My experience with Dr. Puterman began a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away--before Covid was a word, let alone a plague. After consulting with a number of specialists, the consensus was clear. Dr. Puterman is the best at what he does in the DMV--and my particular case (don't ask) required the best. I confess, I was skeptical. But a little more than half a decade (and several surgeries later (don't ask), I have a functional mouth again. Not only teeth that work but teeth that look great. Best of all, the pain that tormented me for decades is gone. GONE. Obliterated. Throughout this ordeal, Dr. Puterman stuck by me. And I by him and his extraordinary staff and colleagues. Dr. Puterman was always honest. Always fair. Always honorable. Always kind. And always decent. This is not what I would have expected given the intrinsic challenges of my case and the fickle nature of human biology that doesn't always cooperate with titanium and bone grafts. And yet--here I am--finally some five plus years later. Grateful beyond words for my experience with Dr. Puterman. Don't get me wrong. I won't miss being in his chair for scores of additional hours. I'm a grateful patient. And what makes me especially grateful is that we made it--together. If you desire the best that modern dentistry has to offer, there is no one better--more capable, skillful, and honorable. I could not recommend anyone more highly. Puterman is the best. read more

I had a panic attack during an IV sedation appointment with Dr. Puterman. Dr. Puterman was unable to sedate me (which I get, that happens sometimes). However, he didn't stop. He continued to work on me through my panic attack, and never even reached out to my husband who was in the waiting room. I couldn't speak due to the dental dam, bite block and all the instruments in my mouth, so I just lay there, hyperventilating with tears streaming down my face. I was severely traumatized. Weeks later, when I approached Dr. Puterman about the trauma, he dismissed my concerns, gaslighting me by questioning the validity of my experience. He even went on to tell me that his family member's panic attacks did not present in that fashion so I must not have been having one. He called me by the wrong name, patronized me, and completely disregarded my concerns about my very disturbing experience. To make matters worse, he went as far as involving my father (a retired sedation dentist who administered the exam to Dr. Puterman for his IV sedation license) to dispute my account. He tried to get my father to agree that I wasn't having a panic attack and that he didn't do anything wrong (News flash - My dad is well aware of my history and conducted all my dental treatment up until his retirement. He didn't agree). If you seek compassionate care, and especially if you are tough to sedate or have anxiety, I would advise considering alternative dentists who prioritize patient well-being over financial interests. There are many other very accomplished dentists out there who treat the whole person and don't just see dollar signs. read more

I visited Dr. Puterman for a gum grafting consult (to be followed by gum graft). I'll start by saying I've never met such a warm, amiable staff at a doctor's office (Yes, all of them!). It certainly relieved, any stress or concerns I may had about the procedure. The office is meticulous, tidy, modern, bright and cutting edge. Dr. Puterman is professional, skilled and a truly gifted surgeon. What is notable and unique is his combination of surgical skills and his compassion and kindness toward patients and staff. Followup: I selected another Periodontist to do my implants. In order to save the additional expense and exposure to x-rays, I asked the office to call Dr. Puterman and get the x-rays which I had previously paid for. Dr. Puterman's office said they never took x-rays. After another call they acknowledged that they had taken x-rays and they would provide a cd for an additional $25. I refused as I had already paid over $300 initially and wasn't going to pay any more. Very unhappy with this entire experience with Dr. Puterman. read more

Dr. Putermam is an incredible oral surgeon. I was involved in a freak accident that chipped my two front teeth (one which need to be completely removed and replaced). The review is long-overdue! I highly recommend Dr. Puterman. First of all, his office staff are outstanding--thoughtful, accommodating, and kind. They take the time to meet with you to make sure that you fully understand the procedures and any costs involved. Also, I had to cancel two follow-up appointments due to snowy and icy road conditions and they worked with me to accommodate my crazy schedule and work hours. I first saw Dr. Puterman for advice on a root-canal tooth that had cracked and was pulled by my regular dentist, who told me that the tooth was also infected. Dr. Puterman assured me that the tooth was not infected and he provided guidance as to the type of implant that would work best in my situation. I was greatly confused in trying to decide between a zirconium or titanium implant, and extensive internet research was only making the situation worse. Also, I knew that after having the tooth pulled that I did not want to be awake for the implant. Dr. Puterman spent a great deal of time with me during the consultation portion of the visit, listening to all my concerns and addressing all my issues. He is warm and personable and has a great bedside manner. Dr. Puterman's operating facilities and the care they took in preparing me for surgery made me feel confident that I had made the right decision in opting for sedation. I awoke feeling rested and peaceful with a new implant and bone graft, and was escorted to my friend's waiting car in a wheelchair by one of his assistants. They also provided detailed instructions on steps I should take to improve my recovery, and I received a personal call from Dr. Puterman himself to make sure everything was okay. Last but not least, the office is beautiful, it has the latest technology...and a great view if you need to meditate, as I did, to alleviate any unwarranted anxiety. I was referred to Dr. Putterman by my dentist. I had needed an implant for a while but always hesitated because of the surgery. I also needed an existing implant removed and a bone graft. The staff was great in making everything as relaxing as possible and helpful throughout the process. The surgery went great and was way better than I expected (little discomfort and surgery itself was painless ). Dr. Putterman even personally called me the night of my surgery to make sure I was ok (who does that anymore). All the follow up visits went great and I was kept at ease. The whole process was much better than I ever expected. My last implant of the 2 was done just before everything shut down. After it healed , Dr. Putterman came to my dentists office for the follow up, once things opened again to make sure everything was ok. I found Dr. Puterman for a second opinion after not being happy with my original periodontist visit. My case was a little unusual (some severe periodontal pockets and need for wisdom teeth removal as an adult) and I searched through periodontists in the area. After interacting with several, Dr. Puterman's treatment philosophy, personality, and knowledge stood above the rest. He also keeps up with the latest research and is constantly learning more in his field. Consequently, I scheduled my extractions, bone grafts, etc. with Dr. Puterman and couldn't be happier. The visits are top notch from the second you enter the door. In addition, Dr. Puterman has a great bed side manner and communicates with you about the procedures being done and what to expect. And, he is a great surgeon--other dentists/orthodontists were very impressed with the results on other treatment visits. I trust his skills, approach, and long-term guidance and very strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a periodontist or oral surgeon. read more
