I initially spotted Miro's Chicago sculpture while cycling towards DuSable Harbor one early morning. I thought that it looked very beautiful with the lighting flashing on it, which prompted me to get a closer look at it. I was intrigued by the colors on it as well as the fork on top of it which brought curiosity to look more into the meaning of it on a later date. Miro's Chicago, originally called the Sun, the moon and One Star was unveiled on April 20, 1981 by Chicago's first female mayor, Jane Byrne. Its shape and pose is reminiscent of the famous Minoan snake goddess figurine from Crete. As for its location it sits right across from Daley Plaza across from the Picasso, which is not hard to find. Also, near Miro's Chicago sits a memoriam in dedication to 6 individuals who lost their lives due to a fire started in a supply room on the 12th floor of the Cook County Administrative Building. Wow what a fork this is! We use forks every single day but we never take time to think about forks. I am glad we made a statue in honor of forks and i wake up every single day and look out my apartment window to see that fork. It is not the knock off spork. It is a beautiful fork. Great to eat with cooked pork. But overall great for all ages. And its free to look at and will honestly change your life It would be nice if they put a meatball on top.

Inlaid mosaics on the female statue's dress and body!

We started our Chicago adventures by visiting the sky deck and Willis Tower. We had a great time…read morelearning about the history of Chicago. We purchased city pass tickets since we were visiting for a couple of days and chose the sky deck as one of our activities. They recommend making a reservation through the app so you can book the time you'd like to visit. Once we were in we went through the experience where we got to see exhibits and take fun pictures throughout. From there we took the elevator to the 103 floor to see the sky deck. The views of the city are super beautiful and of course we have to get our fun photos from the ledge!

The overall experience and the downstairs museum detailing the city's history (with its great…read moredisplays and model train) are wonderful. However, the operations leave a lot to be desired. While a 90-second time limit makes sense on a packed day, on a slow day with only 10-20 people in line and 4 decks available, they should easily extend it. Instead, they cram multiple groups into one deck--forcing our party of four adults to share tight space with two strangers--and strictly require everyone to enter simultaneously. By the time you get settled and overcome any nerves, your 90 seconds are already up. We would have rated our experience much higher, but an employee soured the end of our visit. When we politely asked him to take a photo, he rudely and repeatedly barked that he would only do so if we left immediately afterward, even though we had timed our visit and were barely over the limit. Great attraction, but better customer service and flexibility are desperately needed.
