My experience as a new patient at Crossroads Dentistry came down to a repeated lack of respect for my time and a miserable experience in the chair on top of it. From the very first phone call, I was clear: I have real time constraints, and I did not want to split X-rays and cleaning into separate visits. I asked to do everything in one appointment. I was told that would push my start date out, and I accepted the wait to avoid multiple trips. When I arrived, I was told they couldn't do the cleaning that day and I'd have to come back -- the exact thing I'd asked to avoid. What made it worse was that I was surrounded by other patients who appeared to be getting their cleanings, so the claim that it couldn't be done didn't add up. The dentist found a few cavities, so on my way out I again asked to combine the cleaning and fillings into one visit. They agreed. Yet at that appointment, I got the cleaning, was sent back to the waiting room for fillings, waited about 20 minutes, and was then told the dentist was too backed up and I'd need to return -- either later that day or another day entirely. That's now a third trip for something I explicitly tried to schedule in one, and it doesn't even account for the deep cleaning or Invisalign still ahead. The X-ray process itself was also rough. The assistant handled the apparatus so aggressively that at points I thought my gums were bleeding from it scraping against them. On top of that, a second assistant had to come in and redo the X-rays because they weren't done correctly the first time. Between the constant rescheduling and the care I received, I won't be returning. Whether it's a scheduling problem or something else, the office here does not respect its patients' time. read more

Used for crossroads dentistry for less than a year, and will not be returning. Had one appointment scheduled for 11:00 to repair a chipped front tooth (something I would consider rather attentive), they requested the day before to see me an hour earlier. I go in for the appointment, they don't see me until 10:30, just do an X-ray, and cut my appointment short because they had other patients to see (even though that was my initial timeslot). I said I needed it filled that day, they made me wait a whole hour after that appointment (way to value my time) to fill it (and Fleming is rude about the entire process on why I needed it fixed that day) . Another appointment was to get my top left first molar crowned after going to an endodontist for a proper root canal. I go in for the appointment and they started numbing my right side first molar. I told the assistant I was there for a crown to be placed, and they said I needed a root canal on my right side and, more or less, tried to bully me into a procedure I didn't need. The assistant stated I would be charged for the cancelled root canal and they have proof I agreed to it (and they never produced it), Fleming comes in and the assistant raises her voice stating she didn't understand why I didn't want the root canal (because it's an expensive procedure that your informing of that minute). Got my proper molar crowned, told the front to cancel my upcoming cleaning and that I wouldn't be returning. But hey, at least they have art :/ read more

Sometimes new relationships are a little awkward. My dental insurance changed, so I was in the market for a new dentist. After an unscientific search, a few friends recommended this office. I had some tooth pain I wanted looked at. The dentist said he couldn't find anything wrong with the tooth, but pointed out some things he noticed. It was a nice first impression. I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning and exam and was on my way. A few months later, I was feeling more pain, so I called to make a follow up appointment. I left a few messages, but had trouble having somebody return my calls. Finally I was able to talk to an employee, but kept getting put on hold. After holding for a while, the person returned and said the dentist couldn't move forward without xrays. I explained I just had them done at my old dentist and didn't want to have new ones taken that weren't covered by my insurance. I was placed on hold again, thankfully not for long. The person returned and asked me if I could gather and submit my previous xrays. No problem. When the xrays were received, the office called me and scheduled my exam. Then we ran into some trouble. The first exam was postponed because the hygienist was going on vacation. I get it. Take a vacation because you earned it. So, I rescheduled. The next exam was postponed. The one after that, too. And the one after that. I finally rescheduled, four months after the original exam was scheduled. During my exam, the dentist instructed the assistant to take some notes. Then he recommended a small procedure. I understood and agreed, however when I went to leave the scheduler tried to schedule some additional appointments for a few other issues. I was a little confused and asked for more information including how much these added procedures might cost. The scheduler said he'd have somebody call me. He didn't. I was frustrated, so I decided to get a second opinion from another office. They recommended something similar. While I was thinking things over, this office called me. The person I spoke with asked me why I hadn't scheduled my follow up appointments. I explained my issues to her, mainly that I wasn't sure what some of the appointments were for, if they were needed and what they cost. I also spoke a little more in depth about my frustration scheduling appointments and having phone calls returned. She understood and agreed with me. She said the office had some staffing issues, but they had hired some new employees and were working to get them up to speed. She said she'd submit my info to my insurance and see what they said. She did, and I'm thankful for her. Then she got the ball rolling and got me on the calendar. The dentist performed the procedure he recommended, and did a darn good job. Then he discussed my oral history and current health situation with me. He patiently listened and answered my questions in a concise, yet straight forward manner that a regular person could understand. I appreciated his time and care. Some of the support issues I discussed with the office and wrote about above have already improved. I hoping the other issues improve with time. If they do then I think I've found a new dentist. read more

