Miss D's is like stumbling into a rabbit hole. The fabric selection is fantastic and discovering fabrics and collections I have never seen before! The staff are friendly and helpful. You can't get lost in there without someone checking in on you and offering help. Their 'side room' is basically a blank canvas at the time. I'm sure it will grow and expand over time. Miss D's has very friendly service. There is a large selection of beautiful fabric. If you're going in to the shop, Miss D's is great. There are classes and clubs and special deals. If you spend $250 accumulated, you get a $20 off coupon for next time, I believe. The website needs an overhaul. It isn't user friendly, in my humble opinion. Big old building in historic downtown Palatka. Great employees with a nice selection of fabric. It was so nice that Dee was working the register. Fun to see the owner really engaging with her customers. I was especially impressed with the size of their classroom. It's a huge space with a lot of natural light. Dear Hubby and I Had the opportunity to attend a retreat here this weekend which included a long-arm class, at the end of which we were able to quilt a small quilt. I can tell you that this was quite a deal and we took advantage of this weekend of fun. We stayed at a nearby hotel and spent three days working on quilts. We met new friends and really enjoyed having a full size 6-8 ft table per Person! She provided a design wall and there were several cutting and ironing stations set up for our use. I of course just had to buy some more fabric to add to my hoard.. ahem ...stash to support this locally owned shop. I was thrilled to quilt my own quilt using wool batting which I have heard such wonderful things about. Fabric lovers, or If your even thinking about learning how to quilt or sew and bitten by the quilting bug, you'll love Miss D's. The selection ranges from traditional & Civil war era fabrics to Batiks, and there is some trendy & modern. She also carries a full Line of Bernina/ Babylock sewing and embroidery machines as well as Handi Quilter long-arm machines. You can drop off a quilt top that you (or a dear family member) has already pieced and they will quilt it professionally for you or You can rent their long-arm machine by the hour and quilt it yourself! Shop hopping! So first visit to this store in historic downtown Palatka. They have a lovely store, with lots of quilts, blocks, etc. on display; lots of fabric; and accessories. This is a family business, with 3 generations working in the store - a really friendly, knowledgeable group of people. They have a huge long arm area with class space for a large group. Definitely a place I will go back to. read more

Called on the phone for sewing machine needles. She was so sweet to let me know these are fairly universal but she agreed to mail me 2 sets of needles via USPS. It was nice for someone to go the extra mile for a customer. read more

Do Not Use this place for repairs on your machine! Dee is rude and unprofessional to say the least. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of Babylock dealers in the area and I thought this being in a small town it would be a good choice to get service on my machine....Wrong! I dropped off the machine 9/21/20 for a service and to fix the auto threader. I was told by Taylor/technician(D's grandson), it would be a week to ten days. After a week I called to get the status and was told the technician was not in and he would call me. After two more days I call again and get another story from Miss D/owner that they don't know when the part will be in and that it could be 6 weeks. I would have never left my machine for 6 weeks. After 15 days (10/6) I call and finally speak to Taylor who says now that fixing the threader would take him 3 days and cost several hundred dollars. I said I would come get it that afternoon or the next morning. He said the charge was $35. I went the same afternoon and Dee was at the front counter. She went to retrieve my machine and came out carrying my Babylock embroidery machine by the handle and bumps it on the counter and says "this is heavy". I take very good care of my machine and she was very rough with my arm and machine. Taylor had left early and claimed they didn't know I was picking it up. They couldn't find the rolling case, nor the embroidery arm and case. She claimed I didn't leave the cases nor arm! She had to keep going in the back and calling him. She comes out carrying the embroidery arm vertical! I even had a note on the case to keep flat...she has no respect for anyone's property!! He finally comes in BAREFOOT with dirty feet during business hours! They finally find what I thought was everything and during this time Dee talked about me to her employee. She then disappeared in the back and would not speak or discuss with me. I get home which is 40 plus miles one way and discover I don't have my embroidery foot. I call and Taylor finds it, "oh yea it's here"! Another 85 mile trip to pick it up and he would have mailed it, but I didn't trust them at this point. The machine didn't sew properly. I really don't think he wanted to be bothered fixing my machine. I've had to take it somewhere else who said he took it apart and didn't put it back together completely....imagine that! The threader was fixed in 30 minutes! Again, I tried to speak with Dee and she refused to come out from the back. When my husband went in to pickup the embroidery foot that was left behind, she didn't want to help him, as she was too busy ordering lunch and complaining how she had been interrupted 18 times. Please think twice before you do business with her. I just could go on and on about how RUDE she is and how ugly she talks to her employees. I had gone in two weeks before this and bought a rotary hook and the person who waited on me didn't have a clue what she was doing and tried to give me a pack of five instead of one. I kept telling her it was only one....I'm sure this was another family member. I was honest and only took the one for $35. Don't waste your time and gas going here, especially for service. I'm not sure how he's certified! Definitely lacking communication skills. read more

Adorable quilt shop located in Downtown Palatka. It is a historic area. The owner has kept the charming flavor in the interior of the shop. Lots of the latest fabrics as well as the basics. The employees are all so helpful and friendly. They also put on a quilt show every spring. How civic minded can you get? It is not a huge elaborate show, but unpretentious and friendly, just like the shop. Go, you will be enchanted. read more
