it running at all then??), there was "biological growth" on the outside of the unit (who cares?), evaporator coil was leaking (don't they all at some point?) and (the topper) that there was a mud dauber nest blocking the flue pipe. I felt that he would rather have me replace the entire unit than just get it back running, and he therefore overstated all the problems and consequences--my BS meter was pegged. I was charged $89, and when I asked if he at least removed the mud dauber nest, he said no, that it was still "growing"! (Mud daubers are active in the summer months and this one had been cooking in there for years.) I easily removed the flue pipe and took it out myself, and still can't understand why this simple problem could not have been taken care of as part of the initial call out. It was not the entire fix, but it would have helped the unit run better in the meantime. Talking to the dispatcher, she said that "labor costs money", so I guess $89 was not enough? He was already on site and looking at the unit for a half hour! How much extra would it have cost to do this, i.e., to keep the customer's needs at the forefront and not just try to run up the bill? The estimate to replace the inducer motor, which is a $74 item on Amazon and is easily accessed from the front of the unit, was $1162!! read more

I don't get the bad reviews, that was not my experience with them at all. I called them under very bad experience I got from another HVAC company that advertises they will fix it in a flash!! I had just spent tons off $$$ on an old worn out system that I was promised was fixed with all the repairs they made and when my system finally died without being able to be repaired not even 10 months ago. Minuteman was there to help me with a new system that day, helped me with financing, and got it installed next day. Been. With them 5 years now and never once been disappointed. Thank you Minuteman- so take from a real customer - not these fake reviews and give them a chance I did and I will never trust another Hvac company but Minuteman- same Tech is still there 5 years later. read more

We had to have a new hvac system installed. 05/22 We bought a Daikin system. We also had a duct cleaning performed, an air scrubber installed, & a new damper system put in. We also signed up for the quarterly service. The second summer, a little over a year of having the new system, it stopped working. 06/23 During quarterly maintenance, tech informs us of poor air quality and attempts to sell us a duct cleaning. Chad comes out and looks at it and says the tech had faulty equipment. 08/23 The discharge thermistors were faulty, the fuses tested weak, and the compressor was bad. They replaced them all under warranty. It took around two weeks. They provided 2 window units for our 2800 sq ft home. 09/23 The primary line backed up and leaked water in the house. 06/24 Upstairs was not cooling, tech came out and the damper needs replaced, charged $89.00 service fee. 06/25 I spoke with the service manager Chad and he informed me that the part and labor are under warranty. The damper was replaced that day. Chad told me that they won't refund my service fee because they charge the fee every time they come out for any reason. I informed him that is not what they say when you make an appointment. When a customer calls to make an appointment, the disclaimer is that if it is NOT under warranty then you pay the service fee. Chad said he has never heard of that and he will have to look into it. I still have not heard back from Chad. Chad also informed me that when we purchased the new Daikin system that the dampers installed were not Daikin dampers but Honeywells. That distinction was never made to us nor is the distinction made on the invoice. The techs that come out have all been very polite, respectful, and efficient. Besides the one that attempted to upsell us on a duct cleaning we just had done. Something has gone wrong every year we have had the new system. I still have not received a refund of the service fee. read more

I had 2 new a/c units installed in a duplex last year. We have had nothing but problems with them not working. The techs that come out "fix" the drain pipe connected to the inside unit and then blow out the line. Things work for a day, or maybe a month or 2, but then we have to call for service because the unit fails again. Some arrogant jerk at the main office told me today that the problem was not with their installed drain pipe, but rather, was because of my old, old pipe that it is attached to inside the wall. Well, the duplex is just 12 years old - so the wall pipe can't be that "ancient", and if the wall pipes were the issue, why are the techs working on the drain pipe attached to the fixture when they come out (i.e., one time they extended it, today they cut 1-1/2" off)? I thought I was saving a few hundred dollars by using Minuteman Heating and A/C for replacement of the units, but you really do get what you pay for. read more

