There we are, yet another absolutely brilliant little spot after opening up on Capel St. It's official, north-side is now where it is at. Seriously. Whatever it is, it's there. Mish.Mash has everything you could need to compete with the latest coffee/foodie/tea openings. Everything you need, to include the following: - Coffee that looks great (can't comment on how it tastes, me being a tee-total caffeine) - Extremely tasty food (got myself a tuna, chickpea, onion, feta, basil salad which was genuinely amazing. Jam packed, with this goooorgeous dressing on the side. No idea what it was - some type of garlicy, basily type thing. Also came with three small slices of herb bread, beautifully presented. - Friendly and pleasant staff - Late opening (til 9pm every night) - Super cosy interior with all lovely homemade garlands, furry cushions, soft wood and mood lighting - Cool events like 'Lazy Sunday Sessions', where they bring in a DJ or a chilled band, and you can chill your hangover away with food and alcohol free refreshments. I have it on good regard that they make a selection of amazing cakes to help you along too) I'm all for these types of places that give you a sense of calm and cosiness in the middle of town. If I had to describe Mish Mash in three words those would be: cute, cute and lettuce. Ah, bet you didn't see that last one coming! Let me clarify: chances are lettuce will be in your dish if you order something for lunch. Which is ok, because the lettuce they served tasted great and it was very crisp and fresh, but come on, there are some other vegetables out there. The lettuce overload is my only beef with the place, and other than that it's a nice experience. The food is ok, but on that alone Mish Mash wouldn't stand out much. They serve fresh salads and sandwiches, as well as a selection of scones and cakes - so it's pretty nice for lunch but it seems to be just perfect for an afternoon tea. They have a bunch of specials (special dessert, drink, salad...) based on an ingredient along with their fixed menu, so they try to keep things interesting and seasonal. Even though the food itself isn't too fantastic, some of the sauces though are simply amazing and the bread is quite tasty too, which makes the dishes more worth it, in my opinion. The drinks selection is good if you're not looking for alcohol - lots of tea and some other fruit or herbs refreshments -, and it pairs well with what they have on offer and with the vibe of the place. This place may be small but it's full of beautiful details. The décor is eclectic, with DIY benches mixed with handcrafted paper mobiles and other nice elements - my favourite is this beautiful modernist cabinet they have facing the door. There's also a lot of effort put into all the ephemera, from the stamped napkins and cards to the way they write you your bill on a funny post-it. Our waiter was very friendly, giving us advice about what was on the menu and telling us about their events and twitter account - do check it if you want to be kept in the loop of all the stuff happening there, like the Lazy Sundays. Extra bonus points for the nice idea of featuring some art work, like photography, in this space - well, they do have the words "Caffe/Retail/Gallery" under their name, so at least they're living up to that. This is a feel good place, no doubt about it. The kind of spot you'd choose to hangout with some friends and have something to eat while you're at it. I was wrong, so very very wrong!!! The last time I came to Mish.Mash, I left sliiightly unimpressed and with the view that the staff were sliiightly unfriendly.. Well somebody please dunk my head in a bottomless pitt of Humble Pie because I have been back and I now see the light and the reason for everyone else's Mish.Mash-induced delight. Whilst the staff here are not overtly "friendly" in the "You Guys Have A Wonderfully Great Day Now" sense, they are lovely to the core and discreetly sweet as can be. Shame on me for taking their discretion as rudeness -SSSHAAMMMEE. This is a cafe that values peacefulness and wholesome food and I will be back whenever I am in need of a quiet lunch of delicious food and gorgeous surroundings. Also! If I had Hermione's Time Turner , I would definitely make sure to revisit Mish.Mash, a new foodie gem on Capel St. Tucked away on Capel Street, this petite restaurant boasts wonderfully romantic interiors, mixing elements of bohemian casualness and Mediterranean vigor. The menu is nicely refreshing too. I went for Caprese Salad - tasty, fresh and served with aromatic brown bread. My tea of choice was Oolong Tea, which arrived in the cutest pocket-size green tea pot I ever saw. Though seemingly small, I got a decent kick out of it without a need to refill a cup. For my whole stay the staff was very attentive, making sure the food was to my liking. So I felt pampered and well-cared-for. Definitely I will be back soon! I came here since it had good reviews on Yelp so decided to try it out. It's a tiny cafe at the end of Capel street with some quirky decor and cozy atmosphere. The menu is pretty small but they have a few salads, sandwiches and desserts for really cheap. I ordered a soup (which was red cabbage) and Salmon Carpaccio but was disappointed. The salad was just a handful of iceburg lettuce and some smoked salmon on top, lacking any taste, was skimpy on portions, and made me feel like I wasted money on something that didn't seem to meet cafe standard in general at all . The soup was ok, really watery and bland though, also lacking substance. The only good point was that the staff were nice, the prices are low at about 5-7 euro (for a reasons I now understand), and the tea, which was pretty nice. But I definitely won't come back and nor will I recommend it as a place to dine in Dublin, that's for sure. read more

