My family has been coming here for a decade and I can't recommend this clinic enough. Everyone is so kind and knows my family well. Both vets are amazing. They have given us the best golden years with all of our senior pets, knowing exactly what treatments to recommend and practicing LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) handling skills. Our two senior dogs really love their vet visits. My rescue dog acts like a total psycho at the vet due to years of trauma before I adopted him. Dr Spadaro worked with me to give him his shots, exam, and ear infection treatment. She was an absolute saint being so patient. Giving my dog an injection is really no small feat. His appointments are always quick and to-the-point to give him an easier experience, whereas my older dogs usually have a longer more relaxed visit as they love to socialize. So they can really adapt their care based on the needs of the dog in front of them. read more

Unprofessional and Petty - Avoid This Drama Queen Circus I spent over two months working with this clinic, put down a deposit, followed up multiple times, and made it very clear what I needed for my dog's travel. A few days before the trip, I call to confirm one simple thing -- the FROM address for a shipping label -- and suddenly everything falls apart. Nicole calls me, and right off the bat her tone is off. She asks, "Where are you gonna stay in Germany?" I tell her, politely, "I'm not going to Germany -- I'm going to Greece." Her response? She snaps back in an accusatory tone, "What? You told me you were going to Germany." I calmly respond, "No, I never told you that." Trying to stay professional, I say, "I know you're sick, but it's not acceptable to talk to a customer like that -- regardless of how sick you are." Instead of taking accountability, she throws more attitude and immediately jumps to, "OK, do you want to cancel the appointment?" Then she adds, "You called this morning and were rude to my staff!" -- which was completely false. Another baseless accusation thrown in to deflect from her own unprofessional behavior. She was acting like the task I needed -- something critical and time-sensitive with my dog's travel -- was some kind of hostage she could hold over me. That's not customer service. That's petty and power-tripping. Then Dr. Miller gets involved, and instead of taking the issue seriously, he runs interference for his staff. More excuses -- "Nicole was sick," "her voice probably came off wrong," "maybe you misunderstood." He puts all the focus on defending her tone, and zero on correcting what actually happened. No one took accountability for the false accusations, the miscommunication, or the attitude I was getting from his team. I didn't raise my voice until I was being accused of being rude -- for no reason. I didn't get upset until they ignored their mistakes and turned it into a blame game. This wasn't just disorganized -- it was completely unprofessional. If you're looking for a team that owns their mistakes, communicates clearly, and respects the time and needs of their customers -- this is not the place. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. read more

I wish I could give this place 10 stars!! Let me first start off by saying Michelle who works the front desk is an absolute ANGEL! She always takes care of my baby girl Savvy and always is there for me when I need her. She is so amazing at her job and truly cares about patients and their babies. Everyone there is so great and sweet! I just want to give Michelle a shout out for always being there for us. Dr. Miller goes above and beyond! He always tries to go the more natural approach which I love and he doesn't pressure you at all. Our cat is a patient of Dr. Miller's. The clinic is tucked into the small plaza on Pleasant Valley Road near Leisure Village. We usually park right in front of the office. For those of us in the VATP, Mission Oaks and Santa Rosa communities - this location cannot be best! While we have a cat and not a dog, I do not recommend Dr. Miller for a cat who needs anything more than an annual visit. He's nice enough but my experience leads me to suspect he is more of a dog vet. The dogs love him and the owners do too! However, our cat and he pretty much seem to feel the same way about each other - meh! (We believe.) We continue to take her there because all she needs is an annual exam, currently. He takes the time to ensure she is healthy and makes it easy to get in and out in 15 minutes. As she ages and needs real care, we will find a more feline specific vet. Our cat is more like a child to us and we appreciate that though Dr. Miller is not as keen to such quirkiness in pet owners as we are, he does his best to roll with it. :) The office staff are very nice. The front desk receptionist is so pleasant and really treats all the pets who pass by with love and care. She melts our hearts. The prices are reasonable for office visits and there are half day hours on Friday and Saturday, in addition to 9-5, Mon-Thurs. read more

