I came in to urgent care for a sharp pain in the ball of my foot when walking and running. The office staff were great and I was seen fairly quickly. HOWEVER, after my x-ray the doctor told me my sesamoid was naturally separated but not fractured, just inflamed. They gave me a pad for my shoe and basically said to rest for two weeks and then see how it felt. Because I wanted more clarity on my diagnosis, I looked for the visit notes in the patient portal. The visit notes were not posted to the portal for two weeks after my appointment. When they finally posted, the notes say that I DID have a fracture even though the doctor said I did not. I am very confused and frustrated about the delayed notes and inconsistent diagnosis. read more

Both of my knees were bone on bone and I felt that one of my hips was in need of replacement. Dr. Price advised which knee should be replaced first and advised me that he believed it would correct the severe pain in my hip. He was right. He replaced both of my knees and the recovery was pretty smooth. The hip pain was relieved by replacing the first knee. I now have a shoulder that requires surgery, but Dr. Price told me I could wait on it until I felt the pain was more than I wanted to put up with. What I am saying is that Dr. Price is not knife happy any way shape or form. His bedside manner is exceptional and his ability is second to none. read more

Not only did they drop out of the Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Network, they now won't even file claims with them. That means that secondary provider Tricare for Life (military retiree over 65) won't pay, either, since they require an explanation of benefits from the primary provider. That means that it doesn't matter how could their care is, they don't take insurance. read more

This organization are bootlickers to the state Workers Comp program. I can't believe they don't get. busted for fraud. They take money repeatedly from the WC fund for PT, X-rays, MRIs etc. but.as soon as they are assessing injuries for comp purposes they will lie through their teeth- in my case I received extensive PT and other services paid by WC but when asked to assess my injury for WC, suddenly my injury wasn't the result of the workplace accident. I even had some. totally incompetent lying wrist PA say that my "mental health" interferes with my ability to self assess my own injury. When I requested his training and competence to make mental health judgements I was stonewalled and of course, even though it was in writing they denied that is what he had said. Every single doctor, nurse, PA, PT lied to cover their asses. It incredible that they are allowed to take money treat a work injury and then deny the injury is work related as soon as WC wanted to end service. I don't know the solution to this but will be following up the AG's office. read more

I'm giving 4 stars because I don't have any over the top experience to rate it higher yet. I don't know about the other reviews but my family and friends have been well treated here. My son had his ankle look at last year with no surgery just stretches. He is doing fine. My other son had cast on broken arm. The ER wouldn't give my son any pain pills for his broken arm, came to Urgent Care here at MBJ so that my son could get a Rx for pain relief. My wife came here for knee pain and no surgery was recommended. Given some exercises to do and elastic knee brace. She is back to running. Niece had knee surgery here couple years ago and is back to regular activity and doing great. Me, well I twisted my ankle and trying to determine what my options are. read more

