Last year Tom stated in front of my husband " where did you buy that sticker from" which was very insulting & humiliating. As upset as I was I told him no sir, my doctor filled out my medical form. Thank you... he remained quiet and he did my inspection in 2023 Caution he will judge you, based on color, race, gender and disability....I called back to advise I spoke with DMV IN Albany, I provided my cell phone and he NEVER called back yet claims customer satisfaction is his priority? Yea ok, you turned me away it's all recorded and on my car dash cam as well! BUT.... 2024, This year he denied services to me, to inspect my vehicle. I even contacted NYS DMV and they said this location was not to refuse service if they have an inspection license. Well they did, I tried reaching out again and they did not call me back so now I am blasting them and reporting them. I even filed a complaint with DMV, form VS 35. **let me reply to his comment on another review I did in which he replied: MY dash camera which I have uploaded pictures from, verify my presence at your shop 2/22/24, and me driving away as you refused to inspect my vehicle. You never called me back or left me a voicemail, all lies... cell phone bills don't lie! I even left my number with your rude mechanic who became hostile when I advised I was filing a complaint against your facility w/ DMV which I already did, nor did I say forget it. After you stated you could not do my inspection; as you had to do numbers or had no way to enter numbers regarding my tints, I said forget it because you already refused services and I was not going to keep begging you. As a register DMV inspection site, you were to see my NYs exemption sticker; which you claimed I brought off the streets last year judging me, match it to my plates and proceed to inspect my vehicle. But I will obtain legal counsel as I have been violated from my civil rights from this facility. I didn't pay for my exemption I have a legit medical condition and you are not to judge. It's sad a shop in my local hometown did this and has no knowledge on the NYS tinting laws. I don't give business to places that immediately discriminate I have found a place and will inspect my vehicle. I will make sure your facility is fined. I don't do things illegally, I am by the books. You judged the wrong person & there was NO service provided to me so yes I am un-happy with YOUR refusal to inspect my vehicle. I went to Juan to get a valve cover replacement since he diagnosed the pvc was bad everytime he…read moreopened the motor cap it went away but the car had a whining sound.This would be the third time I get my car service at this shop.I bought all the parts from fcp euro oem valve cover and spark plugs ,coil and a starter.He gave a high quote but I thought WTF the shop is close to me and they stand by their work.The car was there for almost two days.I paid Juan cash,tipped the mechanic and took my car.After driving it for about 30 minutes the same noise was still there.I went back and spoke to Juan and the mechanic and they both looked at me and said "we did everything the way it should be done- probably the pvc came defective".I told him "this is a brand new valve cover not a used one, ok I'll call and get another sent out to me and return this one" He asked me if the company will pay for labor -- WTF.. Basically telling me I would have to pay for the whole job again.When I ask him what he meant he told me his mechanic has to work on the car again which is about 5 Hrs of labor which was the same price $700 not to mention the $1100 he initially charged for the whole job.He was very dismissive and didnt want to stand behind his work or guarantee it .Absolutely absurd! This is not how a business should conduct business. I could of taken it anywhere else for half the price. I had to take it to my mechanic and pay again for the job to be done the right way... these guys at elite are clowns. Guess what my mechanic found out .These Fucktards at ELITE AUTO WORK knew exactly what they did and never told me a thing.The mechanic snap one of the screws in half then tried to take it out with a tap and snap that inside trying to take the screw out and left that inside.He then put silicone around the new valve cover,cut an old screw or put the same one he snapped with silicone.I guess he put silicone just so it would look like it was screwed in.Instead of just taking out the screw and the tap that he broke. This would of never worked with all the pressure inside the valve cover when the car is on.So basically you charge your consumer double for your mechanics incompetence & dishonesty. Known Mel for well over 20 years. Before he passed in 2008, my father was friends with him, and the…read morebody shop he worked at even sponsored his racecar. At my recommendation, many of my law enforcement friends and family used him over the years. So naturally when my son recently had an issue with his truck, a 2004 Silverado, we took it to Mel.... And to our absolute shock we got screwed. Badly. The cost was outrageous and it took forever to what amounted to simply replacing a flywheel. Got it back and subsequently learned that many of my friends and family and their business and families also had recent bad experiences with Mel. Guess he really went down hill. However, a few days after we got the truck back we discovered a leak in the transmission that we didn't have before. We didn't have a leak. To avoid Mel, we decided to first look into it ourselves and with a simple visual observation it was clear that when the flywheel was installed the front seal must have been damaged. Reluctantly we took it back to Mel. Feeling like I disappointed my son by recommending Mel to begin with, I hoped that Mel would be responsible and reasonable as the leak was obviously a result of his work. A front seal is nothing and should have been done when he had it apart. Poor workmanship. Transmission work 101. We left the truck for him to inspect the leak. He had the truck for another three weeks. We waited and got the call and instead of just replacing the $15 seal and accepting that he should have caught that, or even just working with us a little , he said it would be over 4800 to rebuild. A rebuild? It doesn't need that, just a front seal, Mel. I explained that the leak was a result of their initial work and their reply wasn't to deny that fact, but rather to say that the truck was driven 1000 miles since their repair. Obscene. Absolutely obscene. I have since learned of many other ppl who were once friendly with Mel and relied on his work also got screwed. I have the names, Mel. Try me. Mel, you were once a good guy, reputable and honest. You are now nothing more than a crook. DO NOT USE ACADEMY TRANSMISSIONS. Almost 30 years of local law enforcement and I have only seen this type of disgusting behavior from the lowest of the low. Mel and Academy Transmission is absolutely the lowest of the low. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