The work done by Dr. Fleming is good, same for the dental hygienist, but the doctor's staff is beyond deplorable in their inability to follow through. During my treatment I had to show up in person after making many attempts to get them to call me back. After I moved back to California and asked them to ship the crown back so the final step of crown 'installation' can be done here, they ignored my nearly dozen calls. My wife showed up in person and requested to speak to the office manager but he was unavailable. At this point I have given up on trying to get the work done. Furthermore they already charged for all the work so they have no interest in doing anything to correct the situation. I paid with my HSA as they required payment upfront. Billing seems to be the only thing they are prompt with. read more

Well if ya gotta bite the bullet do it here. My unhealthy fear of dentists goes all the way back to my childhood. I only recently after more than a decade tried to face my fear head on. Pain will do that, so faced with the growing tooth ache to the chair I went. Nervously I awaited the needle that would go straight to the nerve. That was the hardest part. I'm a nervous talker ( wish i could kick this), the staff were pro's and I'm pretty sure not the first nervous nelly they've had. Took the dentist an hour to transform two gruesome chompers into some pearly whites. The space is a clean modern with lots of art, looks like local artists. Now that the pains gone see ya in a decade, just messing. I go in pretty regularly now. Tips* - go in a little early ( paper work/numbing shot) - one designated parking spot in the back, mostly street parking but I've never had any problem nabing a spot read more

I ordered 750 dollars worth of Invisalign retainers from them on Oct 8 because mine had broken. I have been waiting weeks now for them when they said they would take 10 days. I live out of state so they needed to ship them to me. I told them multiple times I would pay for overnight shipping, however no one reached out. I had to call them multiple times over the course of these few weeks just to see if it had come in/been mailed. They finally told me that it was shipped last Friday the 25th and it would take two days to arrive. On Tuesday of this week I called to get the tracking number as it has not yet arrived. They said they didn't have it and I would need to talk to the office manager. I have called about three times a day since to speak to him and he is always with a patient. I've left multiple messages and the nice front desk people keep saying they'll tell him to call me, and yet this office manager still has yet to call me back about a five minute conversation for a tracking number. My teeth are shifting and not only is the 750 going down the drain but the 5 grand I paid for the Invisalign. I haven't even had my retainer for a full year! I just want my retainers that should have come almost two weeks ago! Part of me is believing they haven't even shipped them yet. I called them three times this morning since they opened and no one even picked up the phone. read more

They rescheduled my appointment from five to four then made me wait thirty minutes. This was upsetting but overall it was a good experience. The dental hygienist was amazing! She makes up for the bad experience. Be warned though, they will call you on repeat to schedule your appointments (which is good for me, because I dread going in and put it off) but it could be a little annoying. read more

As somebody who's dental hygiene responsibility checked out years ago, I was both extremely anxious and mortified about my delayed return to 'adult responsibility'. CRUD was a great experience to get back into the routine. They were both comforting and aware of my anxieties but also had a subtle tone of concern (and realism) that if I didn't change my ways, I'd be in trouble. It was the perfect cocktail of wake up juice I needed. After a thorough cleaning and exam I went back the next day for some minor filling work. The location was convenient for me and space was hip (like much of the Crossroads area). The staff were very kind and friendly. The only thing nice about this place was the artwork. The dentist was arrogant and we had to wait 1.5 hours to even get in for our appointment that we made a month ahead of time. I went in for a REGULAR cleaning, and they charged me $53.00 not covered by insurance for "oral hygiene instruction"? Wtf? You told me to floss, that's it. I absolutely will not be back and do not recommend this place. There was also a very unprofessional sticky note stuck to the stairs about needing to call a lawyer back about a lawsuit with the dentist. Best dental services possible. I have a lot of dental anxiety thanks to previous services elsewhere. I am always utterly impressed by the professional and support staff at Crossroads. Today was the best yet, even though I had to go through a scaling and planing as well as a crown- which are typically perceived as very uncomfortable at the very least. Claudia, my hygienist was hands-down amazing. She took great care of me, I experienced virtually no discomfort, and her hygiene reminders were upbeat and helpful. She actually gave some recommendations I hadn't heard before. My teeth may well be cleaner than they have ever been as well! The in-house production for same day crown service is amazing, and every one of the staff members takes special care of you throughout. Dr. Dan gives great education and reassurance, and made sure I was comfortable. This office can take care of your mouth faster than most other dentist practices, and will totally make sure you are as happy as possible while the services are performed. They have previously gotten me in on very short notice, which I greatly appreciate, and I love the art house ambience. I could keep singing the praises of a well-run practice for a few more paragraphs, but you get the idea. Switch to this practice and you won't regret it one bit! read more

