    Take out brisket, pulled pork
    Lyn L.

UPDATE: I'm giving honest feedback based on the excellent followup service I received from the corporate team. Explanations and apologies were exchanged and I wanted to commend them for supporting their brand. Well, I'm done with this place. We typically order 2-3 times a month because hubby loves meat, bbq in particular is his kryptonite. I order online because I order a lot (they freeze well and someone in the house can eat lots of bbq). I walk up to the cashier to notify her of my pickup and she directs me to the pickup counter just 3 feet away. Behind me comes a woman doing a pickup as well. The manager(appeared to be some kind of supervisor) immediately helps this woman ignoring me(who was there first). Her order wasn't even ready but he waited to give to her. After she left "said manager" says "are you waiting? Um, yes that is why I stand there. My order had already been on the counter. No apologies for having skipped me. Not sure why I was invisible.:: Brought food home and it appeared to be half the portion of what I typically get. I thought they weighed these pieces but I guess not. They also have an "orange ticket" loyalty envelope that apparently I don't qualify for because I place my order online. I asked about on their Socials page. I guess it doesn't matter that I spend $50-$150 a visit. I will no longer order from this place.

Stopped by last week after a workout for my first ever visit of any Mission BBQ, and I had a really positive experience ordering for takeaway. The cashier and the manager (I assume she was a manager) were extremely patient while I looked over the menu and decided what to get. They also told me about what dishes from the menu are really popular, what each of their handful of sauces go well with what I ordered or which ones I would like based on my preferences. This interaction was really great for me, especially since I was exhausted from a long day of work and a rigorous workout. I was just really hungry! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich North Carolina Style (but the cole slaw is on the side) combo with a side of fries and a drink. I also asked for the Smoky Mountain sauce. The sandwich was really tender and delicious, and the fries hit the spot! Maybe I was just starving, but I greatly enjoyed my meal. The only thing I was a little upset by was the large bone in my sandwich; with the size of the bone, the cook could've just removed it so I didn't bite into it and have not been in pain for a few minutes. The restaurant wasn't too packed, but there were more than a handful of people in there enjoying their meal. It was fairly clean from what I noticed. it wasn't too loud; the vibe was pretty chill. There are also outdoor tables and seating for when the weather is nice! I had a great experience and will not hesitate to come back again!

I had the apple cobbler this week. Absolutely delicious! The meatloaf was a very generous portion but it was served with a ketchup mixture that was WAY to spicy! The Mac and Cheese was old fashioned and had extra melted cheddar throughout.

We had dinner there on 6/29/2024. My wife had the brisket sandwich with a side of green beans. The brisket was sliced to order. I had a few pieces as my wife couldn't eat it all. It was a little dry and bland. The Texas twang sauce helped. The beans were flavorful, very tasty. I had the pastrami, a side of coleslaw and potato salad. The pastrami was tender and delicious. I would eat that again. I did like the mustard that was served with the pastrami. The coleslaw was a little dry. I wasn't impressed with the coleslaw and didn't finish it. The potato salad was tasty. No complaints about the potato salad. I liked the amount of pastrami on my plate. I feel that a side should be included with the meal. The cornbread was average, a little dry to me. You order at the counter, so I have no comment on service. Overall, it was a decent meal. I am basing my rating on the bland brisket and subpar coleslaw.

Found this place after leaving the Sully Historic Site of the Lee family (relatives of Robert E.) and the National Air and Space Museum suburban outpost near Dulles airport. Portions were small and sides were not included, so if you have a craving for any of them, know they are only available ala carte. The sauces are all tasty; personally, I really enjoyed the Kansas City sauce because I like tart, vinegary mixes. Service is fast and friendly. Ambience is bright and cheery but very military. Another reviewer used the word patriotic. It's a small chain in these parts, apparently, so give it a try if it's convenient.

It seemed like a fast food place on the way in but it was really good. Really good for the price and loved the choices of bbq sauces.

There's no fussing about or pretentious gussied-up-ness with this roadside stand that sits in the Shell gas station lot. Talked to the owner a little bit, and he told me about his bbq technique and how he loves to do it. This is how they do it in the South, and I'm glad it's here right around the corner. PS - I never go to Red,Hot & Blue and Famous Dave's. Having lived in South Carolina for a summer, I'd like to think I have a good handle on what real good barbecue is, and those chains aren't it.

Last I was here, they had a little tent that was at the mercy wind. Now, there's a nice truck to keep them out of the weather. Also, instead of dripping sauce in my car like before, I can now eat at a couple of new high tables and seats next to the truck. Fantastic improvements from before. The best part is of course is the menu. I noticed some new items have been added to it. That menu really does change from week to week and that's keeps me coming back. I had the dry rub ribs which were phenomenal when you dip it in their sauce which was sweet and vinegary at the same time. Not dry but crisp outside and moist inside. I also tried the beef rib which was new and I really enjoyed it. They serve a single beef rib that's so big it won't even fit in the damn container. Tender, juicy, and has that fantastic wood grill smell to it. Crispy exterior but inside is very moist. Very tender and cuts easily. If you get this, don't bother getting anything else. It's a whole lotta lotta meat. Then top everything off with their delicious baked beans that comes with the order. It may seem pricey but for the quality and quantity, this is a great deal compared to other locations found within the walls of a restaurant. This is how I've imagined roadside bbq should be and I'm not disappointed. This place is just worth every mile of that 20 I travel to get here. And I'll gladly travel it any weekend just to see what DD BBQ has has up on its marker board next.

The bbq has all of the standard sides and meats that were so so yummy, especially the pork belly. The bbq items came out what felt like minutes after we came back with filled plates from the appetizer bar. Only thing we wish was different was that we got the sushi after the kbbq and we were pretty full by the time it came out. We were instantly greeted at the door and only had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table. From there, we decided to go for the triple combo of AYCE sushi, hot pot, and KBBQ. The best choice! We began by ordering sushi and items for our hot pot - all were incredibly fresh and tasty. I particularly loved the Szechuan broth - which I made sure to ask them to make vegetarian (be sure to ask beforehand as some broths are made with pork). From there, we fired up the grill with brisket, bulgogi, and, my favorite, the garlic shrimp! Everything was so juicy and paired perfectly with the sauce bar items we chose. I particularly loved the crab rangoons and kimchi as some fun sides! The restaurant is very spacious and is great for groups or eating with a friend. I appreciated how attentive and accommodating each server was. In my opinion, this is one of the best KBBQ spots in town! Definitely worth the visit.

We were greeted upon arrival and given a rundown of the menu options along with staff recommendations. But the food itself was honestly disappointing. The BBQ tasted bland, dry, and nowhere near worth the prices they charge. For a place that talks so much about authentic American BBQ, military pride, veterans, patriotism, and all the "support our heroes" branding, I expected way better food. Instead it felt like the atmosphere and marketing mattered more than what was actually on the plate. The military and first responder theme is everywhere, but after a while it starts feeling more like a marketing gimmick than a restaurant focused on quality BBQ. Even online, a lot of people seem to say the same thing -- overpriced food, average BBQ, and too much forced patriotic branding. If the food matched the hype, maybe it would make sense. Right now it just feels expensive for very average BBQ.
