When they did arrive, they were courteous and took care of what I needed, the doctors who visited me knew what they were doing, I still see my cancer doctor and yes, the food was good. My sister received care when it was time for medications, but otherwise staff were invisible. Never was she given mouth care or help getting a bath. She ate almost nothing for breakfast on Saturday so I didn't order another meal for her the entire weekend. The Saturday's breakfast tray was left on her counter until Monday morning's nurse came in her room. Nobody kept track of what she drank and nobody seemed to notice that she hadn't eaten all weekend. I would help her turn on the nurses light when she was hurting and needed to be turned. It was common for her to wait 45 minutes to have anyone begrudgingly answer her light. At one point they used a plastic turning sheet under her to move her into position. They let that slick, hot, plastic sheet under her for a full day, ignoring her complaints of how hot and sweaty she felt lying on plastic hour after hour. It was nearly impossible to get any nursing care. No one in leadership made rounds. Of course, no nurse did any type of hourly rounding. PT worked with her once and determined she was too weak to work with them, so nobody even worked to get her to sit up in bed. They knew so little about her that when it was time for her to be transferred to a rehab facility, they ordered a wheelchair van to transport her! The transporter came & suddenly six nursing staff were in her room to transfer her from her dirty bed to the wheelchair. My sister became dizzy and nauseous sitting up for the first time in a week. My guess is that the staff had no idea that her slowness was due to physiological reasons but thought maybe she was being lazy. One young woman screamed in her face to comply. My sister died at the rehab facility a week or so later. I pushed to get her back there because I knew she would get the care she needed and be treated like a human being. It's been two and a half years since she passed. I wish the nightmare she experienced at Menorah would pass from my mind. My only regret is that I felt so out of control with nobody in leadership to help us get her the care she needed. My hope is that nobody else will suffer at the hands of the Menorah nursing staff like she did.

From the very first visit, I was treated not just as a patient, but as a human being. I especially want to recognize Lynn at reception for always being warm and welcoming. The nurses -- Stacey, Mariam, Kristen, Sarah, and Shelley -- are absolutely exceptional. Each of them has shown genuine compassion, patience, and professionalism. They take the time to listen, explain every step, and make sure I feel comfortable and cared for. I have never once felt rushed or dismissed. Dr. Justensen is knowledgeable, attentive, and truly compassionate. The level of empathy and quality of care this team provides goes beyond medical treatment -- they restore confidence, dignity, and hope during a very vulnerable time. Wound care can be physically and emotionally draining, but this team makes you feel safe, supported, and respected every step of the way. I highly recommend KU's Wound Care to anyone needing specialized, compassionate treatment. You will truly be in the best hands.

After rushing to get my appointment and arriving a little late, the check-in person was so warm and friendly that I was not frantic anymore. She was very personable and kind. The radiologist also had a good bedside manner. She completed my test and I was on my way.

Came for a COVID-19 test and can affirm: that swab goes an awful long way down each nostril. Oy…read more But don't worry, I wasn't exposed. Having elective surgery which requires it. I'm careful. Caveat: I'm a long-time admirer of the St. Luke's systems throughout Kansas City and have known a few people over my career who were employed within the system years ago, but have never arrived for any kind of medical need. My limited experience today is in part getting them added to Yelp because I use it a lot for finding my way aorund the city. The experience clearly exceeded my expectations. Pleasantly greeted upon entering by a receptionist who was masked, asked my last name. Told where to stand to wait to be called for my appointment (I was 5 minutes early). In less than 60 seconds I was called. A pleasant and (no surprise) heavily protective garbed worker asked the reason for my test, explained it briefly, performed the necessary work and I was literally in and out of the building in probably less than 3 minutes, and still prior to my scheduled appointment time. Hand sanitizers were easily found upon entry and exit. Yea, *this* is the way this is supposed to work. If you come: easy parking out front. Near as I can tell this facility is brand new and appears dedicated to Emergency service. Clean, well lit, great service on my quick visit, and while I can't say I was surprised, this kind of organization and service is so rare today that it deserves special attention and a presence on Yelp. Job well done, St. Luke's.