This is an updated review...I've been going to Dr Miller for about 4 years. I've never liked the fact that the girl Michelle at the front desk is unbelievably rude. Despite that I thought Dr Miller was good. I now have a Cat that has been diagnosed with diabetes by another vet ( Dr spedaro) that works in his office because Dr miller was out of town. So now that the other vet has diagnosed my cat they have turned her into my vet. I wasn't okay with that but I kept asking her about diet and how to possibly try to get my cat into remission. She said she's only had two cats in her career go into remission. But I understand why because she's not willing to work with the patient regarding diet, monitoring, and how to, wean them down off of the insulin (if possible) It seems that she only wants to treat the issue instead of getting to the root of the problem I called the front office to see if Dr. Miller could call me so that I could talk to him regarding his philosophy on trying to get cats into remission. I had to call a couple of times and each time it was several days before he would call back. For over two months i was asking for help and it was impossible. In the meantime, i was changing my cats diet and really needed support so I reached out to another Dr in Ventura who has already been able to work with me on her diet and we've reduced her insulin by half. She also mentioned that moonbeam has two bad teeth that could be contributing to the issue so I have an appointment to have those teeth removed. Both dr miller and spedaro looked at her teeth and said that she had two bad teeth, but whenever I want to take care of it, it's up to me. Just very nonchalant about it. Finally, when I was on my way to the new vet I got a phone call from Dr. Miller because he noticed that The Cat Doctor reached out for records. He seems to have the same philosophy as Dr. Spadaro and explained to me that because she diagnosed my cat that usually they like that cat to stay with that doctor. I didn't go to Mission Oaks veterinary clinic for any other doctor except for Dr. Miller. I don't like posting bad reviews however I felt that I should let people know that if they have an animal that has been diagnosed with diabetes you might want to get a second opinion outside of his office. read more

I'm surprised this clinic is highly rated. First Jen couldn't find our record and turned us away. Next Michelle was rude and kept saying okay okay okay... well it's not okay. I'm not calling your clinic to make friends or make small chit chat. I'm calling for my pup. Not helpful at all. Their system is archaic (and mind you I've taken my pup to a vet in New Hampshire and Florida and their system was automated. Here I have to physically come in. As simple as nexgard they don't carry this and when asked if chewy can call them to confirm my pup has seen their doctor, Michelle said no. I have to come in to pick up a script. Who has time to physically come in. I'm caring for both my parents with Alzheimer's I cannot just leave them at home. This clinic is definitely not customer oriented and rude. Will not go back here again and others should maybe reconsider coming here. read more

These guys are great. Dr. Miller is a real pro and the rest of the staff clearly loves animals and they seem to really love what they do. I'm only giving one star because I have to. I HATE this place!! The vet that was there retired and the current vet and employees are horrible!! All they care about is upselling. When you ask for an explanation, they have to go back and ask the vet because they don't know what they're talking about. My 6 lb. Dog had a mass he needed removed. They quoted me $573 without dental, with dental it was $630. I never even asked about dental. My brother's pit bull had a mass that needed to be removed which was $600. It didn't make any sense that for 170 lb. Dog and a 6 lb. Dog, anesthesia costs would basically be the same. I went elsewhere and was quoted $330. Stay away from this place, it's horrible! I'm never going back there. read more

I think the doctors are fine but the office staff and some of the policies are deplorable. I am a normally calm person with a medical background as a pediatric nurse practitioner so I know what care and caring are about. I once tried to make an appointment for my sick dog on the day before Thanksgiving because the office would be closed for 4 days. I was told to just randomly call other vets and maybe someone would see the dog but they would not. The most recent exchange occurred yesterday when I was running 5 minutes late and out of courtesy I called to say I was on my way and would be there is another 5 minutes. I was told that I would have to reschedule. It turns out they have a 15 minute window (according to the office manager) but the receptionist that I was talking to said the window was 10 minutes and since we had been arguing about it for several minutes, I would not be able to get there in the allotted 10 minutes. I know what it's like to treat people with dignity and respect and this is not it. What is the saddest for me, is that my frustration has caused me to be disrespectful back. Oh and to have my blood pressure go up to 170. I have found a new veterinarian. read more

The staff at Mission Oaks were very friendly and professional, and made going to the vet a very painless process for both me and my furry friend. The location is nestled very close to the Purrfect cat cafe too, where you can spend time chilling out with cats! The staff here were also very helpful and friendly, and my cat was very comfortable. The doctor gave him his shots very quickly without fuss. Overall a very good veterinarian in Camarillo, that I would recommend. I wish I could give 100 stars! First the staff is so friendly and sweet. The lady at the front desk was so helpful. When I called I was a nervous wreck. She listened to me and got me in right away. My cat had a horrible spay at Mercy Spay and Neuter Clinic in Oxnard. Her incision was infected and my cat was in a lot of pain. Second, they are open Saturdays!! So helpful when you have a full time job. They got me an appointment within minutes. Dr. Miller is fantastic. He helped me feel better and my cat. Her incision was infected and he gave me pain medication and antibiotics. He was so good with my animal, he actually was petting and cuddling her so she felt very comfortable. The medication was so affordable I was shocked. If I had to do everything over again I would have gotten my cat spayed here. THANK YOU DR. MILLER!!! read more