Lovely little place with good tarts and coffee. They are playing Tycho that is an ambient music project that goes really well with the low light and the relaxing atmosphere of the cafeteria. Nice decoration with artistic touch (a lot of photos ) and vintage furniture. Perfect for reading, having a date or just passing time. The pumpkin cake is just amazing. They have a menu outside so there are other choices. A "must" in Dublin. They do not accept cards (for the moment) and as it is November in Dublin I did not see a table outside but I have checked their website (in construction) and they show a table with chairs outside. Tonight a friend and I were finished in the cinema and wanted to go for a tea or something- not in the mood for alcohol! Did a quick search on Yelp and found Mish Mash was super close- so off we went. The decor is very cute, nice and relaxing without being bland. Handmade paper decorations and fairy lights might be a cliche, but they are still lovely! The service was great, and the tea I had was delicious. But what impressed me most was that they didn't ask us to leave although they should have closed at 9! I'll definitely be back again! read more

I always underestimate how long Capel Street is when arranging to meet friends on the Northside. It must be one of the most eclectic streets in the city, Dublin's own Soho. The street has everything from bookies to sex shops, karaoke and queer friendly bars, and some of the best cafés in Dublin! I'd never heard of this spot before, but a friend arranged to meet me here before an event in Outhouse, which is just across the road. The place is what you would describe as bijou, there are a handful of small tables about the place. One of the attractions to this place is its late opening hours (open til 9pm). Its fantastic to see more social spaces in the city staying open late, as an alternative to the pub. The tea and cake menus were short, but sweet! I ordered a chocolate and date cake that came beautifully presented with whipped cream on a twee cake plate, complete with doily! The miniature teapots are awfully cute too, the teas are lovely, with unusual flavours like pomegranate. This is the sort of spot to come on a date, catch up with friends. The lighting is dim in the evenings, so it probably wouldn't be good for working, or reading a book. I am told they have free WiFi for customers. The staff are as lovely as the cakes, very warm and accommodating. Would definitely recommend! Oh they don't take cards though, so bring cash! read more

Surely this is the cutest cafe in Dublin!! Wonderful cappuccino using Monte Cristo 100% arabica (and beautiful latte art!) is only the start of the experience! There is a beautiful little selection of home made cakes, lovely short menu of superb sandwiches (like my Serrano ham with avocado, mozzarella and rocket on rustic bread, or my friends "BLT" with smoked bacon, avocado and emmental cheese...) and did I mention the coffee??? All in delightfully quirky bijou surroundings (almost Parisienne?) with interesting artwork on the walls and eclectic furnishings... But perhaps best of all, if not the gorgeous staff, is the little outdoor table and the fact that unlike most cafés in Dublin, Mish Mash faces West and therefore catches the afternoon sun beautifully! Perfect location to enjoy people watching on the uniquely bohemian streetscape of Capel Street and enjoy the view right down to the dome of city hall and onwards to the Dublin mountains... I love the fact that they stay open until 9 or 10 pm were most of the cafes are closed in Dublin. The place is wonderful and cosy and has this kinda vintage look on wood floor and some fairy lights hanging on the window. The food is good, they offer sandwiches and salads. The best thing they have in my opinion is the tea and coffee menu, i went through them all and ended up asking the waitress for a suggestion and i had a really good ginger tea with orange. I enjoyed the salad that i had with blue cheese and smoked salmon and my friend seemed to enjoy her pineapple cheese cake. I think will be going there more often. read more

