I love small town, outdated, movie theaters but this place isn't trying to be that. All the charm is lost when you're only showing the most recent movies instead of curating timeless classics. The movies is a place to take your family this time of year. I sat in a completely empty showing of a popular film. The owners are deciding to show an absolute failure of a movie instead of putting on Elf, or Christmas Vacation to attract families. You should either sell this place to an AMC to come in and upgrade everything or sell it to a local who would care and put the time and effort into making this place amazing as it is. There's nothing fun about this place when you walk in. The staff look miserable. No one is excited about what's going on in that building. Went to see a rated R movie, back row full of teenagers louder than hyenas before trailer, asked them twice to be quiet, nothing changed. I think an employee was there because heard a guy whisper and I'm assuming the manager came in and was staring at the row of teens, who I presume know the manager or affiliated at some point. Eventually I told the manager and All he did was walk around, while the kids were quiet. Wouldnt recommend but hey it's the only theatre in town read more

When we walked in, we were greeted by friendly ticket sellers and the food counter people were patient and helpful. The bathrooms were surprisingly pristine, and the theaters are small, so if you get in with a good crowd it's easy to enjoy the movie with little distractions. Highly recommend if you're looking for something to do! read more

Feel like this theater is getting a bit of an underserving bad rap. I recently had a pleasant experience. To start, where I come from, it's practically unheard of to get an adult ticket for only $7.75. Two tickets basically for the price of one when compared to other movie theaters. Score! Besides that, the food and drinks are also pretty cheap. I rarely buy snacks to bring in, but here, it wasn't extremely overpriced. The theater itself was small but the seats were relatively comfy and the movie went off without a hitch. Seems like most people are complaining about having food and drink taken from them, so if that's really important to you, maybe don't come here. If you absolutely can't survive a two hour flick without some sustenance, know that the Storyteller won't break the bank. read more

After being verbally assaulted by a woman in the theater the manager came in and started telling us how we were wrong before we could say anything. We left the theater to try to talk to her when she told my husband to shut up so we asked for a refund. My husband got mad at the way she was treating us and so got a little loud and she continued to be rude and refused to listen to what actually happened instead telling us she didn't want to hear it. The managers name was Nancy and we will never return to this theater or any Mitchell theater because of her horrid attitude and customer service. Stay far away from this theater prices may be great but that is only because they lack other places. *Update: contacted management with all my contact info so I could share my experience and was not able to get a hold of anyone or get a call back. If you enjoy TSA screening at airports, you'll feel right at home at this theatre. Prepare to have your handbag checked after you buy your ticket. if you bring in a water bottle, you can return it to your car or dump it in the trash. They DO offer free water in styrofoam cups. You'll then be greeted with on-screen threats of prosecution if you're caught with a cellphone in video-filming mode after the show begins. Most theatres offer the more civil but direct reminder that it is illegal to film and distribute what you see on-screen. There's no civility from patriarchal bully of the Mitchell Theatre Chain. The assumption is that you enter the theatre with felony in mind and must be told clearly what punishment awaits. On the positive side, this complex offers a good variety of films, from family fare to high-T adventure flicks -- and the occasional indy film or thinking person's drama. I've been going to this tiny theater for some time. It's the way movies should be. Two drinks, popcorn, two candies, and two tickets all under thirty dollars. Run by really, really nice people. I hope it stays there forever. Support your neighbors and head here over the chains. read more

Outrageous that this cinema would insist on pawing through people's purses under the guise of security, but apparently actually are just looking for food and drink. I will not go to the cinema because of this policy, and that angers me since it is the only theater in town. Shame on them. read more

Story teller is obnoxious. They have a witch hunt for people bringing in their own drinks. I understand they have a business model that needs sales of food and beverage but Searching bags on the way in and threatening to have you arrested is over the top. When they came in 20 minutes into the movie and made a big deal over someone behind me who had their own ginger ale, I was distracted and missed the subtitles and important dialog. I don't even think they sell ginger ale. read more

It's a good small town theater. Pleasant seating and very reasonable prices, plus you can get a complementary tap water there. The movie selection is fine but unexceptional. Sometimes there are several movies I want to see, sometimes none, but that's the way of the world. Three Billboards is about as artsy as they get, but they have a solid selection of fun movies. I'm pretty grateful that a town this small has a theater this good. read more

I walked in and got high fives by a man named Ben. It was awesome. Then he handed me 3-D glasses which in turn allowed a film that otherwise would have been in 2-D, became 3-D. It was magical and I recommend this place. To everyone. *High five* read more

The staff is very rude and they have a terrible selection of movies. They search your handbags with a smug pleasantness of a elementary school bully stealing your lunch money. Just stay at home and watch something on Netflix. read more

The theater is no longer searching handbags. I love the renovations and the snack bar is great.
