I have never actually eaten at Miss Saigon but I make the trek across town just for the amazing Boba...I am very picky with my boba being that Ive had it all over the country and have high expectations...This place knocks it outta the park!! They have a ton of flavors. I am a traditionalist so I just always get the green tea with milk and extran boba....Its never crunchy or overly gummy. They prepare it fresh twice a day so if you plan on going around 3pm or later at night closer to closing at about 830 be prepared that they may be out. There have been two instances where Ive gone in and they were cooking it in the afternoon or out at night. read more

I lived next door to this place for a 4 month period. It was the greatest 4 months of my life. Hands down, this is the best Vietnamese food I've ever had. The Pho Tai is amazing. The broth is godly and the vegetables are always fresh. Another favorite is their Còm Gà Sate (#55). The coconut curry sauce that comes with that dish is nothing short of perfect. Having said that, I do not believe that one person or one bad review should have an adverse effect on your business. My guess is that if I saw what I saw, then it probably would be the last time it happens. Delicious food and good service. Wait was about 15 mins on a sat night for a table of two, so not too bad. Also didn't feel rushed as at any other similar restaurants, so got to sit and really enjoy our meal. read more

The pho is good, as is everything you may try here. I just get so frustrated at the crowding of their restaurant. Of course, it's a huge sign of good food - yet it would be much better dining experience if they had a larger space than what they have on Campbell. I have eaten 3 times at Miss Saigon, and each time liked the quality of the food and the creativity of the cuisine. Having lived in China, I am fully tuned to Asian cuisine and although Miss Saigon does NOT serve Chinese cuisine (their "chicken lo mein" is not Shanghaï-style) it's a take on the same roots. The pho is excellent and the food never disappoints. The downtown location had my favorite dish, but for some reason the menu isn't exactly the same at this location. Every time I've been I have had to wait for a table, so make sure to plan ahead. Excellent Vietnamese food at a great price. I got #60 - the pork had a tasty flavor over the bed of jasmine rice. My partner got #70, fried rice with shrimp, chicken, and other goodies. (Unfortunately the order got lost in the appetizer section, so it took a while to arrive.) The fried egg rolls were served with a bed of ice berg lettuce and vermicelli noodles. We went at noon and the place was jammed with students (It's across the street from U of A), but we only had a short wait. Groups greater than 4 may have a much longer wait. Being a vegetarian, i was a little weary that they wouldn't have anything suitable for me but low and behold, they do! They have a vegetarian section which includes Pho (but they use chicken stock if you don't mind). I got i believe number 15 which is a stir fry veggie and tofu rice plate...YUM! I am sad Miss Saigon's management has taken it so far downhill, because I LOVED this place! The service was always lousy - and the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the quality of the food made up for it. But on my last visit, I ordered take out, sat down, and after waiting some ten minutes, was told they would NOT make my order (I asked for #19 without broccoli, which is what I always get - it's heavenly) and that they would refund my money. The cashier also informed me that there's no purpose in ever coming back to Miss Saigon (my big offense? ordering a dish with no broccoli!) as they would no longer be able to customize any of their dishes (or take any special requests) going forward. She apologized that she had taken my order, let me pay and wait until my order was at the top of the cook's list, but between what happened and them telling me there's no point in coming back, I was taken aback. I asked to speak to the manager, so she looked around but couldn't find one - then she called the manager but he apparently did not pick up his cell phone, so they told me I could not speak to the manager. She suggested I call back another day and I did - only the manager was not there again. What was once so good is now a bunch of poorly trained young new employees running around, the left not knowing what the right hand is doing - and the manager is never there - lousy customer service just got unacceptably bad. I guess they've gotten too big for their britches, since they are so popular. But I would warn them that many popular university-area restaurants have lost their fan base when they took their customers for granted and let the service bar get so low we felt trampled. So, I'm really torn here. On one hand, they have one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind: boba. On the other hand, their food isn't fantastic. It's not bad, just not exceptional in any way. They have very few vegetarian options and even those options are really just slight variations of the same dish (steamed veggies +/- steamed or fried tofu with rice or rice noodles). Again, the dish isn't bad, just bland. It would be nice if they offered a non-meat-based soup in addition to their large selection of beef-broth soups. However, they really make up for this shortcoming by having the best boba in town. For those of you that are (sadly) unaware