Capel street goes from strength to strength. With Musashi, Bro Hub, Black Sheep and Mish Mash, the rest of the city will need to get its act together to catch up. The staff couldn't be nicer here, very pleasant. There is a lovely chilled out vibe, you can really take your time and relax with a book or your laptop on the wifi. The coffee is good as is the cake, I can recommend the carrot cake and my partner had the apple and cinnamon and she loved it. I look forward to coming back and trying a sandwich some lunchtime. It's one of the few late night cafés in town with a closing time of 9pm during the week and it opens on a Sunday from 12 which is handy as it can be hard to get a good coffee in Dublin 1 on a Sunday. I hope some time I'll return here and improve my rating, but for now it's going to have to stay here. I just had a fruit salad and a coffee. I really appreciated the wafer with the coffee, I've never had that in a café and they're my favourite coffee bikkies by far. The fruit salad just wasn't my cup of tea, it was all kind of autumn fruits-- grapes, raisins, apples, pears, peach & banana, I think. Personally I'm more of a strawberries, melon, orange etc. kind of person. That's probably my own fault, I should only order fruit salads in the summer. It came with yoghurt but I didn't really touch it, it was kind of bland without any bit of crunch. The coffee was very nice, and the service was good, though the café was totally empty bar me. I'll try to come back and have something more substantial from the menu to give it a true rating but for now, this reflects my experience in the fairest way. read more

My travelling companion and I stumbled upon this place on a recent trip to Dublin, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the holiday. I simply cannot fault any aspect of the experience. The service was truly excellent - our waitress was friendly, welcoming, and extremely attentive, without being intrusive. We were presented with a carafe of ice-cold water as soon as we sat down, and this was replaced the moment we ran out, without us even having to ask. The honey-roast chicken salad I ordered was fresh, tasty, and perfectly balanced, with the sprinkling of nuts and seeds giving it an edge in both flavour and texture. The raspberry tea I had was delicious, and the mini-jug of raspberry syrup I was offered with it made it just perfect. Although the place is a little pokey, the café's décor is perfect, with the light walls allowing the natural light from the front windows to reach throughout the whole space, and the music they play compliments the ambience perfectly. Something else I was taken aback by was the value that Mish.Mash offers. Our food and drinks came to just 10 Euros a head. In any other city, that would represent great value for money. In the overpriced tourist trap of Dublin, that's staggeringly good. That said, we ended up paying 30 overall, as the service was so thoroughly deserving of a tip. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Dublin, even if you have to go out of your way to get there. I doubt that there is anywhere else in the city with food and service as impressive as this within the same price range. read more

Even if the style offers a discordant, but zen, kind of distraction. India Mahdavi? I'd never heard of her. There's a copy of her style guide among the reading materials at M.M. If you know the book and can imagine it put to thrifty good use, then you'll have an idea for what's in store at the north end of Capel St. Come and make your own mind up. I was so so excited to try this place given the majority of the previous reviews. It's a tiny place with a cute and tastefully mismatched interior. Only 1 person was working that day and a couple of tables were busy wi people happily chatting away. I sat down and waited, nothing. I walked up to the counter and asked for the menu which was perceived rather coldly. I got the chance to study the menu fully, over and over again for ages without anyone taking my order so unfortunately I was unable to try their teas or sandwiches or salads. The tea selection looked intriguing, the salads rather simple (which is not a bad thing if done right) but cute and tastefully mismatched is my own home also so I don't need to go somewhere else just for the interior. read more

This place just became my favourite in the whole Dublin today. I never heard of it, my friend took me over, and I got sucked in with the amazing atmosphere. I felt like I was somewhere outside of Ireland, probably Czech Republic. Great dimmed lighting, tasty food, good art, amazing music choice, and really friendly and helpful staff. Plus they had a Polish baked cheesecake, which was just a cherry on top. We spent probably 3 hours there, and I could literally stay there until closing. I really recommend it!!! read more

Centra may well do a vat of coffee for €1 or €2 but its got no style and we all don't want to be sudo bloody Americans walking down the street like were to busy , on our way to court pretending to be Ally Mc Fuckin Beale. read more