i have been trying to be seen for 3 days now. we went to superior er and was told I had a broken knee. that they were sending over images and wanted me seen the next day or day after. like I sai, 3 days later, I call and talk to a very rude person. she probably had never broken anything. I asked if it would be quicker to go into the urgent care there, was told no. they wouldn't see me. I just had to wait. we are from out of state and can't just wait. this is the worst bone specialist hospital I've ever been charged to. i have a bad bone disease so believe me after breaking well over a 100 bones in my life. I'm genuinely shocked with the difference in care from when my son was here to when we brought my daughter in. They just didn't care. At all. Broken arm still hurting 4 months later? Meh. I can't thank this place enough. I suffered terrible numbness and pain in both wrists from severe carpal tunnel syndrome. After 15 years of splinting and steroid shots my doctor referred me to Dr. Sullivan and his staff. I was treated with care and compassion the whole way through. During the surgery I began to cry from discomfort. After asking the anesthesiologist to give me a little dose of meds for pain, Dr. Sullivan stopped my crying by saying " Look at this screen, that's the inside of your wrist!" Cool. I have had to have many surgeries at Bone & Joint...every surgery I was scared to have... The staff has been amazing, front desk staff, Dr. Roster, his nurse Kelly, Dr. Rosters surgical assistant Mr. Keeney, my physical therapists through the years Sydney and Lyndsey, Dr Wright and his team. What scared me was all of the different levels of pain and healing one goes through after having surgery, everyone is different (I usually wait until I can't take the pain before committing no in to talk to doctors) sometimes the fear of more pain makes me wait over a year just to get me in the building. I always know when I have needed surgery, right now I know I need my right ankle operated on again, it is no fun knowing. If and when I decide to have my 6th surgery @ B&J, it will be my 20th surgery in just 12 years. Each surgery I have, I am alone once I go home, it's just me, that on its own is very difficult. On October 3rd I had my L ankle rebuilt. All of the metal was removed, each side of my ankle sliced open an inch and a half, two cuts in the top, ligaments and tendons repaired on both sides, anchors all over, more things screwed into my bones. Everyday, every week, every month I experience a different kind of pain. Healing takes so much patience. I appreciate the incredible care I have received at B&J! I am not sure I will be ready to have the same procedure done on my R ankle in two months. I am 45, I have already had 22 surgeries, one of those being spine surgery in my early twenties. My body is covered in scars that all hurt in cold weather or sometimes everything just hurts. Having my R ankle rebuilt will make 23 surgeries on an already broken body. I am just talking about surgeries not broken bones, Car accidents... I have a very high threshold for pain, I know my body very well. I went to Cornish in Seattle and took dance. Dancing is one of the only things that makes me happy when I am sad. I walked everywhere, I didn't have a car. I did yoga all of the time. I was a massage therapist for decades. I loved my job so much. Removing pain from the world, that is what I wanted to do with my life. Instead I got really really sick, since I had no healthcare the doctors I needed to see wouldn't see me, the surgeries I needed to get well were not given to me. No doctor would help me. I had to fight for care! It has been hard to learn to trust, the care I have received at Bone & Joint has been absolutely wonderful! I am so thankful! Its been 3 years now today since I originally went in for bilateral knee Replacements March 15th of 2021. 3 years since the nightmare began. 12 days after 1st surgery l ended up in the emergency room with severe pain and left knee blown up. They did an emergency surgery that Monday. At that point I was told that I had staph infection, from the first day I left the hospital I had one spot on my left knee that would not heal up and had a lot of drainage even to the point if you squeezed it shot out in which I told them several times. Even the day l had the surgerie, after they had me walk down the hallway to the stair steps to see if I was ready to go home, drainage was all over the floor out of the one location . They put a PICC line under my arm that leaked into the top of my heart and I had to shoot antibiotics in there three times a day several syringes each time for six weeks. Absolutely miserably sick the whole time and a couple more surgeries. To make a long story short that entire time when I had appointments with my doctor (Mark Channer, Missoula Bone and Joint) never did come to see me until the very last visit he always had his PA come. Now I'm no genius but I would expect a common courtesy that if I had a patient who was very very ill from my surgery, I would be the one to take care of that patient. The last time I went in my father was with me, dr. Channer showed up finally and just told me that I would never be the same and I would always have some kind of infection or sickness due to the antibodies and the knee wasnt healing. At this point I lost all faith in my doctor and his staff it seemed as though he got his money and really did not care about what else happened. My father and I asked just what the hell does that mean and he just said you just won't ever be right. After I got a new doctor, he said the original implant was more than likely infected, but could be from opp, staff etc.. I also found out that I was allergic to the antibiotics that I was taking in the PICC line. In fact I found out the hard way, after 6 weeks it was taken out and I immediately headed to Texas for a funeral but by ended up in the emergency room the next morning while driving through Wyoming! Four more surgeries elsewhere later I lost my left leg. My new doctor was outstanding and did everything he could to save my leg not even a peep out of Dr Channer or his office. Over 2,000,000 in bills. Everybody got paid and I'm the guy that's ass out. Now here I am 3 years later , life completely changed , nobody ever offered to help with my bills for the two out of pocket deductibles and worst of all not even a simple apology . They had me scheduled for surgery within a few days, and again the day of surgery was amazingly seamless! If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Bone & Joint went like this: I arrived early for my appointment and was checked in immediately. Then I sat for an hour and 45 minutes PAST my appointment time before I was called into an exam room. Once in the exam room, I sat for another 65 minutes before the doctor came in. I was in a terrible accident, confined to a wheelchair, etc. Doctor Woods came in, jerked my legs around with the bedside manner of King Kong, then proceeded to berate me for being "lazy" and using my wheelchair. He did nothing, and told me to return in 6-8 weeks. He also fit me for a custom leg brace that caused significant pain. I went back twice before I went to Northern Rockies Orthopedics for a second opinion. It turns out that Dr. Woods missed a very bad spiral fracture in one leg and the brace was pushing on another break, making it worse. This is why it was so painful to wear. Later I found out that Woods is a "back guy" who should have referred me to someone else. I will never return to Bone & Joint and will never recommend it. read more

