My personal experience with Mirage Custom Pools has been, without question, the single worst consumer experience of my life. It has now been over 8 months (245 days to be exact) since they broke ground, with which we are still not completed, and every single day has been consumed by frustration & a complete lack of communication as a direct result of broad incompetence from every level of the company. Our biggest complaint is that Mirage installed our pool deck completely wrong. Instead of our contractually agreed upon decking we now have a style we did not choose with painting over it given as the only solution. I cannot stress enough that our family will not have the pool we wanted, agreed to or paid for as a direct result of Mirage's mistakes. We have failed many inspections up to this point. Failed 3 inspections in a row for not being able to post the worksite documentation after repeated requests to have it posted. We have also failed multiple electrical inspections which, I have no doubt, will cause us problems in the future. To summarize, beyond the egregious craftsmanship from Mirage, you can expect next to zero communication about any step of your pool build or completion dates with texts, emails & phone calls being ignored at all levels. More importantly, incompetence and carelessness will be rampant throughout your build that will lead to avoidable and unnecessary delays, or even worse, a complete disaster like ours where you will be stuck with whatever kind of pool they give you regardless of contractual requirements and agreements. read more

7 months in and we're still struggling with getting simple answers. Thankfully gunite was applied this weekend but only after starting a calling campaign with our HOA and our builder who made the initial recommendation. Now I only get rapid responses when they are looking for another payment. We have a project manager (our third so far) who seems to be much better but that cycle only lasts a couple weeks and then communication stops until a new PM is assigned...and then we year "this time everything will get better". I plan to update this post if we eventually finish. The HOA will start fining us soon if the project is not completed in nine months. While I sympathize with builders during COVID, there were 3 complete homes built in the same time it took my pool to reach gunite. read more

The only reason I am giving this two stars is because the pool does look good now that it is finally finished and I was happy that our project manager, Mason, tried his best to fix all issues and get the job completed, but he inherited a mess and was fighting an uphill battle. That is where the positive ends. If I had it to do all over again, I would have voided our contract and gone with another company after our salesperson failed to show up for a second meeting, due to the fact that he slept through them both times. We tried really hard to make sure this project was seamless and organized and went off on time without any pricing surprises or material delays. Before signing the final materials list and contract We asked to meet with subcontractors because there were a lot of moving parts in this project and we wanted to make sure we had accurate pricing so we knew what our budget was and the original salesperson scheduled these meetings, revised our materials list and pricing and told us that all items are quoted and accounted for in our budget. I have worked in commercial real estate before and was trying to avoid any delays so I asked to not break ground until it was confirmed that all our materials were in stock and we were ready to proceed. I was even willing to have them stored in my yard. I myself checked with the paver and coping supplier and told Mirage that our pavers and coping had a three-week lead time. I was assured by our salesperson at the time we broke ground that everything was ready to go only to later find out no one from Mirage bothered to place the order and they went ahead and broke ground to only tell us that we were then delayed because of the three week lead time that we had already told them about. It was at this point we asked for the salesperson to be removed from our project and to have a meeting with the owner, Tom, and the project manager, Mason. In this meeting, Tom assured us he was going to go through our contract that week and make sure we were good to go on every item. This never happened because when we got to certain parts of the job Tom kept telling us he did not see it in the budget...... Yes, the same budget for which we had met with all the subs and gotten all accurate pricing and materials listed and it was at this point, halfway through the project, that we were notified that our salesperson did not in fact get quotes he simply made up numbers. It was now obvious that Tom had not gone through our contract as he said he would. I had a signed contract and materials list that said these items were included and we had emails and text messages from the salesperson saying that we were good to go and he had gotten quotes and accounted for everything and yet Mirage refused to honor those items. There were many times throughout this project that it was obvious that Mirage did not even have the correct copy of the contract that they wrote and signed. I had to continuously send them what was in the contract that they made and I was continuously correcting them on things. An 8-10 week project took 6 months and they did not even complete all the items from the scope as I hired my own contractors to complete some of the tasks. My advice is to find another company or if you go with this one make sure they sign something saying that all prices are accurate for each item and you will only be charged for changes made via change orders. read more

