Again waited for specialist call for 10 days just to make an appointment. Finally, specialist will be calling after 3 weeks, not having time to see me in person. I am not understanding if someone is pregnant and having hard time because of other health problem, still this health care system does not care. Nurses over there were just sitting on the chair relaxed, don't care if someone is in pain.

When my 91 year old husband was taken to ER he received excellent care and he was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and sent to ICU. I admit I was sceptical that this little hospital would have the equipment and skill to help my husband. That was February 27 th. I was pleasantly surprised. his care was exemplary, the equipment as good as any hospital at home. I can't remember the names of all the wonderful staff but they were beyond good, thoughtful and kind. While he was in ICU I had a nasty reaction to a drug I was on a passed out fracturing my TiB Fib and lateral and medial malléolus . I had surgery and once again anxious about such a difficult surgery. I had my knee surgery in a large teaching hospital and had an accident fracturing my femur on the same right side. I need not have worried as the orthopaedic surgeon did an amazing job on my leg. That was March 8 th and yes my husband and I were both in rehab together. once again, the staff were amazing. My husband became palliative and a bed was found on rehab. I worried would excellent rehab staff be able to manage palliation? They were amazing.My dear husband passed Saturday April 25th. Something else happened , something I have never seen or heard of . They brought a bed for me so I could be beside him and hold his hand and I would be comfortable. This hospital has SOUL. Receptionist was so pleasant it was unbelievable, what a "gem" and lab tech who was working by herself because of a shortage of staff was super nice and very efficient. Even though I had to wait a bit I can't believe the stress these folks are under these days. Not their fault the system is close to the edge, but without their efforts every day, the system would definitely hit a wall.

By the time I had arrived I was so hopped up on morphine I didn't really know what was happening. First a nurse, Sabrina (I have no idea how I remember her name out of everyone) took my temperature. Still not that high. Maybe the nurse at the Whistler Health Centre was right, maybe I did just have a bad stomach ache. Then Dr. Gaully examined me. The next thing I know I am being rushed into the OR with someone trying to get as much information as they can from me before they put me under general. I started crying. I couldn't take it in. I was trying to explain to everyone that it was just a stomach ache and that I was going to get an MRI tomorrow in Vancouver. The anesthesiologist looked at me with concern in his eyes and said, "We don't have that kind of time. We need to operate on you now. Now take a puff of this inhaler....Good now breathe and count to...." The next thing I knew someone was waking me up. My whole body was in pain. For the next twelve hours someone would come in regularly to take my vitals and make sure I was doing ok. While I was conked out, my friend who came with me to the hospital was allowed to sleep on a couch in the break room. They really went above and beyond making sure she was comfortable too. After two days I was released. Because they just didn't have the technology I have a big old-fashioned appendix scar instead of one of the modern three little nothings that most people. I'm not complaining though, for without them, I would have died. As it was, my appendix was already oozing and was just about to burst when they operated. My heart goes out to all of the amazing doctors and nursed who helped me. It was far superior care than any I've gotten in the states.

Ok, I know hospital food is nothing to rave about, but honestly after not eating anything solid for 2 days this was a welcome meal. I got a real kick out of the title of "gourmet" salmon burger... lol. Not that is was bad, but it was actually pretty good considering it was made with a plain burger bun and no sauce. Maybe it was just that I hadn't eaten in a few days but since I'm a yelper I thought it was worth a call out for the great staff and help I received here during a rough time. I have nothing but good things to say about LMH staff and services.

My experience with booking a lung scan at Langley has been horrible. My requisition went in - in…read moremid March 2026. It was supposed to be a 4 month wait to have the scan done. So that would bring me to July. Because of the incompetence of the booking clerk at Langley who did not even bother to call and book a date until I question why I hadn't heard anything 2 months after the requisition went in. Finally I get a call that I had missed and they left a number to call back. I called it back 12 times no one bothered to answer it always went to some voice mail that must not be monitored I left message after message to call me back to book my appointment. Finally I did call the X ray services (which is not the department that books the kind of scan I was going for) she had me hold and managed to put me through to someone who was able to book it. So because of Langleys "booking clerk" I am stuck waiting another two months so a 6 month wait for a scan that I should have been booked in July for. Whoever is in charge of that department should take a real long hard look at your employees. They could end up killing someone because of their incompetence. Not impressed one bit with Langley or having to wait an extra 2 months due to someone not doing their job.

I have known this hospital has tricky layout and made me confused...and 8 years later, still tricky and more worse. The ceiling is kinda low and I felt like being in a maze. I wanted to have an ultrasound over breast but they kept telling me mammogram first. I didn't understand why but as it's their protocol, I had to follow. So I checked in mammogram test but until the technician got suspicious about I was in the another mammogram test room and I was another "Mari" (there was another same name patient!), I had no escorted by receptionist. The technician for mammogram was super kind and friendly. After we finished testing, she asked me if I had time. Of course! Then she set up ultrasound test right away. That was wow. Because I didn't have family doctor's requisition either. Both test results had nothing suspicious. I was very happy that my long day ended positively.