My husband has been there twice and was treated horribly both times. there first time he went for knee pain. The doctor said, I guarantee you have no cartilage in that knee because you're overweight. When the X-ray showed otherwise, the doctor's exact words were, "I don't know what's wrong, but I have a tee time, so I have to go now". He was driving his car out of the lot before my husband was through checking out. The second time, the doctor didn't mention a bone spur that was obvious enough that my husband could see it, even though he had pain in that exact spot. He then sent my husband down the hall for physical therapy, where he waited an hour before someone remembered that the therapists had left early that day. Never, ever again. read more

Absolutely the worst place ever. Receptionists are EXTREMELY rude. One lady in the X-RAY department is also a real b**ch. They talk behind your back, and don't care about anything besides the paycheck. Only a handful of friendly people work there, the other 95% are full of themselves. Do yourself a favor, and avoid this place. The wait time is also unbelievable. Wait times sometimes are 45+ minutes. So much for making an appointment and showing up on time. Make this place your last option unless you want to be treated unfairly and by people who don't care. Avoid urgent care as the receptionist that works over there is beyond disrespectful. read more

I tore my ACL in January and am being treated at Missoula Bone and Joint. I am having a good experience. Dr. Sherrill is very knowledgeable and his team was miraculously able to find an MRI appointment for me in the city the same day so that I wouldn't have to travel an hour back to Missoula days later. I was very appreciative of that. I never have to wait to see the doctor or PT. My PT Kristina is very skilled, knowledgeable and supportive. The only thing I haven't liked about my treatment is that after my surgery I felt rushed out of the recovery bed. I did ask to stay a little longer and I was given 10 minutes. I threw up 5 minutes in to my car ride home. That was a bummer! read more

Horrible patient care. I had an appointment with Dr. Sullivan and because I had an hour commute, for various reasons, it became clear I would be a little late. I phoned MB&J when I was close and told them I would be late, but I was almost there. After checking in I was at intake desk 2 15 minutes late. The intake person knew that I had called. She called Dr. Sullivan's aid, Jeneka, (sp?) who told her that they were already very backed up, behind schedule, and could not see me. I told the intake person, if so, then even if I had been on time, I would still be waiting. I said that this was the 2nd post op appointment and would likely be very brief. She said, I'm sorry, that's what Jeneka said. They blew me off to ease their workload. I was offered an appointment the next day at 8:30 but I was leaving on a trip then and wouldn't have returned even if I could due to their callousness. I have always had to wait when I arrived there on time. At my previous appointment, I didn't see the Dr. until over a half hour past the appointment time, during which time I heard him socializing with another doctor right outside the room, about vacations and such, for at least ten minutes. I had first seen Dr. Sullivan a year earlier due to pain and numbness in my hand and wrist. He referred me to another doctor at MB&J who ordered an MRI of my neck. That Doctor, Dr. Witte, said that I had arthritis on an upper vertebra and would need surgery to have two vertebrae fused, involving metal insertions, a major surgery entering from the front of neck, with a lengthy recovery time. He told me to contact him when I was ready. This all took several months. A friend referred me to another doctor whom she was very impressed with, with a different group at another Missoula location. I told him my symptoms and he immediately told me my problem was not with my back but was clearly carpel tunnel syndrome. He also said an MRI is not like an x-ray in revealing what is happening on the spine and at any rate he could do a procedure entering from the back to widening any nerve canals that might be impinged, without drastic measures. Since he was not a hand surgeon, he called Dr. Sullivan while I was in his office and discussed why he thought my issue was carpel tunnel. Dr. Sullivan's told him he had thought it might be carpel tunnel when he first saw me but wanted another opinion. His office made an appointment with me to schedule the carpel tunnel procedure. I had it done, which eliminated the pain altogether, but I still have some numbness in my hand which may or may not improve, according to Dr. S. He told me not to wait as long if it happens to my other hand. I said nothing but thought "It's because of YOU I wasted a year!" I have no other symptoms now. If I would have had the major surgery, it would not have eliminated the pain, and would have laid me up for a long time. I will never return to MB&J. I would not have written this review otherwise but the callousness of Jeneka in blowing me off after my commute for no other reason than to lessen their workload brought this sorry experience to a head. read more