of what boba is: they are tapioca balls. They are slightly smaller than a marble and are placed in the bottom of a tea, slushy or smoothie. So, you eat these chewy, little balls of yummy-ness while you drink your smoothie or tea. So good. I mean, SO GOOD. My fav is the taro smoothie (with non-dairy milk). It's amazing. And purple. Which kind of makes it doubly amazing. Best pho in Tucson. Seriously!! I wish this place was everywhere because I would eat there or try to eat there everyday. It is the freshest and cleanest restaurant ever! My life of Pho began many years ago and I have eaten at many Pho places around the country and this little place in the desert is still in my top three. The staff has been there forever and it is obviously family owned and run. I highly recommend since the weather is turning in Tucson to go check this amazing place out. Placed my order for take-out 2hrs in advance. Got there on time and it was not ready. The waitress had me pay before telling me I'd have to wait 5min. Ended up waiting 23min. We are staying in the hotel next door, and so we ate here twice in the last two days and everything was excellent. We had the pho with rare beef and that was very flavorful. My husband really liked the "meatballs." Today we had the pork lettuce cups, which were very tasty. I'd definitely order them again. This was the saddest vietnamese dining experience I have ever had. My partner and I recently moved to Tucson and were excited to try Miss Saigon. It had great reviews and was even tagged under vegetarian restaurants on Yelp. We were hopeful when we arrived; the place was packed and the service was friendly off the bat. However, when we looked at the menu, we were confused. I was hoping to order some yummy veggie pho, but over half of the items on the "vegetarian" menu either had chicken or beef broth, limiting us to only a few true vegetarian options. I dont think most vegetarians would classify dishes with beef and chicken products as "vegetarian". We tried the spring rolls to start, which ended up being disappointing and bland. The lettuce was white and not fresh at all, and there was no flavor to the rolls whatsoever. The tofu strips inside were chewy and looked unappetizing. We both decided to order veggie dishes for entrees. Everything pretty much had soy or ginger sauce, which I dont eat because they usually contain gluten. Having basically no other option, I opted for steamed vegetables and rice. The veggies were bland and tasted like dish water. I couldn't even stomach to eat more than a few bites. My partner Erica got a vegetable dish with ginger sauce that was pooled in the bottom like a filthy soup. The veggies were soggy, NOT fresh, and just tasted flat out sad. Even the mango boba tea the server recommended was terrible! Neither one of us could stand to drink it because the syrup was so overpowering and bitter. We are people who hate wasting food at all costs, but ended up leaving the majority of our dinner untouched, and going the grocery store instead. We simply could not force ourselves to eat any more of the stuff. After paying over 30 dollars for one of the nastiest vegetarian meals we have ever eaten, we felt extremely disappointed and upset. We still cannot figure out why so many people loved this place or why it was even tagged as vegetarian in the first place. Maybe it's great for carnivores, but based on the quality and freshness of our meals, even that is hard for me to believe. We are used to getting amazing, fresh Vietnamese food with bright green colors and fresh veggies. Miss Saigon unfortunately takes the prize for some of the grossest Vietnamese food ever. I love this place. Really good pho and interesting dishes. Sometimes the chicken broth can be too oily/salty. Soft Vietnamese spring rolls are so yummy with peanut sauce. The only thing missing from the menu, are golden crunchy spring rolls. I wish they sold regular spring rolls in a set of two so I could order both. Non pho dishes I like are the fried catfish with lettuce cups and half cornish game hen with rice. I would like to try the coconut curry. If you are entertaining out of town visitors, need pho to cure a hangover, or want something healthy and delicious, this is the place. read more

Despite its proximity to the University, Miss Saigon is actually pretty decent. The place and service remind me of one of my fave pho places in LA, Pho Rowland in Rowland Heights, which has killer pho, bun and rolls of all varieties. The portions at Miss Saigon are actually pretty formidable, especially if you get a mixed-variety, such as mixed beef or veggies. The rolls are always fresh and made to order and the pho noodles are firm and not the segmenting variety. The service is eclectic and you may have more than one server that takes your order, brings the food or refills your drinks, which is great because there is always someone around to revise your order or answer questions. One especially noteworthy point about Miss Saigon is that they still make iced French-style Vietnamese coffee old school, with the press on top instead of bringing it already mixed -- you can brew it as you dine and rock it for dessert -- the best way to cap an excellent meal. The only weakness of Miss Saigon is it's location and parking situation, which are a little difficult to navigate. I recommend going around the hotel from Speedway and hitting the back entrance for the least hassle. read more