I followed Dr. Miller from Thousand Oaks, and am so glad I did. We take our lab and two cats here. They can always work me in at the last minute if we have an urgency. They don't try to upsell you on tests. I used to go to a vet on the other side of town, and paid a fortune. Dr. Miller is reasonably priced, and most importantly, Dr. Miller is a fine vet. We come for check ups and problems. Our lab had a link on her lip, and he asked the right questions to proceed on a course of treatment right away. Another time, our dog was boarded at another facility and lost 10% of her bodyweight in a week. We were panicked when we retrieved her, and Dr. Miller got us in the same day to check her out. We started going to Dr. Miller about 7 months ago when we rescued two American Bully Puppies. He is very caring Doctor and goes out of his way to help with challenges we have had with our puppies. I arrived in Camarillo with Gussie from Florida, by car because she was too big for the airplane. Dr. Miller tried to save Gussie who developed a kidney disease. Then came Saffron, who also died within a year and was never really very healthy, coming from the shelter.. The medical care and guidance was excellent. Now I have Gidget, and she really likes Dr. Miller, and puts up with the various procedures. This is the best care you can get for your roommate. read more

Choosing a new vet is hard. Vets, like everyone in business, need to earn a living..make money. We all get that. The trick is to find an honest human being who puts that in 2 nd place of importance, not 1 st. place. Needing a 2 nd opinion regarding treatment for our new little rescue dog, we contacted Dr. Miller late in the day. He and his caring staff saw us, stayed late and performed the needed procedure on the spot, (sparing us a 300.00 surgery under anesthetic that had been recommended.) Dr Miller is a straight up, sincere guy. Easy to talk to and understand. His first priority is doing the right thing, not parlaying it into the most involved, costly thing. Not that long ago, my wife and I decided to stop going to this clinic, and find another one. I wasn't planning on saying anything negative about this clinic, or about how rude and condescending a guy who works there is. That was before my wife told me what she found out today from her friend. When my wife and I last went here for our dog's yearly physical, we also wanted to get some information on possibly having his teeth cleaned. My wife started talking to the guy who put us in a room, and asked us questions about our dog. When he first took us in the room, my wife asked him if he liked being a vet technician, and he said very much. She told him that it must be a fun job to have, and that our daughter would like to become one when she gets older. My wife asked him where he went to school to become a vet technician, and he told us that he didn't go to school . He then explained that he wasn't a registered vet technician. We had always thought you needed to go to school to become a vet technician. She then asked him about the dental procedure before the Dr. came in the room, and he told us exactly how the dental procedure would be done. My wife is a very very nervous person when anything has to be done to our dog, so she wanted to know all the details of the dental procedure. The guy told us that either he or another technician would be the ones who would clean his teeth, and if there were any teeth that needed to be pulled, the vet would do that. My wife then asked about the type of anesthesia that they would use, and exactly how it would be given to our dog. He told us that he would put a catheter in our dog's vein, and then he would give an injection of anesthesia into the catheter so our dog would go to sleep for the procedure. He also said that our dog would be on gas so he doesn't wake up during the procedure. The entire time my wife was asking him questions, he was treating her like she was stupid, and should already know this. In our car on the way home from our appointment, we decided that we weren't going to return to this clinic, and would find another one. Today my wife told me that she was talking to her friend (who is a vet technician) about having our dog's teeth cleaned next week, and how nervous she is. She told her friend what the guy who worked at this clinic told her about the procedure, and her friend asked where he went to school. She told her friend that he wasn't a registered technician, and her friend was shocked because the guy isn't legally allowed to be giving any animal any type of anesthesia because he isn't registered in the state of California. Her friend said that only registered vet technicians or the Dr. can give anesthesia to an animal. That's when I decided to write this review because this clinic, is allowing unregistered vet technicians to anesthetize animals. If I could give this clinic a negative number of stars I would. Mission Oaks Vet Clinic is totally unprofessional, and they are breaking the law and putting innocent animals at risk. If you use this Vet clinic, please be careful. read more

I switched to Mission Oaks Vet, Dr Miller after 12 years with another vet after receiving two recommendations from family members. My first consultation with Dr Miller, he discovered a serious heart murmur and an enlarged heart that my previous vet completely missed for 12 years! He prescribed medication that is given twice a day that will prolong my dog's life now that it's treatable. I am so thankful that Dr Miller caught this condition before it became critical. My second visit happened because of a tumor on my dog's chest that I was concerned about. Because of his heart condition I was also fearful that anesthesia could be dangerous and I was quite sure the tumor would have to be removed. Dr Miller looked at it and took a slide sample and advised against removing fatty tumor as it posed no danger to my dog. I was amazed that a vet would decide against a money procedure that many vets would readily advise for removing. His advice and consultation fee was half what I was accustomed to. Dr Miller is an extremely professional and caring Veterinarian who places the welfare of the precious pet first before profit, unlike some vets out there. I am grateful for Dr Miller and his professional and caring staff at Mission Oaks Veterinary Clinic for their care of my dog. I would recommend his clinic and services above all others. Greg L.