My husband had recently completed a Hip replacement. We made an appointment was seen within a short time of from the initial call. There was no prolonged waiting to see Dr. Price, he was scheduled for surgery quickly at Missoula Community Medical Center. The surgery was completed he is back to his old self he does not experience the pain that he felt before and has regained his mobility and is doing great. Follow up's went just as smooth with both the PAC Doug Henry and the MD. Absolutely atrocious practices. Avoid at all cost. This place over books the crap out of themselves and is over an hour behind on a regular basis, so much so that when I was upset because I had to get to work they laughed and said they assume I should know better and expect such wait times whenever I go to a dr office. Yeah so I actually am not usually treated this way by northern Rockies orthopedics, my PT, my GP, my dentist or any other medical offices in missoula and or Hamilton in fact. Their disregard for people's life and time is appalling! And their attitudes about the difficulties it causes after one has taken off work and had other appointments and jobs they must get to and having already planned for and gave this appointment 1 .25 HR in case they were behind but not knowing that isn't nearly enough for them is heartbreaking! How dare you treat people this way, desperate people in pain. You don't have the decency and consideration to be honest with them about your greedy practices so then can accept and just plan around you. I am disgusted and already in the process of switching my insurance to a more expensive plan just so I can return to northern Rockies and never be treated like this by missoula bone and joint again. read more

Thursday, 09/27/18, I had Rotator Cuff surgery on my left shoulder. This was my sixth different surgery since 2002 that has been done at Bone and Joint. My experience with Bone and Joint has been nothing but professional, that is why, if Bone and Joint can perform a surgery I may need in the future, it will be done there. The six different doctors that have operated on me, as well as all the staff, have been nothing but above and beyond. If Bone and Joint can provide relief from the pain you are experiencing, I highly recommend using their services. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being on the top, I would give their services a 20. Staff is awful for snubbing patients in need of care because our schedules do not match that of your facility. Tried to turn me away when they only had one other person in the waiting area. I had two surgeries for my hands. The surgery was great. The billing department prior to the surgeries assurd me that a payment plan would be fine. Thier version of a payment plan is 50% the first month and 50% the second and if you don't pay they send the bill to a collection agency which charges ten percent. I had to contact the Montana State Office of Consumer Protection for help and was denied a loan for school (University of Montana). The denial of the loan was based on the bill (under $150 dollars) sent from Missoula Bone and Joint to a collection agency. I was activily making payments. Never have I refused to pay. This action has placed a negative report on my credit and caused me to scramble in finding funds to pay for tuition. Thanks Missoula Bone and Joint! I thought this was America not China. read more

I had a major injury at the lake in August and went to the er at community medical center. The er doctor couldn't tell if my Achilles tendon was completely ruptured or not, so he called the orthopedic surgeon on call that night who was from bone and joint. The surgeon decided to not come see me and told the doctor to stitch me up and see the surgeon in a week. I'm so thankful I got a 2nd opinion at northern Rockies earlier. Not only was my Achilles completely ruptured my bone was also cut in half. The surgeon at northern Rockies told me if I would have waited until a week to go to bone and joint I would have gotten a serious bone infection and not be able to repair my tendon. I'm very disappointed and angry at the surgeons at bone and joint. If I would have waited to see the surgeon I would never be able to walk again. The surgeon on call was too lazy to come in and see my injury on a Saturday night. The bone and joint surgeons are lazy and do not care one bit about their patients. Highly recommend northern Rockies. They saved my tendon and saved me from a serious bone infection and not being able to walk again. read more

I left a review on google, but I will leave another review on yelp since I had such a wonderful experience here. In Oregon I had a horribly crappy experience with a so called 'orthopedic surgeon.' I traveled all the way here to hopefully get a better experience, and I did! I have Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis with my target joint being my left ankle. I told Dr. Roster I was frustrated with the pain and was tired of living with it. He immediately took up to date x-rays, listened to me, and was friendly the whole time. I got surgery done July 2nd. I am 2 weeks post op and I already feel like I am in less pain, than I previously was in. The whole staff is professional doctors, nurses, front desk, all the staff I encountered were friendly and professional! I am so happy with my experience and couldn't be more happy. Thank you so much guys!! Thank you Dr. Roster! You are an amazing guy! Also his nurse is so funny and nice!!! Everyone who dealt with getting me ready and helping with the surgery is amazing too!
