Like the other major drugstore in town, this location offers a full-time pharmacist and a drive through. The pharmacy staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a very large selection of beauty and other care products, including over the counter medications. The non-pharmacy section inside is also fantastic. They offer all kinds of beverages, foods, snacks, candy, and non-food items like greeting cards, paper products, and small gifts. I wish it had more of a flower selection for their live flowers. The customer service here is above average as they are quite friendly and helpful. It's a bummer that this place isn't open 24/7, but oh well. I like the fact that they call and/or (sometimes both) when my prescriptions are filled, which saves me time from calling them or driving there when they aren't ready yet. The pharmacist is always available to answer your prescription questions and has even researched something for me and called me back so he was more thorough with his answers for me. They have a nice little gift shop inside as well as many often used Meds like Advil, cold meds etc as well as some hard to find small medical supply items. I have switched all of my prescriptions from large chain stores to Pleasant Hill Drug. The only down side is they are closed on Sunday's and don't have the extended hours the chain stores do.

They do answer the phones, answer your questions and will actually work to get your prescription fille, ie talking to your insurance company and your doctor. Other locations won't even try most of the time. Only down side is they don't take outside prescriptions from doctors not in their system. for the most part they always have my medication in stock and when not it's ordered and available within a day or two. They are even willing to find other Walgreens if there is a medication they don't have and need right away. Other Walgreens won't take the time to do that. Also it's nice that they have more than one person to help you which the most other stores don't.

I was hoping for whipped cream, but it wasn't offered. The soda was good. The hotdog was common. It isn't like Clintons Soda Fountain in Independence which is really good and uses toppings and fruit. It has a counter the length of the building and some tables. The vibe was definitely the old school fountain, neon, oldies in the radio, fizzes, ice cream, etc. There menu is very limited for food. Hot dogs, tuna salad, egg salad, grilled cheese, and chili. They have a grill but when they reopened the health department said they needed a new hood limiting the options. I had a inbetweenie weenie, Frito pie with a hot dog, and a chocolate shake. The hot dog was ok. Nothing fabulous, not bad. A little bland and no heat in the chili. The chocolate shake was good, but not wow. Service was very friendly although some comments made me uncomfortable and responding with a nod and smile seemed best. My bill was $11.11. not ridiculous, but sure seemed high for what I had. I don't think I'll eat there again. Maybe go with a group to enjoy the fountain experience. They close at 4. Later hours could really help the I've cream side of the business.
