Old school Chinese diner. Not fancy, but def fast. Not sure if the economy is causing a drop in food quality or if there have been changes in recipes or cooks but it has been noticeable. The dish that used to be my go to was the ginger chicken, but the chicken quality is noticeably less tender, on the stringy side. So I switched to order other dishes like their tofu dishes or an occasional Mongolian meat dish. Again, the meat & sauce similarities (hard to tell them apart) are noticeable. It's still a decent place for a fast meal or easy takeout but I find myself looking elsewhere for Chinese food. Their fried rice was always basic, but now it's like it got hit with some soy sauce & little else Prices have gotten a bit higher (like they do :) though they're still cheaper than many) but quality has gone down a notch or more. Not saying I'll never be back, but it's not on my bi weekly dont wanna cook lets eat out rotation. Oh well. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a friend since my daughter craved Chinese food this week. The food was just okay. I guess we are used to great restaurants back in the East Coast. The food portion does not fit the price(even with inflation) as you can see from the pics, the plastic food containers were not full. So weird! Coming from the Midwest that's not how it's done. Either you fill it all the way or choose a smaller container. It looks like leftover food I used to take home at the end of the day from our own restaurant. We did get a full box of rice. The crab puffs aka crab rangoon, are very very very very tiny. Like less than half the size of a normal puff. The chicken Chop Suey, my husband did not have anything to say about it, I didn't like it because of the way it looked and the flavor. The chicken looked weird, not sure how it was cooked/ prepared it had a strange texture/look. All this food was takeout $61 (found +tip) so I can't say much about the restaurant ambience since we didn't dine-in but it was a very busy restaurant when my husband went to get the food. My friend recommended few other restaurants so I will have to try the others and see if they are better. Not sure if we will order food from here again and if we do, it will be just for my husband on a day when I don't feel like cooking, and definitely not for me. Because I worked in a family owned restaurant business for over 40 years before retiring, I know what good food should look and taste like and I have a passion for great food. So happy to have a delicious Chinese spot nearby that has daily lunch specials and a wonderful variety of dishes. I've dined in and gotten takeout several times, and the food is delicious both ways. Service is friendly. There aren't a ton of booths, so you may have to wait, but they're quick and efficient. I love the cashew chicken, sesame chicken, and moo goo gai pan. The fried rice is the perfect complement, and the egg flower soup and egg rolls are tasty too. Don't skip the hot mustard, it's the real stuff. Even the Thai tea is great! One of my friends recommended this place but I don't live close I finally got the chance to try it! I'd say one of the top Chinese food places in Tucson. I'd rank it #2 next to Fatman kitchen. The space is small they maybe have 4-5 tables. We came right before a rush but it was super speedy service! We had crab puffs and they were well done, super fresh and the sauce was great. They put green onions in which added really nice flavor. My husband and I shared orange chicken with fried rice I was really happy they didn't even up charge us for fried rice because most places do. The batter was great, crispy and moist chicken inside. The sauce was flavorful and they put orange peel in the sauce which I feel like added a nice flavor on top. After probably more than a dozen meals there, I've never been disappointed in the quality of the food or the service. It has a "no-nonsense" interior that suits the purpose just fine. I drive 17 miles each way to eat there if I'm not in the area for other reasons. The fast stuff 1. Willing to make modifications. The tofu with vegetables came with a white sauce. We asked, "Can we change to brown?" DONE. 2. Garlic intolerance - So they said tofu has garlic, and we can remove that. The Mongolian Shrimp their chili paste has garlic. They let us know. However, they offered fresh chilis instead. Wow, that's going the extra mile. DONE. 3. Service is elite. The place is small, like six booths. They do a lot of takeout. 4. The food itself A. Mongolian Shrimp was spicy and great. Lots of shrimp tasty with green onions. It's a schezwan dish. Recommend. B. The tofu dish didn't work for me. It was bland. Needed some heat. There are plenty of veggies, and I suspect the removal of garlic probably hurt. Tofu was solid. We will be coming back. Good food. Fair prices. Until I opened the bag and revealed a pile of rice and a tiny bit of meat and onions. I was still hungry after eating every morsel. This was recommended by a friend so we decided to give it a go, we were in the area. Checked in for lunch and there was a 10 minute wait. It has very limited seating and seems most of their business is take-out. We ordered their lunch specials, the Orange and Sesame Chicken which came with Hot n Sour Soup a roll and steamed rice at very reasonable prices. We were surprised! The Hot n Sour Soup was delicious, tart and tasty and the Sesame and Orange Chicken both on the very good side. Of course steamed rice is steamed rice. The portions were plentiful, surprising for $9.95. The wait was short, the service very good, all in all a great place for lunch. I've been eating here for about four years and was so happy to see they made Yelp's top 100 Chinese Restaurants. It is way better than most of the Chinese restaurants around Tucson. Their kung pao tofu, garlic eggplant, and Singapore curry rice noodles are my recurring orders and I really love that they will make my chow fun vegan on request. It is also really cool that they offer a discount for veterans and service members.
