The positive about Mitchells it is beautiful to shop fabulous selection of designers and it is organized. The sad and very disappointing issue I had with Mitchells is their pricing. Yes, I know my designers and where unique design pieces. I am willing to pay the price. Unfortnately, I had a little hickup not noticing a pair of shoes were more expensive then what I thought they were and Mitchells was very nice to refund me the money. As a hobby I collect vintage clothing acquiring a decent amount, a few closets worth. After shopping in vintage stores all over the US, this is one store I'll never go back in. While the merch is great quality it is grossly overpriced that it is silly, laughable. But put that aside as the worst problem is Mitchell. What a nasty attitude presenting himself thinking he is superior to his customers. Nothing but a negative attitude making it extremely unpleasant to remain in the store. With a wide range of patterns, there was really something for everyone. The vintage designer options were also very good, especially for women. I would never support this store. On September 24, 2017 I saw this store owner come out of his store to harass a mom and her two children to get off his sidewalk which mind you is public property. Within seconds the store owner lost his temper and threw the women's purse to the floor and with poise the women picked up her belongs that fell to the floor and out of her purse and walked away with her children. I'm visiting Palm Springs for the first time and came across Mitchells by complete fluke. Shopping here has been one of the highlights of my trip so far. I love vintage clothing but what really made this experience memorable was the customer service. Where I come from, no one takes time to help you the way Mitchell helped me. He took a good look at my figure and brought me clothes that he thought would fit and look great. There wasn't a single piece that didn't work. And he also brought me shoes to try on with the outfits so that my boring flats wouldn't take away from the overall image. I've never been so impressed. Mitchell knows his stuff. He said he hand picks every item in the store and I believe it. Most of the clothes I tried on were vintage but he also has some beautiful, high-end clothing that you won't find anywhere else in town. I walked out of there with an inflated ego, thanks to him. That's what shopping should feel like! Mitchell put a lot of thought into other details in this store. Vintage adult magazines, cool decor that you can only appreciate if you spend some time here, a few seats for those who want or need to sit (like my spouse, who patiently waited while Mitchell and I were busy) and two dressing areas created with custom-made knitted covers. Men and women alike will be entertained in this store for one reason or another. If you walk out with a purchase that you love, bonus. I easily could have bought 5 or 6 items (a combination of new and vintage) if it would have been in my budget for this trip. I scored 3 St. John outfits at an incredible price! Even more incredible is that the store has a bunch of St. John in size 12, 14, and 16. The owner is super nice and helpful. He has so much stock the St. Johns were in the back and he went and got them for me. Can't wait to go back. read more

I ate next door at Thai Smile and was taken by the wonderful window display- I had to stop in here the following day to check things out. Frankly, I was blown away by the selection. Vintage Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, D&G, and more. All of this is rounded out by vintage-y contemporary clothing that complements the vintage originals to perfection. Mitchell is such a friendly guy that knows every single item in his store and makes amazing recommendations. He brought me things which I would never have picked up for myself, but when I tried them on, I fell in love. I could have spent much more time (and money) here but wanted to make sure I was respectful to my patient partner who was waiting for me :) I will definitely stop back in to shop here, not only for the amazing items, but also for the awesome, personalized service. So this is a place I want to come back to when I'm skinny and either wealthy or have a Splenda daddy. The owner is a sweetheart who is quick witted and knows how to give all the world fashion. I wish I could have bought something but my budget isn't ready. I love the fact the owner tries to accommodate all even plus size chicks like me. Vintage sadly isn't for big girls of this era as the norm sizes back then were 8-10. If you want a nice step back into Studio 54 this is it. read more

Store isn't bad at all. Really cool stuff. If this review was on the content of the store, it would get 5 stars. The owner, however, was quite rude. We had some friends from out of town visiting and decided to check out the store. We were laughing with each other while checking out the vintage merchandise but unfortunately I think the owner took it personally and thought we must have been laughing at his items. We were NOT running around his store acting like children. We were admiring what he had in the store. When my friend held up the one piece I was considering purchasing, a leather jacket from the 80s, to look at the embellishments on it, he came over and spoke down to us. After Telling us to not touch the leather, I listened to him and made sure we were only handling the hanger that the item was on. But he didn't stop there, he ranted on with his bitchy berating attitude. For the record, if something is a "museum piece" don't put it on a hanger on a rack. Put it behind glass. Or for a cheaper way out, hand-write a sign saying "please don't touch this jacket" and cover the item in plastic so your childish and "unwanted" customers won't destroy the leather by touching it. I, personally, love cool vintage stuff but would never again step foot in this store after experiencing the incredible bitchiness and intentional degradation from whomever the guy is who runs it. read more
