We went specifically to get a plum tree. We got a lovely shaped specimen and were given good advice about planting and pruning. The chap we were speaking to also recommended a couple of jasmines and we bought a few annuals too. He kindly tied up the tree and helped us into the car with it. The creepers and tree have really taken hold in our garden, thanks to the good advice, and are growing nicely this year. We're hoping to make another trip out to Thompsons later this summer.

The shop area houses a large range of garden furniture, water features, books and gifts as well as a large range of house plants including orchids and some exotic species. I don't give it 5 stars because of three things: we were disappointed we couldn't get into the ice rink due to the amount of people, they don't have a proper bicycle parking and, even though at first I was excited about seeing the reindeer, I think animals shouldn't be kept locked in such tiny spaces. Reindeer are herd animals that migrate through extensive areas. It was a bit sad to see them. Anyway, the rest of the place is very cool. We bought some Christmas decorations and some things for the plants, and had delicious pies. Really nice place.

Contacted the garden centre who said they would contact the rep and get back to me, two weeks passed with no contact. Rang them numerous times to no avail. Then a lady called Kate took my call and basically said there was nothing they were going to do, she was very unhelpful with no sympathy for our plight despite us spending nearly £100 on compost. You can always judge the merits of a company when things go wrong and how they deal with it, this time Bexley Garden centre failed miserably. Would not use again and advise others to do so the same.
