I was interested in getting Invisalign treatment and visited Dr. Harman's practice as they specialized in it. The initial consultation went well. The staff seemed helpful, and I met Dr. Heidi Harman. The assistant took detailed photos and X-rays, assuring me that they would email my information, pricing, and treatment plan by the next day to help me make an informed decision. However, despite repeated texts and calls over the next FOUR months politely requesting the promised information, I encountered puzzling excuses each time. Such as "Gmail is a tricky guy" Ultimately, they ghosted me completely and refused to release my X-rays to any other office. I'm deeply disappointed and confused. I had hoped to pursue treatment with Dr. Harman, but without the promised information, I couldn't proceed. It's disheartening to think that I could have been four months into the procedure, but instead, I faced runarounds from the staff, and my time was utterly wasted.

The original estimate was about 12-16 months start to finish, however a snag in progress has drawn that timeframe out. Despite the setback to my ortho treatment (no fault of the doctor or her staff) they have continued to help me keep a positive outlook on the process. I expect to complete my ortho treatment during the upcoming year and so far am pleased with my choice of coming to H2O.

Friends at work recommended I check out UMKC's orthodontic services to save money in orthodontic…read morecare for my daughter. A typical orthodontist would run around $5,000 while UMKC would run a couple thousand dollars less. Their services are part of the schooling of their orthodontic students who are getting close to graduation and thus comes the savings. But, like the old addage goes, 'you get what you pay for'. Expect a long wait for approval and sign-up. Appointment cancellations are common and frequent. My daughter's appointments have been canceled many times, and a couple times, twice consecutively. She's going on three years now with her braces. I'm certain had we taken her to a local, reputable orthodontist, they would have completed the process within two years. And when they cancel, we often have to wait an entire month for the next appointment. So, her braces are not being tightened regularly as they should thus prolonging the time she has her braces on. It's frustrating. The work they do is good. The students are mentored by their professors. The clinic is nothing fancy and all the patients are in one common room being worked on, except for the consultations; those are held in a private room. We have to trave a ways to get here. So, will I utilize their services with my other three children? No. It's not worth the drive, the wait, the cancellations, etc. Also, parking is hit and miss. Often, the parking lot close to the building is full and you have to park in a lot that's a couple blocks away. This isn't fun if you are in a hurry or pressed for time. You also have to get a voucher so you don't have to pay parking fees from the guard station. I feel our daughter is more of a number than a valued customer so our next three children will be going to a private practice. You do get what you pay for in time and in service so it's a decision you will have to make. Additionally, UMKS's orthodontist services are per approval. They have to accept the candidate into the school. There is no 100% guarantee that you will get in. But I think most people can and do.

I was immediately impressed with Dr. Herre's knowledge of TMJ. He also teaches other dentist how to treat this condition so I would consider him an expert. Dr. Herre made me a bite splint and at first, I will be honest, the expense was really hard to swallow. However, when you consider that the hour long follow up visits (all included) for weeks and weeks afterwards, it really makes the cost more understandable. Anyway, I have had my bite splint for 5 weeks now and the proof is in the pudding. I went from someone who spent probably 10 days a month in bed with migraines to being nearly headache free. Before I also had other symptoms like not being able to chew foods, ear pain, facial pain and all of it has disappeared. My husband is thrilled that I'm not tired all the time anymore. I cannot say how pleased I am with the results so far.

Over the years I have gotten sealants, fillings and broken teeth removed on top of my regular visits and I have always felt at ease. I am never intimidated and as Dr. Scott will tell you, I never cried! It's a nice treat to go to what is usually a dreaded experience and actually sort of enjoy myself and feel cared for.

I'm really shocked by some of the other reviews that were posted, and just don't feel like they…read morehold any ground in comparison to how Burleson really does business. I just recently finished orthodontic treatment at Burleson in June. I had quite an extensive case. My first appointment with them was prior to their move into the new office in Briarcliff. I was approaching 30, and my smile had always been horrible. I'd always wanted braces, and finally decided I was going to take the plunge. I did EXTENSIVE research on orthodontists in the area. I went to a couple to "check them out", but knew I wanted to see Burleson's team after my first visit. I knew getting braces wasn't a cheap thing to do, yet after my visit, I saw that it was affordable (and they helped to make it that way). There are certain things in life that you do not want to skimp on, and things such as medical, dentistry, or orthodontic care are a few of them. The price Burleson gave me was on par with all of the other orthodontic providers in the area. Come 2 and 1/2 years later, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Let me start off by saying that there were times throughout my treatment that I was honestly surprised by the type of service and care his team provided. In comparison to what you expect from other businesses (in regards to service and how you are treated), the experience at Burleson was almost surreal. I started off in Invisalign, which went really well. Throughout my treatment, I often had questions (and was very eager for things to go without a hitch). The doctor I saw throughout my treatment was Dr. Stroede, who by the end, I felt was a friend. I can't say enough good things about her. I could email her questions or concerns, and would get a response back within a day or two. Before work I could go in, get my new trays or an adjustment, grab a cup of coffee, and make it to work in time. Appointments are quick and extremely comfortable. I traveled some for work which would often overlap with my routine appointments. I NEVER once had a problem getting an appointment rescheduled -- oftentimes within a couple of days. I was far from the perfect patient. My treatment plan involved many variables. Towards the middle of my Invisalign, I had a very uncommon reaction to it (I've had weird allergic reactions to various things in the past). They went from trying lingual braces because "discreteness" was important to me (which didn't do everything that needed to be done on my teeth), to finishing me off on traditional braces. There were never any extra charges or fees -- it was merely the right thing to do. I ALWAYS felt cared about as a patient and their goal in getting me the best smile possible. Being (finally) done with braces is such a fantastic feeling. I jokingly say that the staff is probably happy I'm done too. I got to know them all from just being seen as a patient as throughout my treatment I was very particular and asked a ton of questions, except I really didn't need to be. My care was of the utmost importance to them as well. In conclusion, you get what you pay for. I couldn't be happier with what I've gotten from Burleson and his team. There are plenty of orthodontists in the city, but who you see and the experience you get makes all the difference. I'd be happy to answer any additional questions and share my before and after pictures with anyone who's looking into Burleson -- it will be one of the best decisions you've made.

The office staff has always been very helpful, kind, and respectful to me. Even though I am not the account holder of the older two girls (I am their step mom), they worked with me and the account holder so that I am able to handle the account as I would be able to handle my own child's. They have been clear with all their treatment plans, and my children HAVE been seen by the Dr himself, as I have met him and am pleased with how he treats my family. I can't say much in regards to the retainer experience or after care, but I will surely update as that happens.