We are fourteen months into the project and still not finished. After a year of issues that each added multiple months to the project. they would not plaster the pool until final payment was made. I made the payment two months ago and I am still filling the pool with my garden hose two months later. Oh, did I mention I bought the auto pool filler? It is there but the electric wires are wrapped around the controller and it not connected to a water source. There are other issues but why re-hash all of them. This is a sales organization. Pete was great but downhill one you sign the contract. They sub all the work and no oversight. You pay for a project foreman but you don't get one and the final results are your fault. We had signed up for our pool prior to the pandemic. I would not use them ever! They were a referral, and for the most part got completed in 8 months...but it has been over a year and we still don't have our deck jets installed that I paid for over a year ago. I have reached out no less than 40 times over this period to get their plumbers back out here to reset the jets. This company is SO hard to actually contact or get a response from. Our experience with Mirage has been horrific. We signed the contract in August 2020. At that time, we were told it would be complete by the end of 2020. They didn't start construction until early November. We have repeatedly had issues with quality of workmanship, honest communication, and timing to have it complete. Through the process, we also received a certified letter from the excavation subcontractor with a threat of lien on our property due to lack of payment. We are still waiting to have multiple items damaged during construction corrected, pavers cleaned, and sod installed. We've had 4 project managers. I have been in contact with so many people, including David Hauk, the owner of this company with no resolution provided. I have literally begged for them to finish the job that we've already paid to have completed. I don't know what else to do. I've contacted an attorney and believe we have a case to support misrepresentation and breach of contract which I am pursuing. read more

We just completed our pool with Mirage and couldn't be happier. Our salesman was Jeff and he was incredibly patient, creative, and responsive. Admittedly, we are not the easiest couple to please - with differing likes and ideas - but Jeff made it work. Everything was crystal clear from the beginning - from the initial contract until the pool was full of water. Their motto the entire process was "we just want to make you happy". Another great thing about this company is they don't have a big fancy showroom on the tollway or other major highway and pass this overhead along to you.... yet their product and professionalism is right up there with the big guys. I'd recommend getting a quote and at least seeing what they have to offer before signing on the dotted line with anyone else. We are so glad we did. read more

Just read all the other reviews. It says it all. I met with the Owner, Tom Hauk who said he would have someone come out to look at my uneven plaster. NEVER SHOWED UP. This was first noted two years ago but they still have not addressed my concerns. We had a front overflow pipe in the flower bed was not aligned. Tom made the racist comment that he "was not brown enough to fix it himself" and he would send someone out to do it. Little did he know my wife is Hispanic. NEVER SHOWED UP. We have tile around our hot tub that is coming up because of shoddy workmanship. This company has been awful to work with. I have made several calls to no avail because their phone lines go straight to voicemail. THEY ARE SHADY and I would recommend anyone looking to build a pool take your business to someone that appreciates the customer. Mirage and Hauk Pools are one in the same. They have a terrible reputation in our HUGE master planned community that will not deal with them because of the numerous Facebook complaints. Whatever you do, do not use Mirage Custom Pools. They are complete scam artist and don't care about anything but your money. Jeff the owner never came to check on our pool once. We paid our first check in Feb 2021 and it is now 11 mths later and still the pool is not done. We decided not to do the kitchen since it is taking so long and he will not give me back my money for that part stating he had to get permits (which he did not - he got a permit for the fire pit) and that he ran electrical, which he did not and didn't agree until I had to facetime to show him. He is a complete liar. We will now have to take him to court for breach of contract. Trust me --- RUN! read more

