Decent place. went there on sat before the sox game to watch the first bulls playoff game. had 4 or 5 TVs, though as we sat at the table it was not necessarily a good line of site to see any of the TVs. you kind of had to turn your head away from the group you were sitting with to see the game. good beer selection though read more

I came here to watch the wildcard game between the Steelers and the Ravens, and this place wasn't what I was expecting. This is a tiny, neighborhood dive bar in Bridgeport, and it was hopping on Saturday night. Way busier than I expected. This is also the kind of bar you expect to hear grunge in, not pop music headlined by four Taylor Swift songs. The princes are on point, and the specials can be a great deal. My only gripe is that many of the TVs are small and hard to see, especially the ones high up. Not every table has a great view. So this is definitely a fun place to watch a game, but if you are very invested and want a high quality viewing experience, I would definitely look elsewhere. read more

Just an average bar on an average Chicago street. The only thing that makes this place unique is that it is a White Sox bar actually in the white Sox park neighborhood. Aside from that this is just another of the same looking corporate/store front bar. It has some good diverse beer choices and a nice beer garden when it is warm. Aside from that you will find the same sports loud mouths and their jersey's that you will find in Wriglyville, only that they are wearing different colors. read more

If this place has anything going for it, it's that it's very clean. Amazingly so for a bar. The downsides are three, but I feel that they are important enough to warrant comment here: (1) the staff and patrons did not seem to be very friendly toward this neighborhood outsider; (2) if you need to take a dump, there is no stall around the throne in the men's room and no way to lock the handle on the main door; and (3) the beer they had on offer was kind of expensive. read more

Not a bad place. Good bartenders. Crowd can get a little rowdy at times. Almost every other time I go in, someone has been over served and is starting trouble. Narrow train car like bar which means if you bump into the wrong "bro" you might get shoved. If you hit it up in the summer, you can enjoy the beer garden and stay away from the meatheads. read more

This isn't a destination for people outside of Bridgeport, but it is a good option when you're in the neighborhood. Most of the crowd drinks Miller Lite, but there is a very good selection of domestic craft beers in bottles. The specials are nice & cheap too. read more

I managed to visit here on a Sunday evening when the north side b**eball team was on the ESPN national telecast. However, Mitchell's is an egalitarian and tolerant bar. The north side fans were clustered on the west edge of the bar, closest to the venue's largest flat-screen TV (subscribed to Comcast cable). The south side fans (whose club had lost that afternoon), were closer to the door. I seated myself in between, but closer to the south side fans. I began coming to this address when it was "Puffers' Bar". From what I overheard, after the south side club won something colossal in 2005, the Puffers drew an offer from some other wanna-be bar owner. They felt this was the time to go out, and so they sold. But aside from whoever is the new owner, the venue has not greatly changed. You can obtain a quality beer here, typically an import, but Three Floyds can be found here, as can Point (which is what I ordered), and it has two Samuel Adams beers, including the seasonal on tap. It took a while for Mitchell's to warm up to me. I was generally ignoring the TV, and reading an English-language pamphlet I brought back from Japan. I did not attribute this to xenophobia. The peculiar combination of what was on TV, and what had occurred earlier that day is to what I attribute it. But just the same, I can't give Mitchell's more than three stars for now. In succeeding trips to the south side, when I cycle back through Mitchell's, then I'll ponder if it can go higher. Transit options: The #8 Halsted route is how to get the 'last mile'. It runs northbound [to Orange & Blue Line "L"s] until 1:00 am and southbound until 2:10 am. The #44 Wallace-Racine route is two blocks east of Halsted, but it ceases running at 11:35 pm on weeknights, and after 6:00 pm on weekends. The #35 35th Street route halts operation at 1:00 am. read more

Nice bar, I definitely plan on coming back here the next time I head to a Sox game. My friends and I were able to sit in the outside patio area with our pitchers of beer and chill. Disappointed that the bags weren't out though. read more

Im a cubs fan (gasp!) and I actually enjoyed this place. Came here last night and amists the sox jerseys, sox hats, sox anything that you can prove your a south-sider.. there was great music and cheap drinks. Crowd was 21-28 ish and literally 75% male - which of course I didn't complain! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this bar. Bar staff and patrons are very friendly. Come during a Sox game and you will love it. I have only gone after a Sox game but you want to make sure you get here earlier than later. It can get pretty packed. Bathrooms are nice too and will have to wait in line if its crowded. Outside patio area in the bag is pretty large. Music is good when played just a little loud for my taste but if that's the only negative thing then eh, whatever. No food at this bar just and FYI but you can order and have it delivered or just go down the street and get some awesome Mexican food at 35th. read more

Great place to go for a Sox game. The crowd is engergetic and no frills. The PBR pitchers are $6.75, you can't go wrong. But if you want a beer with a little more flavor they have a large bottle selection. read more

Good selection of beer and reasonable prices. This bar seems to have a wide range of patrons, which can make just about anyone comfortable in this place. The bar can get a little crowded during baseball season but most of the time, it is just busy enough not to be annoying (i.e. you won't be getting elbowed left and right). read more

This place was my first stop in Chicago and I must say a taste of Bridgeport is at Mitchells. The folks were awesome, the booze was served in good portions. I did meet some local that asked we buy a delirium before we leave, the barkeep looked at me and decided i was worthy of it. ..... Mitchell's Tap is a great bar wether your looking for a spot to catch the game or just a place to have a few drinks after work. The have a very good selection about Domestic and Import beers on tap and in bottles. The back patio is great on summer nights. The clientel is a mix of young 20 and locals that could be their parents age, which I think is one aspect that makes this place as good as it is. read more

i give this place 5 stars in my head because i was here when the sox won the world series (it was still puffers).. and i will never forget it,possibly one of the best nights of my life. i've been back here after the name change and i really dislike the place. its filled with the locals, old and young.. i don't mind the older ones but the young ones with their bridgeport attitudes need to stay home, i don't believe half of them are even old enough to drink. read more

Hmm, I've been in love with Mitchell's Tap since the first time I went there for my 21st birthday Bar Crawl. Its a step above the usual "neighborhood dive" and part sports bar to boot! I love the patio out back, the beer menu is amazing... carrying beer only available in a few places in the city, the prices are reasonable and the bartenders are usually cute... oops I mean attentive. They keep the place nice and clean, even putting pink paper towels in the girls room :) It doesn't have that stale beer and sweaty body odor many "neighborhood bars" do. Hmm what else? This bar has good days and bad days because it is REAL. I hate to sound like a cliche, but it is not OBSESSED with the latest mico brew dejour. I just order my Coors Light, without a sneer. I like it. Always attracks a couple jerks, but this is a REAL BAR. It isn't phony or try to be some pseudo working class bar that you might find in other neighborhoods. Order the Cheesy Beef Sandwich it is amazing!!! Every item on the menu is great and very reasonably priced. Over 100 different beers and amazing selection of alcohol. The bartenders are awesome. Live music on Saturdays brings such a fun atmosphere. Dance,sing,drink and eat sounds like a blast to me.
