I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to dental work and usually require sedation but I was in so much pain from my abscessed tooth I decided to go ahead and have it worked on during my initial consultation. I recently saw Dr. Mischenko for a consultation on a suspected cracked tooth that is located under a bridge of 37 years. I had previously seen several dentists and another endodontist for this problem, but none of them explained to me what was going on except for Dr. Mischenko. Let me preface this review by disclosing that I am a dentist. As a general dentist, I've been referring patients to Dr. Mischenko for the past 5 years. He work is excellent and the patient's always have great feedback. So when I figured out that I needed a root canal (yes, even dentists have dental problems), Dr. mischenko was the first person I called. I was very impressed with the care I received today. I was referred by another doctor for a root canal if I recall. The service was great but when it came to payment, there were extra fees, $85 that I paid for a reason that I still ignore. I recall that she knocked my tooth with an object to test its sensitivity. After that, she briefly explained that I had to pay an extra $230 fees for which I would claim reimbursement from my insurance and it looked like it wasn't sure that I would get reimbursed for that service. I refused to pay that amount and left. A few weeks ago, I received an invoice of $30 extra that I owe for the services performed on that day, which I don't understand. I went to see another Dentist who took time to submit the request for approval to my insurance who approved it. Now I know exactly how much I will need to pay to have a crown instead of paying fees at each corner without knowing when it will end. read more

If you need a root canal, I cannot imagine a better doctor than Dr. Mischenko. I had two root canal procedures by her. She is warm, tender, caring, professional, and efficient. The office is spotless, comfortable and enforces very good hygiene practices (they make patients wash hands before they get in the chair). They provide a warm blanket and nice music if you ask for it -- all very soothing as you wait to get numb, and go through the procedure. Dr. Mischenko did a great job of being very efficient, yet also informed me every step of the way. This was my third root canal, so (unfortunately) I know from root canals. Dr. Mischenko was recommended to me by my regular dentist, and within a few minutes of sitting in her chair I could see why. She's very thorough, very patient in explaining both the x-rays and the implications, and clearly very confident and knowledgeable in what she's doing. There was no pain at all during the procedure. She has a very warm sense of humor and gentle "bedside" manner and did little things that indicated she was very aware of optimizing my comfort and easing my anxiety the entire time, e.g. rubbed vaseline on my lips, took measures to make sure the stress on my jaw would be minimized during the procedure, asked what kind of music I'd like to listen to, etc. She called me the following day to check-in and ask how I was feeling (and it was as if I'd never needed a root canal, the relief was that quick) and her staff was similarly pleasant and professional. Nobody wants to hear they need a root canal, and nobody ever wants to feel that pain...but if you *are* in that position, give Dr. M's office a call and get in to see her ASAP, you won't regret it. read more