DO NOT HIRE THESE CLOWNS. Almost 90K and 6 months and would you believe their subs couldn't install the final slide and plumbing correctly. On top of that, one of the owner's sons had the nerve to say it is accurate. Not one person from their organization has been out to check the inferior quality and incorrect placement of this final aspect. NOT ONE. The slide is NOT installed according to the plans and drawings and the water for the slide is about 4 ft away from it. Anyone with eyes can see it. They installed it when no one was home to stop the incorrect installation. They rarely -if ever- contacted us with scheduling as we were told. Sub-contractors showed up on days not scheduled and failed to show when scheduled. The entire project has been delay, delay, delay and now this. It's going to cost us more to have it fixed by another company and then whatever additional steps we need to take to be made whole to follow. If you're smart, don't hire them. DO NOT HIRE THEM. DO NOT USE OR SIGN A CONTRACT WITH MIRAGE CUSTOM POOLS!!! Our pool broke ground on 12/3/2019 (yes 8 months ago) and we are still waiting for them to resolve issues with it. Still haven't even passed the final inspection with the city. It wasn't even swimmable until May 4th --26 weeks AFTER we started. Our sales person was fantastic but that is where the good service began and ended. The project manager was disorganized and seemed to have zero clue on how to communicate or schedule the subs. The superintendent provided zero oversight for the workers or the flow of our build. He was also combative and rude when he got sick of us questioning why things were not moving forward. If they try to say it was us, I have texts AND emails that I am happy to publish publicly to support my position. Their lack of control of the subs resulted in tons of delays and frequent mistakes some of which cannot be fixed and others we are still waiting to resolve. We failed our final pool inspection 4 times. Failed 3 others before that, including failing electrical twice - both could have resulted in a catastrophic loss of our property- due to their lack of work ethic. The pool I designed is beautiful but absolutely no attention to detail. We had to end up managing the project ourselves to the extent that ALL of the subs gave us their phone numbers so we could work with them directly. I have never seen such a poorly run business from a company that claims to have so many years of experience. Of course now we have given them 100% of what they were due but still our job remains incomplete. I have sent numerous emails to the owners and not once have they tried to reach out to us to resolve things. At this point we are seeking assistance from legal council and we advise anyone considering them to not do it! If you already signed a contract find a way to get out of it. There are too many pool builders in this area to deal with unprofessional and subpar work. If anyone is interested in seeing my evidence comment your email and I am happy to share it. 1 Star Horrible experience. They are really just a sales organization that contracts out all the work. Very little co-ordination between contractors. Communication was almost non existent, and execution was poor. The Pool itself is not something we are excited about. Many flaws and mistakes that are either painful to fix,or experimental at best. The folks who run this company are very nice, but that masks how untrustworthy they really are. Stay away from this company. This entire pool building process has been very frustrating. I have caught Mirage Pools in several lies and when I did they acted like that was what they were going to do all along. They tried to cap my existing patio without reinforcing it. I told them that was not satisfactory. They told me they do it all the time. The city inspector came out an sure enough it failed inspection. They told me they misunderstood what I was telling them. The guy came out for pool school. He couldn't get an internet connection so he told me it was pretty easy to figure out and I would be able to do it. The biggest issue came towards the end of the pool build. Mirage Custom Pools demanded final payment of the pool before they would plaster it. They told me they were sending someone over to collect payment and if I did not pay they would cancel plaster. I paid the man when he came over. I wish they had paid as much attention to the pool as they did to getting paid. The next day the plasterers came. When they finished they had left a large hole for a light that was not supposed to be there. The pool had already been filled with water. I contacted Mirage and they told me they had screwed up. At first they told me they would patch it. I told them it was a brand new pool and they would not be patching anything. Finally we agreed they would drain the pool and replaster the entire pool. They said they would reimburse me for the refilling of the pool and get the chemicals back in balance. They replastered and refilled the pool. The guy then dumped a bunch of salt in the pool and I never saw him again. I submitted my water bill and after 6weeks I recieved a check for half the amount I was asking for. I have spent a small fortune in chemicals trying to get the PH balanced. I finally have paid for a pool guy to come out and help. I have spoken with the owner and he has told me he has been more than fair. This company is way more interested in getting paid than they are taking care of their customers. read more

Mirage Custom Pools (MCP) signed a contract to build a pool for me to begin at the end of June, 2014. 3 days before they were supposed to start excavating, they told me they wanted another $1400 over the agreed upon contract amount. My house was a brand new build and for some reason no one from the company could read a plot plan or ask about how much room they were going to have to get equipment through a side of my property. What a joke they are!!! They also could not tell me when they were going to begin (they told me in an email 2 weeks prior confirming the start date of June June 30) or end date even though they knew I had a 2 month window to get the pool completed. Owner came out to tell me on top of what I already mentioned that there might be more hidden costs that could arise after they started digging. I asked him why did we sign a contract that both parties agreed upon? We mutually agreed not to move forward based on what the owner had told me face to face. They are holding over $2000 in deposits and permit money for almost a month now and have not sent it back to me, now claiming their are fees associated with returning pool products and their are "restocking" and "administrative" fees that they must now deduct but so far they have not told me if they are returning any money. Stay away from this company as they probably low ball a bid and a few days before the start, surprise home owners telling them that you now have to pay more money to start and leaving little time to track down good honest pool building companies. read more
