Had a great first experience here last night! Our waitress Maryann was attentive and friendly, and told us she'd been at the restaurant for 30 years. The food is self service, you pick your noodles/vegetables/meats and bring it to the cook. Everything seemed fresh but I did notice the only proteins available were chicken/beef (no fish or vegetarian proteins). Soups and rice are available warm at the other bar. I mainly want to say I do recommend this place. It is a little less clean than I would like, but it makes up for it with the food. My stir-fry was absolutely delicious and I loved the info they had about each ingredient. The fried rice was really good and I enjoyed their egg drop soup and that is a dish I normally don't like. Lastly, I don't know if we came at a bad time but I didn't really get any service, and had little interaction with any staff. What you see is what you get. This restaurant has been around for decades, and despite ownership upheaval and a switching in some staff, the food is still excellent. Savory, a little sweet, any spice level you want, and as much vegetable, meat, and noodles as you want. This is not some sort of food chain conglomerate. I haven't stopped by Panda House Stir Fry since 2008. I just came back from a nostalgia feeling I once had when I first stopped by for some grub. Yesterday I came with my friend to try it out. Of course the restaurant has changed a bit since then. The decorations are traditional. Multiple of different picture of pandas on the same wall. The booths are lovely but simplistic in their own way. Our waitress was very nice and gave us different suggestions to order and got me the assistance I needed since the last time I came. My friend made her own stir fry and I took a shot at a veggie Stir-Fry to another waitress (I could tell she knew what she was doing btw). The veggie Stir-Fry was great. For the portion I got of vegetables and streamed rice on the side it was quite filling thanks for having me here, I'll be back sometime soon. :) read more

I have come here many times over the years, and in my personal experience this place has gone down hill. Our reason for coming has always been fresh ingredients as you go down the line. But over the past few years the offerings have never changed and they are always out of have numerous items. What is more, is both my partner and I have noticed it has become dirtier and dirtier. I always get my bowl spicy. Once they didn't ask me and I forgot to tell them I wanted it spicy and it wasn't very good. It really is spicy so if you don't like spicy food don't get ask them to make it that way. There is also a choice of white rice, fried rice, lo mein and soup. I am not a huge fan of their soups of rice. The only thing that would make this place better if they had a few more options to add. When you're watching what you eat, this place is a godsend. The buffet is well stocked w noodles and chopped veggies from cabbage, sprouts, mushrooms to peppers. There were three meats offered, chicken, pork n beef...all incredibly lean. You then pick your flavors to stir fry in...garlic, a light teriyaki, chicken broth, ginger and curry or spicy powder. I get the chili oil on the side. Rice, fried rice, crispy cream cheese puffs for side items and their egg flower and hot n sour soups are the best soups I've had in a long time. My son especially likes this place...he can eat his fill and know it's a healthy meal. The owner makes a special pho only available on Sundays. We want to try that soon. Average place not great but not bad food. The guy that works there either hates his job, hates his life, or both. He's pretty rude and doesn't like questions. It was my first time going so I asked about how spicy the hottest was and he points to the spice level and condescendingly says "well you see that one has one chili, that one has three chilis and the last one has lots of chilis so you can guess how spicy it will be." I brushed it off because I wasn't going to stoop to his level of petty. The food isn't bad and it's cooked to order, you get your ingredients in a bowl, they cook it, they bring it to your table. I have been going to Panda House since I was a kid. The previous owners would always remember and ask me questions about what was going on in our life because we would go every other week or so. When the new owner took over, I unfortunately noticed a huge change in their food. My husband appreciated him with His support for the police family so we would still do take out every once in awhile, but always felt disappointed. We finally decided to go in and try. As disappointed as we were with the food, my 9 month old was shoveling the food in. I always do my best to clean up whatever mess my children leave, but the Owner comes over and very loudly starts Talking about the mess. I thought he was Joking at first but quickly realized he wasn't. We weren't done with our food, but with both my husband and I being servers in our past, we always do our best to keep clean up before we leave, but a 9 month old will make a mess while eating. He walked by multiple times with my husband on the floor cleaning up and never once said anything. As a server I would Always tell people not to worry about it. We will not go back in. And it seems based on the reviews and the fact the restaurant was empty on Mother's Day, that we are not alone with our disappointment. read more

