El Trébol Liquors & Bar is one of Chicago's awesome and old-school half bar/half liquor store…read moresetups. Unlike some of the other slashies I've been to where the areas are mixed, this one is a liquor store up front with the bar sort of hidden/tucked in the back. If you stopped in for a six-pack you'd miss the fact that it was a bar (hold for the sounds of music and people having a good time coming from out of nowhere). Once you enter the bar area, you can try to find a seat at the bar or at a table but you'll order at the bar either way. This is in Pilsen, so the primary language spoken is Spanish but the bartender was bilingual. Trébol is located in Pilsen along one of the main east/west streets that create and pass through the commercial area of the neighborhood. Two tips: First, the men's bathroom door doesn't lock, so be forewarned! Second, cash is preferred if you've got it, but if you don't, you can pay with a card up front in the liquor store area.

Even if you choose all the right options, there's no telling if a family get-together will end pleasantly or in a hide the knives scenario. This year erred toward a hide the knives kind of night, by the time I left I was in need of a drink (or three). After a failed booze run to TJ's, I headed for home racking my brain for a liquor store that might be open on Christmas. Fortunately, like a beacon, the lights of USA Beverage called out to me. The store isn't huge, but it has a decent selection of beer. You'll find a nice array of domestics in bottles, cans, sixers and cases. If you're on the hunt for craft beer or imports, you'll probably be disappointed; the selection was mostly mainstream brands like Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and Guinness. I was hoping to pick up some Strongbow, but didn't see it or any hard ciders. The one thing I didn't like was that there weren't prices next to many of the items. This place is convenient, but when I'm not on the hunt for emergency booze, I'd probably head over to Famous. They have a much more robust selection.

Gustavo not only showed us around the busy store (Saturday, July 4th) but directed us to a couple of other tequilas, which we happily bought. Although it took us 24 total hours to get what we wanted, it was well worth it. Liquorama is the best!

Tried to open one of the bottles and the cork disintegrated into sawdust consistency into the wine itself. We tasted the wine and it had a foul taste and non-drinkable. Thru it out. The five days in this major high heat in vehicles and locations without some sort of refrigeration was the cause. I Contacted Liquorama, and they blamed me. They said I should have used same day shipping. During this very hot season, they should have mandate this. I would have gladly paid the difference. They refused a refund and I am out $200. Their fault regardless of some unclear rules on shipping. NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM HERE. THEY HAVE CULPABILITY AND THE CUSTOMER SHOULD BE VAIUED.

People there are friendly and always willing to help you find what you're looking for. The only reason I dont rate it 5 is because, while they do have a good selection of beers, its not as big as Id like. Other than that, its a great place.