My first visit went well. The hygienist was concerned about my comfort in addition to being very thorough. Dr. Fleming was congenial and informative. They took actual pictures to show me the damage that needed to be repaired. The front office was exceptionally kind and helpful in finding appointments that work for my schedule. I loved the atmosphere of the office and the hygienist, but Dr. Fleming could have done a better job communicating my exam results to me. He mumbled and did not clearly communicate technical information. Office staff had trouble finding my records which had been sent previously (2 months prior to the appointment), and the office failed to follow up with my previous dentist in that amount of time, resulting in a game of phone-tag with my previous dentist during the appointment. Overall it was a good experience and I will be returning. Office staff was great about contacting my insurance company to confirm they'd cover x-rays as well as setting up my next appointment. What a great find! Not only does this dentist office double as an art gallery (they also open it up during First Fridays as such) but the quality of service and staff are great! Claudia was my hygienist and I don't plan on seeing anyone else again but her! I could tell she really enjoys and takes pride in what she does, and she wasn't afraid to tell me what I was probably doing wrong in regards to my cleaning regimen, which I like. She was also thorough and full of useful information, which was much needed from someone like me who was LONG overdue for a cleaning/getting some cavities taken care of. Dr. Fleming is also great and again full of useful, insightful, easy to understand information that you'd hope from every health service you seek (which is often not the case). I am so glad I chose this place. Even the lobby staff were great and no question was a dumb one or an inconvenience to them. Highly recommend! I just recommended Crossroads Dentistry to a friend who is dissatisfied with her current dental group. The dental hygienist, Vienna, is one of the best I've ever encountered. This group is sensitive to my dental needs as well as my financial limitations. They are always happy to check to see what's covered by insurance and what's not and then to give me estimates of the cost will be. There is always a smile that goes along with the information. I should also say that I used to have something of a dental phobia but after 5 years with them I just go in twice a year without dread. This is quite an accomplishment! read more

Friendly, professional staff who will remember you from your first visit and a modern but relaxed atmosphere that does not feel like your typical dentist office. I went to this dentist over 4 years ago. During my time as a patient, I was told I needed multiple fillings at every visit (I had never had single filling before coming here). Additionally, I moved 2 months after my last appointment. I never received a bill for an outstanding balanced owed. 4 years later my credit drops over 100 points. I look into it and Crossroads Dentistry sent me to collections for an outstanding bill that I never received from 4 years prior. Not only has my credit score been effected, but I owe 1.5 times my original bill due to fees incurred because I was never provided a bill. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

Hippy dentist that does what he wants and not what the customer requests. They refused to disclose a dental assessment or discuss what plan of action would be taken in repairing my teeth. I needed a crown and ended up with three teeth ground down and built up for crowns in the future. Two months later, I still need a crown and the build up is breaking off. I do not have $3000 to fix Fleming's screw up, so I will likely lose these teeth. I also cancelled an appointment early and was billed $60 for a no show. I've been waiting two weeks for a call back to discuss my bill and was told today that the person handling that has a list and will call me when he reaches my name. How long is this list? I'm convinced some of these positive reviews are employees. read more

I've never said this before in my life: "I look forward to my dental checkup every 6 months." I hadn't been to the dentist in years when I first walked into Crossroads Dentistry. I'm not afraid of dental work, I just found dentists offices boring, the wait times long, etc. By contrast, Crossroads Dentistry is amazing. For starters, it's gorgeous. It's like an angel and an art gallery had a baby. The staff gets you checked in fast, and the wait has never been more than 15 minutes before you're in your chair, looking at cool artwork, having your teeth cleaned by the nicest, most thorough dental hygienists you'll ever meet. These ladies know a lot about teeth, too. I never would have thought I'd learn so much about teeth while getting my teeth cleaned. It's not boring at all; time flies. Brittney and Vienna have both made my teeth the cleanest they've ever been. And Dr. Fleming knows exactly what's up with your dental situation when arrives with the verdict and your options. The office maintains operational hours to accommodate my work week, and it's right in the middle of downtown - easy walking distance. I don't know why anyone in KC would go anywhere else, because this place - and the people who work there - are awesome. read more
