This is a small bar and I've been here a handful of times. They have some pretty good food and the service is always pretty good if they have their regular bartenders, it's got a dive type vibe. They also have some seating outside. There's not too much seating inside besides the bar, a few tables and they have a handful of TVs and a couple slot machines. Good basic bar. The food was on par with your regular around the corner bar. I got the hot wings and they were hot. The drinks were on point so that wasn't an issue. My group and I went mid day. So they only had one waiter bringing out the food and taking orders. She did a wonderful job taking orders and serving food. It was 4 egg rolls cut down the middle, stuffed with buffalo chicken and ranch or blue cheese as the dipping sauce. It was actually really good. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft and tender inside. BBQ wings: meaty and juicy, these wings were nice and tangy with the perfect amount of bbq sauce on them. Chicken tenders: the tenders were not overly breaded and the dreading was really good. Not just a thick slosh of flour, with a nice seasoning to it. The chicken was nice a soft. calamari:. Such a fun place! We often go here before, after and sometimes during Sox games. This time, we rented out the upstairs room for a bachelorette party. We had our own private entrance, bathrooms and bartender. Getting the party booked and details hammered out was extremely easy. They were willing to accommodate us on whatever we wanted. We had their pizza and southwest egg rolls- both which were absolutely delicious! Our bartender Emily was also amazing! They even let us bring in our own DJ. This is a solid bar just north of Guaranteed Rate Field. I stopped by here a few weeks ago and it's a standard neighborhood bar with a good amount of craft beer selections and a good food menu. I had the Italian burger, which was really good. The bar is small but a must for all those who are out in Bridgeport to stop by and have a beer or two. First time coming here; was super excited. Let's just say upon being "greeted" by staff, the morale of my party tanked. Decent food/beverage options and chill atmosphere, but the staff could use a swift hospitality course. Some bartender by the name of "URGO" (per my receipt) was a complete douche. Walked in and needed a flashlight to see anything. It wasn't busy at all. We were seated. I went to the bar to use a gambling machine. I kid you all NOT. I stood there for 30 minutes, with money in my hand. Bartender looked right at me 3 times. Not once, did she say. I'll be right with you. 3 guys walked in. Bartender seemed to know them. A friend of mine told me to stop at Turtle Bar. The fact that my doctor is across the street didn't deter me. The place looks bigger on the outside kinda of like a reverse TARDIS. I found the beers on tap plentiful and reasonably priced. Not a big craft selection but I feel enuff to keep beer drinkers happy. Nice sit down bar with tables and outdoor seating. I get the feeling they have some characters that visit and because it's across from White Sox Park they get a nice mix of hood and visitors to keep the action flowing. But what really got me going was the food. They had a nice Italian focused simple menu. I saw the salads and burgers marching out of kitchen and I had to try something because the food looked REALLY REALLY good. Ordered the garlic parm fries and wow - real garlic and parm perfectly tossed. Not greasy like some places make them, I took the MEAT BOWL to go and it was also excellent. A combo of meatballs, sausage and (YES) - NECK BONES!!! O boy - slathered in Bolognese sauce w extra garlic bread. Very impressive for a small corner bar. We went in before the Red Sox/White Sox game with the kids. Top notch place all around. The staff was very friendly, except for one waitress which just looked annoyed, but our main waitress rocked. The food was very good. I got the grilled chicken salad and it was huge and awesome. The kids meals were all very good too. Nice little outdoor seating area and cold beers! The manager or owner was super attentive to everyone. He saw that we were going to the game with the kids and he came back with two free complimentary huge bags of chips! Great spot! read more

There are not a lot of options for bars on the south side. At least none you probably want to go into. I've been to Turtle Bar and Grill several times now. This is an okay place. Good staff and good crowd. Classic sports bar. I work in the area and this is within walking distance so I find myself here occasionally. They have a descent beer selection. A little light on IPAs, but the ones they have are good. For non-IPA drinkers who still want something less shitty than Bud Light, they have a good ciders (and special ones over the holidays), a full bar, and some okay whiskies. The food here is actually better than descent. Yeah, it's bar food, but it's really quite good, what I have had. I have not been here on Sox game day, but I bet it's nuts. Be warned. If you find yourself in the area, stop in. You could do a lot worse. read more