This is about the way the owner and Craig Wood treated us. I do not enjoy giving bad reviews, but the public needs to know about this. They refused to repair our AC, bc they were tired of repairing it. You see they came out once a week to repair our ac all summer long. The brand new unit would only work for about a week then it would stop cooling. Craig and the owner justified the refusal to repair our AC because he was tired of repairing it. Craig Wood called me and chewed me out for complaining about the AC's poor performance. Then, in a rebuttal to my bad review on Google, the owner had the nerve to tell me he was glad we were "chilling" and he also claimed my mom was happy with the AC but I was refusing to be pleased. She was NOT happy. She directed me to be the heavy for her as it upsets her to deal with them. Minuteman's effort was Herculian to say the least, but that does not justify a rough treatment by them or a poor AC performance. I don't call an inside temp of 87 deg with an outside temp in the 90s, AT NIGHT, satisfactory. We had a legitimate complaint and the owner and Craig chose to disregard the fact it didn't perform. They charged 16 thousand dollars, then refused to help us when our AC would not cool. Finally, in late August, a Minuteman technician graciously offered to fix our unit on his own time. He changed our thermostat to a different brand and the AC works fine now. Thanks to him we finally got our AC fixed. He also told us not to call anyone at Minuteman for AC service. He said to call him and gave us his number. THANK YOU!!!! But I worry. Due to the way we were treated by the owner and Craig Wood, I fear we will not have any support if the AC breaks again if the technician leaves Minuteman. We will be out of luck even tho we have a 3 yr warranty. read more

Getting quotes to replace 2 side by side units, these people wanted to charge me $19,000.00! Let's do the math... 3ton unit cost- $2,800.00, 2ton unit cost $2,500.00. These are wholesale prices, preferred dealers, which THEY are, get even lower pricing! But let's take the high number, so that's $5,300.00 for two complete units and equipment. That's inside, outside, heaters, whips, thermostats..EVERYTHING. By the way, there are several places where you can get actual dealers costs! Just ask the Google. I'm glad I looked it up. So that means THESE people wanted to charge me $13,700.00 for labor!!!! Are you kidding me! Let's see.... two man, no lets make it a 3 man crew at 6hr..no let's double it to 12hrs. Which is WAY more time than needed. So, 13.7k divided by 3 by 3 people, divided by 12 = $380.55hr! These people are out of their minds! The actual time for a job like this is for even a 2 man crew is less than 6hrs. After giving every benefit they missed the mark of an honest company in my book. They will obviously not get my business. In all fairness, they weren't the only ones overcharging,however, they were the highest BY A LONG SHOT! When I addressed this outright attempt at thievery, the salesman says, but we throw in a service contract for 10years and warrant our work for 3years! Ok, 10 years just happens to be the manufacturers warranty and what company makes you pay to warrant their work? On top of that, with a new unit, if properly installed, should last 10 to 15 years easy with season maintenance. So let's see... seasonal maintenance is $30 to $50. Let's take the higher of the two. That's $100 a year X 10 years. $1000.00. That's STILL over 12 thousand dollars for labor! That's just highway robbery! LOOK, Do your homework and find out the actual cost before forking over a ton of money! And I am a no finace customer so this was their so-called "BEST" price. The average 2019 cost for installation of a 4ton 16seer unit in Texas is $5,800.00! If ANY company wants to charge much more than average, do yourself a HUGE favor and find another company! We continue to get nothing but issues. We were recommended to get a new unit installed because our was older and may not last as long. I regretted the decision ever since. On the first day of installation they had to come immediately back bc it stopped working. Ac was working fine and it was summer, winter comes and the heating worked they come out again. the first tune up they discovered leak. They were going to look at the warranty and did a recharge to fix it temporarily. We never got a call back. It stopped working they come out wanting to charge us for it but it was shown to installer error that caused the unit to go bad. The tech was very nice and understood how frustrating the situation has been for us. They replaced it. 6 months down the road and something else stops working. We schedule an appointment. They confirmed with 2 phone, a text message and and email. After the appointment time, we call the office only to be told it was schedule for A DIFFERENT DAY! read more

When the AC went out in the late evening, the guys were ready to take action. They showed up and got to work, finding out I needed a new system, a salesman was available after 9pm to help us with options. With no pressure they helped choose a system that was best for my home. It was a little pricy and it is the only negative about the way they operate. They were not going to be able to fit me into the schedule for two days but, the next morning the delivered window units to help keep us comfortable. The Install was fast and well done. read more