The place was sold around 2 to 3 years ago to a husband (guy is downright rude to customers and shouldn't be in the restaurant business and needs to step away before he runs them out of business) and wife (very sweet Asian firecracker chasing her dream, she works very hard to keep the place running as long as the husband stays out of her way) team that continue to operate the establishment and the food is as good as it has been for the past 20 years. Now for the not so good... The place is rundown and dated as far as the decor, and the facility as a whole could use some sprucing up. The last few times we have eaten here the place gets dirtier and dirtier, and last night it was very noticeable as the walls, tables, art on the walls, carpet, storefront windows, and generally everything about the place was filthy! Richard, aside from your recent health issues, please get the establishment cleaned up (we are on the fence about eating here ever again because of the conditions), hire some front of house help and step away and let your wife handle the day to day, you don't have the personality to deal with the public and are running people away from an established business. Located in a strip mall on the southeast corner of Thornydale and Ina, this AYCE Mongolian Grill has humble settings but offers great value for your money. The options for meat and veggies are small and limited, but the sauces are really good and service has always been friendly and fast. They have a small buffet that offers soup and fried rice that comes with the AYCE option, and if you don't want AYCE, you can order from a different a la carte menu. Not bad! read more

And the little lady standing in the back of the restaurant just stood there watching me. It was a little awkward. Finally I had to walk up to her after kind of walking in circles and ask her how it worked. It really was not a huge selection to choose from, and what they did have, really wasn't that fantastic. There was an empty space in my appetite when the Mongolian Grill juggernaut "Genghis Grill" left Tucson a couple years ago. I feared that I, the starving post-grad, would merely recount stories of putting together disproportionate amounts of meat on top of noodles in a bowl sprinkled with vegetables. True, Panda House Stir-Fry is limited in its variety of vegetables and sauces, but it should not be discredited. My bowl came out absolutely delicious. Despite my praise of the return of all-you-can eat Mongolian grill bowl option, I feel more than obligated to direct attention to the staff. It says a lot about an establishment when the staff is as pleasant and friendly as these people were. Even more, I should note that this establishment's facade light was completely off/broken, making this place difficult to find. Ironically, it was still bustling, indicating that this location's reputation and loyal fan base was enough advertisement for it to meet its needs. Panda House Stir-Fry comes across as a hole-in-the-wall establishment with an extremely loyal customer base. It's not a classy establishment, but makes its mark in a homier mom-and-pop fashion. The all-you-can-eat option came out to be somewhere between $12-14 a person. Great place to stumble upon. read more

This review is for the buffet dinner, 4/11/17. I was passing through Tucson on the way to California and Mexico, saw the good reviews on Yelp and decided to stop. Unfortunately, the Ina Road exit off IH-10 is non-existent thanks to extensive construction. Luckily, the desk clerk at my hotel rerouted me with very little problem. I lived in China as an exchange student and very seldom does Chinese food in America match that in China for flavor. I was happy to see that Panda House adopts a typical Chinese "less is more" attitude. It is true that the selections are not extensive but what they offer is fresh and tasty. And unlike some Mongolian grilles that offer 20-30 different sauces, here there are only four--the house sauce (plays nicely on the palate), chicken broth, garlic sauce and ginger sauce. And honestly, that's really all you need for an excellent dish. The flavors reminded me of the "real deal" in China, something that you don't often see in the West. The fried rice is excellent, as is the lo mein and the various soups, especially the hot and sour, which are included in the price. Add to this the kindness and genuine caring of the staff and it was an excellent experience--well worth being rerouted and getting lost a couple of times. When I pass through Tucson in a couple of weeks on my way home to Texas, you can be sure that I'll be at the Panda House for dinner again. read more
